Objective To systematically analyze the relevant scientific literature on the effect of nasopharyngeal carcinoma radiotherapy on thy?roid function and to elucidate the current research status in this field. Methods We searched the relevant literature published over a recent de?cade using the PubMed database,and parameters such as the number of published articles and high?frequency keywords were counted. Cluster analysis of the high?frequency keywords was performed using SPSS software. Results We identified 2928 references and 11 high?frequency key?words. The clustering analysis results identified five main aspects. Conclusion In recently published articles on the effect of nasopharyngeal carci?noma radiotherapy on thyroid function,the high?frequency keywords were clustered mainly in the following five categories:nasopharyngeal carcino?ma radiotherapy,complications of nasopharyngeal neoplasms and etiology of hypothyroidism,radiation dose and side effects,effect of radiation ther?apy on thyroid functional,nasopharyngeal neoplasm pathology,and secondary carcinoma.

BACKGROUND:Deep venous thrombosis is one of the most common and dangerous complication. There wil be serious consequences for failing to prevent deep venous thrombosis in advance, so we need to evaluate the risk factors of deep venous thrombosis. OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the clinical risk factors for lower limb deep vein thrombosis after total hip arthroplasty. METHODS:Data of 162 patients who were treated from January 2010 to February 2013 in Department of Bone and Joint Surgery, Shenzhen Hospital of Peking University for total hip arthroplasty were analyzed retrospectively. Al patients received ultrasonography on deep veins of lower limb preoperatively and postoperatively 3 and 7 days. Risk factors of deep venous thrombosis were analyzed using Logistic regression analysis in patients undergoing total hip arthroplasty. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:The selected factors for Logistic regression model contained bone cement prosthesis, age distribution, body mass index, and general anesthesia. Their OR values were 9.215, 11.247, 3.842, 4.825, respectively. They were risk factors for the occurrence of deep venous thrombosis. Above results indicated that use of bone cement prosthesis, age, body mass index>25 kg/m2 and general anesthesia are risk factors for deep venous thrombosis after total hip replacement, so they should cause clinical attention and we should take active measures to prevent them.

To summarize the accumulated successful experiences, defeated cases and lessons the recent year’s clinical studies, works and experiences of hip prosthesis combining the relevant status abroad and to analyze some questions such as the operations are not standardized; the indications are not strict; overemphasizing the navigation and mini-invasion; clinical techniques are irregular, and the patients should be educated, and so on. The above questions influence the good development of the Chinese joint prosthesis and reduce the clinical outcomes of the joint prosthesis. Taken together, these questions should be concerned and resolved. Relevant solutions are discussed.

With thousands of sequenced 16 S rRNA genes available,and advancements in oligonucleotide microarray technology,the detection of microorganisms in microbial communities consisting of hundreds of species may be possible.The existing algorithms developed for sequence-specific probe design are not suitable for applications in large-scale bacteria detection due to the lack of coverage,flexibility and efficiency.Many other strategies developed for group-specific probe design focus on how to find a unique group-specific probe that can specifically detect all target sequences of a group.Unique group-specific probe for each group can not always be found.Hence,it is necessary to design non-unique probes.Each probe can specifically detect target sequences of a different subgroup.Combination of multiple probes can achieve higher coverage.However,it is a time-consuming task to evaluate all possible combinations.A feasible algorithm using relative entropy and genetic algorithm (GA) to design group-specific non-unique probes was presented.

Objective: Refine and understand the characteristics of different types of bystanders, in order to maximize the exploitation and utilization of bystanders as potential resources for anti bullying, so as to provide more targeted guidance for the formulation of intervention programs. Methods: In this study, 1 279 students from two middle schools in Beijing and Anhui Province and two high schools in Guangdong Province and Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region were administered with Participation Role Questionnaire (PRQ) and Peer Nomination Questionnaire. Results: There was a significant difference between male and female in the role of onlooker( χ 2=96.92, P <0.01). Female students were more likely to play the role of defender and outsider, while male students were more likely to play the role of reinforcer( χ 2=31.87, P =0.01). And there were significant differences in the distribution of bystander roles in different grades. The chi square test results were( χ 2=456.26, P <0.01). Conclusion The bystander plays an important role in the occurrence of bullying incidents. It is an important direction of school bullying intervention programs to promote the positive transformation from passive bystander to active bystander.

Objective: To investigate and analyze the impact on PLT recovery of recombinant human thrombopoietin (rhTPO) in severe aplastic anemia (SAA) patients with allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT). Methods: A retrospective analysis of Hematology Division of General Hospital of Jinan Military Command was conducted in the 85 SAA cases who treated with allo-HSCT from January 2010 to March 2017. According to the administration of medicines for platelets, 85 patients were divided into rhTPO group (n=29), rhIL-11 group (n=27) and blank group (n=29), respectively. The median time of PLT ≥20×10⁹/L, PLT ≥50×10⁹/L, and PLT ≥100×10⁹/L, the numbers of megakaryocytes in marrow smear (25±5) days after transplantation and the quantities of platelet transfusion were analyzed retrospectively. The adverse events of rhTPO and rhIL-11 groups were observed. Results: There were no significant differences in the recovery of granulocytes and PLT ≥20×10⁹/L among the three groups (P>0.05). The time of PLT ≥50×10⁹/L in rhTPO group was shorter than that in blank group [16.5 (11-39) d vs 22 (14-66) d, P<0.05], as well as the time of PLT ≥100×10⁹/L [rhTPO: 23 (12-51) d; rhIL-11: 28 (12-80) d; blank group: 35 (18-86) d, P<0.05]. Platelet transfusions were also less in rhTPO group than in rhIL-11 and blank groups [20 (10-30) U, 30 (10-50) U, 35 (10-70) U, P<0.05]. The counts of megakaryocyte in rhTPO group, rhIL-11 group and blank group were 31.5 (0-200), 12 (0-142) and 11(0-187) (P<0.05), respectively. The difference between rhTPO group and rhIL-11 group was statistically significant (P<0.05), but no difference between rhIL-11 group and blank group (P>0.05). Multivariate analysis showed that rhTPO was an independent factor for platelet recovery [HR=4.01 (95%CI 1.81-9.97), P=0.010]. The rhTPO group had no obvious adverse events. Conclusion rhTPO can promote platelet recovery of SAA patients after allo-HSCT, reduce platelet transfusion with safety.

Background::Asthma imposes a large healthcare burden in China and the United States (US). However, the trends of asthma mortality and the relative risk factors have not been comparatively analyzed between the countries. The aim of this study was to compare the mortality and risk factors between China and the US.Methods::The deaths, and mortality rates of asthma in China and the US during 1990–2019 were obtained from the Global Burden of Disease Study 2019. The age–period–cohort model was used to estimate these mortality rates based on a log-linear scale with additive age, period, and cohort effects. The population attributable fractions of risk factors for asthma were estimated.Results::In 1990–2019, the asthma mortality rate was higher in China than in the US. The crude and age-standardized asthma mortality rates trended downward in both China and the US from 1990 to 2019. The decline in mortality was more obvious in China. Mortality gap between the two countries was narrowing. A sex difference in asthma mortality was observed with higher mortality in males in China and females in the US. The age effects showed that mortality increased with age in adults older than 20 years, particularly in the elderly. Downward trends were generally observed in the period and cohort rate ratios in both countries, with China experiencing a more obvious decrease. Smoking and high body mass index (BMI) were the leading risk factors for asthma mortality in China and the US, respectively. Mortality attributable to occupational asthmagens and smoking decreased the most in China and the US, respectively.Conclusions::In 1990–2019, the asthma mortality rate was higher in China than in the US; however, the mortality gap has narrowed. Mortality increased with age in adults. The improvements in asthma death risk with period and birth cohort were more obvious in China than in the US. Smoking, high BMI, and aging are major health problems associated with asthma control. The role of occupational asthmagens in asthma mortality underscores the importance of management and prevention of occupational asthma.

Objective To investigate the changes and related factors of maternal thyroid autoantibodies during early pregnancy. Methods Urinary iodine concentration( UIC) , serum thyroid stimulating hormone( TSH) , free thyroxine ( FT4 ) , thyroid-peroxidase antibody ( TPOAb ) , thyroglobulin antibody ( TgAb ) concentrations were determined in 7 190 women during early pregnancy in an iodine-sufficient region of China. Results The prevalence of TPOAb positivity and TgAb positivity were 8. 7% and 12. 0% respectively. The prevalence of overt hypothyroidism and subclinical hypothyroidism increased significantly in group of thyroid antibody positivity. The prevalence of TPOAb positivity and TgAb positivity presented a U-shaped curve, ranging from mild iodine deficiency to iodine excess, especially increased significantly in the group with UIC<100 μg/L. Conclusion Prevalence of thyroid antibodies positivity became higher during early pregnancy. The positive thyroid autoantibodies during pregnancy were significantly associated with maternal hypothyroidism. Both iodine excess and iodine deficiency are risk factors of positive thyroid antibodies.

Objective:To investigate the association between oxygen desaturation rate and blood pressure (BP) among severe obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS) and the possible mechanism.Methods:Patients with snoring were enrolled from the Department of Sleep Medicine Center, the Affiliated Huaian No.1 People′s Hospital of Nanjing Medical University form March 2018 to January 2019 and underwent polysomnography (PSG). Noninvasive BP and Heart rate variability were full-night monitored continuously and synchronized with PSG. Based on the PSG results and exclusion criteria, a total of 86 severe OSAS patients were enrolled in this study and divided into two groups according to the ambulatory BP measurements: hypertensive group ( n=44) and normotensive group ( n=42). Oxygen desaturation rate was expressed as the change in the percentage of pulse oxyhemoglobin saturation (SpO 2) per second during desaturation events after the obstructive apnea events occurred. The PSG parameters were compared between the two group and the multiple regression analyses were used to explore the association between oxygen desaturation rate and BP and its possible mechanism. Results:The apnea-hyperpnoea index (AHI) and respiratory event-related arousals (RERAs) were significantly higher in hypertensive group than those in normotensive group [(69.8±18.2) vs. (56.5±13.9) event/h; (40.5±17.4) vs. (30.2±14.6) event/h, both P<0.01]. In addition, hypoxia exposure conditions in the hypertensive group were more severe than those in the normotensive group, especially oxygen desaturation rate [(0.45±0.14)%/s vs. (0.33±0.10)%/s, P<0.001]. After adjusting for age, sex, neck circumference, waist circumference, smoking, drinking, the regression analyses showed that only the oxygen desaturation rate was significantly associated with both awake and asleep BP in OSAS patients ( β=0.473, 0.478, both P<0.01) and the correlation analyses suggested that the oxygen desaturation rate was related to the both awake and asleep sympathetic-parasympathetic imbalance ( r=0.367, 0.337, both P<0.01). Conclusion:Oxygen desaturation rate is closely related to BP levels in patients with severe OSAS, and the underlying mechanism is associated with the increased sympathetic activity.
