Objective To investigate the prognostic factots by analyzing clinicopathologlcal characteristics of 972 cases of colonic carcinoma. Methods Clinical and pathological data of 972 patients with colonic carcinoma treated surgically were studied by univariate and multivariate analysis, survival rate was calculated by life-table method and compared by Log-rank test. Results The univariate analysis indicated that the predictors of survival were age, perioperative blood transfusion, perioperative carcinoembryonic antigen(CEA)level, tumor gross type, depth of tumor invasion, lymphatic invasion, liver metastasis, extrahepatic metastasis, local recurrence、peritoneal seeding, pathological type,TNM stage and type of lymph node clearance. The multivariate analysis indicated that the independent predictors of suivival were age, periopemtive CEA level, tumor gross type, lymphatic invasion, liver metastasm, extrahepatic metastasis, local recurrence、peritioneal seeding, pathological type, type of lymph node clearance and TNM stage. Confclusions Lymphatic invasion is the most important independent prognostic factor of patients with colonic carcinoma treated surgically.

Objective To research the protective effects of alkaline electrolytic water on lipid peroxidation in blood, liver, kidney and brain of mice. Methods Total forty-five Kunming mice were randomly divided into three groups, control group:tap water;peroxidation model group:100 mg/kg D-galactose subcutaneous injection (once a day) + tap water;experimental group:100 mg/kg D-galactose subcutaneous injection (once a day) + alkaline electrolytic water. After 18 weeks of exposure, the mice were sacrificed, and the blood, liver, kidney and brain of mice were collected for further study. The MDA levels were measured by TBA method; The GSH levels and GSH-Px activities were measured by modified DNTB method; The SOD activities were measured by Xanthine oxidase method; The lipofuscin levels were detrmined by Sohal method. Results Compared with the control group,MDA and lipofuscin level increased,GSH content decreased, the activities of GSH-Px and SOD decreased in all detected organs and blood in the peroxidation model group, and compared with the peroxidation model group,MDA and lipofuscin level decreased,GSH content increased, the activities of GSH-Px and SOD increased significantly in D-galactose +alkaline electrolytic water group. Conclusion Alkaline electrolytic water has some antagonistic effects on the lipid peroxidation induced by D-galactose.

Objective To explore a rapid method for classification of microorganisms. Methods The electrophorese fingerprinting, direct sequence of 16S rDNA and 16S-23S rDNA ISR after PCR, multiplex PCR for 16S rDNA and antibiotic resistance genes, were utilized to explore fast approaches of extracting total DNA from different clinical specimens. Results The specific 16S-23S rDNA ISR fingerprinting fragments were shown on the genus or species level in bacteria and fungi. So fingerprinting can be used to identify pathogenic microorganisms, to differentiate the evolution relations or to set the phylogenetic tree by comparing their DNA banding patterns with those of standard strains (NCCLS). Multiplex PCR was able to examine the special genes of genus or species, mecA gene, TEM, SHV and CTX gene in staphylococcus and ESBLs(E.coli or K.pneumoniae) at the same time. Conclusion The part of 16S rDNA sequencing and 16S-23S rDNA ISR genotypes by gel electrophoreses were useful for bacterial species identification in addition, it was clearly more rapid and accurate than culture technique, and the large numbers of strains can easily be examined.Multiplex PCR could provide a good method for identification of microorganisms and analysis of antibiotic resistance at the same time.

OBJECTIVE:To observe analgesic effect and safety of ketorolac tromethamine combined with butorphanol tartrate in the treatment of acute pain after fracture surgery. METHODS:76 acute pain patients after fracture surgery were selected and ran-domly divided into control group and observation group, with 38 cases in each group. Control group was given Ketorolac trometh-amine injection 30 mg,ivgtt, and then 2 ml/h,0.5 mg/kg,ivgtt;observation group was additionally given butorphanol tartrate 10 mg,ivgtt,on the basis of control group. Pain degree was evaluated with VAS before and 10 min,1,2,4 and 6 h after treatment, and the occurrence of ADR was observed in 2 groups. RESULTS:10 min,1,2,4 and 6 h after treatment,VAS score of 2 groups were significantly lower than before, with statistical significance(P<0.05);6 h after treatment,VAS score of observation group was significantly higher than that of control group, with statistical significance (P<0.05);there was no statistical significance in VAS score between 2 groups 10 min,1,2 and 4 h after treatment (P>0.05). The incidence of ADR in observation group (5.26%)was significantly lower than in control group(21.05%),with statistical significance(P<0.05). CONCLUSIONS:Com-pared with ketorolac tromethamine alone, ketorolac tromethamine combined with butorphanol tartrate shows shorter analgesia dura-tion,similar therapeutic efficacy, and lower incidence of ADR.

Chinese Journal of Tissue Engineering Research 2005;9(41):136-137
BACKGROUND: lead can facilitate the active oxygen-derived free radicals formation, and make many tissue systems in oxidative stress situation especially during the process of lipid peroxidation in cerebral tissue.OBJECTIVE: To establish the dying lead model by making rat offspring to expose to lead during pregnant and breast-feed period, and observe effect of dying lead on the lipid peroxidation in central nervous system of different developmental stages,DESIGN: Randomized controlled study.SETTING: Liaoning Woman and Children Health Care College and Liaoning Tumor Institute.MATERIALS: The experiment was carried out at the Laboratory of China Medical University from June to August 2003. Totally 150 adult Wistar rats was utilized for the experiments. The ratio between female and male was 2:1. Seven days after feeding respectively, female and male rats were put together with the ratio of 2:1. The day in which the sperms were found in vaginal plug or in vaginal secretion was considered gestational day (GD)0 day. And 100 gestational rats were randomly divided into 4 groups, with solution). The lead-treated animals received solution containing lead acetate from GD 0 day, while the control animals received distilled water 5 mL from GD 0 day too, until 21 days after rat offspring giving birth.METHODS: Tissue sampling at the 21st day after rat offspring giving birth, the blood collected by head cutting of 10 rats in each group was used to determine blood lead level; brain tissue of 15 rats in each group was used to determine brain lead level, and the rest was made to be equal slurry to determine the level of lipid peroxidase (LPO), glutathione (GSH),and the activity of superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT) and glutathione peroxidase (GSH-PX).and activity of SOD, GSH-PX and CAT of 21-day-old rat offspring among different groups.RESULTS: Data of totally 100 infant rats was entered the final analysis.birth: Lead content of blood and brain of 21-day-old rats offspring in 0.5, 1and 2 g/L lead-treated groups were higher than those in control group observably (P < 0.01), and increased along with increase of the dose of expowas higher than that in control group [(34.56±6.96), (38.76±11.11),(23.33±5.23) mmol/g, P < 0.05-0.01], but activity of SOD in those two groups was lower than that in control group [(423.25±157.70),(426.92±161.53),(542.78±97.69) μkat/g, P < 0.05-0.01].CONCLUSION: Lead, metal toxicant, at moderate and high dosages can induce damage of nervous system during development through accelerating lipid peroxidation of cerebral tissue.
