Objective:To study the protecting effects of Luotai Injection Powder on cerebral ischemia. Methods: The protecting effects of Luotai Injection Powder on cerebral ischemia were studied on animal models of cerebral ischemia induced by ligaturing bilateral common carotid artery and decressing blood pressure. Results:Luotai Injection Powder (at doses of iv. 60mg/kg and 120mg/kg) significantly decreased the water content, capillary permeability and ischemia injury in brain of rats. In addition, it significantly increased the tolerance in mice at a dose of iv. 120mg/kg. Conclusions: Luotai Injction Powder has a protective effect on acute cerebral ischemia

Objective To investigate the relationship between the genetic polymorphisms, which played roles in the pathogenesis of metabolic syndrome (MS), and susceptibility of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) in Han people in Guangdong province. Methods The subjects were selected from an epidemiologie survey in Guangdong province. Fifty to 117 adult NAFLD patients, who met the criteria of Chinese guideline for diagnosis of NAFLD and had typically clinical, biochemical signs and abdominal ultrasonography, were recruited in the study. By using 1 : 1 matched method of nested case-control study, same numbers of people without NAFLD were included as controls. The genetic analyses was performed by using genomic DNA extracted from peripheral blood. Polymerase chain reaction (PCR)-restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) was applied to detect the single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) at 9 sites in 7 candidate genes. Results Most SNPs of the genes were related to the susceptibility of NAFLD. Some of them had positive relation (increasing the risk) such as tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α-238, adiponectin-45, leptin-2548, peroxisome proliferator-activated receptors (PPAR) γ-161 and phosphatidylethanolamine N-methyltransferase (PEMT)-175. Some had negative relation (decreasing the risk) including adiponectin-276 and hepatic lipase-514. And some had no relation (TNF-α-380 and PPAR g coactivator-1α-482). Conclusion Most cytokines' SNPs of candidate genes discovered in MS patients are related to the susceptibility of NAFLD.

Objective To assess the diagnostic value of contrast enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) in liver metastases. Methods Thirty-six patients were examined with conventional ultrasonography, then underwent continuous real-time CEUS with low mechanical index. The size, location, number and perfusion patterns of liver metastases were evaluated. Results In 36 patients, 67 liver metastases were found with conventional ultrasound and 106 liver metastasis were found with CEUS. The perfusion patterns of lesions were in four types: ①Thirty-seven lesions (34.91%) showed as total enhancement during the early arterial phase and hypoechoic appearance during the portal venous phase and the late phase;②Fifty-six lesions (52.83%) showed a peripheral rim-like hyperechonic enhancement during the arterial phase and fast wash-out in the portal phase;③Twelve lesions (11.32%) showed as isoechoic enhancement during the arterial phase and the portal phase and was hypoechoic in the late phase;④One lesion (0.94%) showed hypoechoic appearance during all phases. The dimension of the lesions played an important role in the perfusion patterns. Conclusion The enhancement pattern and time of lesions are closely correlated with the tumor arterial supply. CEUS has high value in diagnosing liver metastases.

Objective To explore the teaching effect of case-integrated scenario simulation instruction model on proba-tionary instruction of acute upper gastrointestinal bleeding. Methods A total of 40 medical students of grade 2021 majoring in clinical medicine, namely,Nanshan Class, from Guangzhou Medical University were selected as participants. The students were randomly divided into two groups, with 22 as an experimental group and 18 as a control group. The former group received the case-integrated based scenario simulation teaching model, while the latter adopted the traditional bedside teaching model. The teaching content was on acute non-variceal upper gastrointestinal bleeding. Results There was no statistically significant differ-ence in the total score of gastroenterology between the experimental group and the control group(P>0.05).The experimental group scored significantly higher in the gastrointestinal bleeding-related contents compared to the control group(P<0.05).The post-class survey revealed that the majority of the students in the research group expressed their high-level satisfaction with the new instruction model and demonstrated their greater interests in participation in the new instruction model. Conclusion The case-integrated scenario simulation instruction model demonstrates significant superiority to the traditional bedside teaching model in terms of stimulating learning interests, cultivating medical professionalism, and enlivening classroom atmosphere. It is suitable for practical teaching in gastroenterology and can be widely adopted as routine probationary teaching for undergraduate students.
6.Epigenetic regulation of drug metabolism and transport.
Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B 2015;5(2):106-112
The drug metabolism is a biochemical process on modification of pharmaceutical substances through specialized enzymatic systems. Changes in the expression of drug-metabolizing enzyme genes can affect drug metabolism. Recently, epigenetic regulation of drug-metabolizing enzyme genes has emerged as an important mechanism. Epigenetic regulation refers to heritable factors of genomic modifications that do not involve changes in DNA sequence. Examples of such modifications include DNA methylation, histone modifications, and non-coding RNAs. This review examines the widespread effect of epigenetic regulations on genes involved in drug metabolism, and also suggests a network perspective of epigenetic regulation. The epigenetic mechanisms have important clinical implications and may provide insights into effective drug development and improve safety of drug therapy.

【Objective】 To analyze the basic characteristics of whole blood donors from blood stations before and after the outbreak of COVID-19. 【Methods】 After excluding invalid data, data related to the basic characteristics of whole blood donors collected from 26 blood stations in China during 2018 to 2021 were statistically analyzed, including the trend of total whole blood donors, the number of repeated blood donors, the frequency of blood donation, the average age of donors and the recruitment of first-time blood donors. 【Results】 Affected by the epidemic, 8 out of 14 indicators were with large variations, accounting for 57%. The overall growth rate of total whole blood donors during the epidemic was higher than before the epidemic (P<0.05).The number of repeated blood donors has shown an increased trend, with a higher number during the epidemic than before (P<0.05). The frequency of blood donation was lower during the epidemic than before(P<0.05).Average ages of blood donors and female blood donors fluctuated widely during the epidemic, both higher than those before the epidemic(P<0.05).The donation rate of first-time blood donors <25 years old and ≥25 years old varied widely and irregularly during the epidemic (both P<0.05). The percentage of first-time blood donors fluctuated irregularly during the epidemic, with overall percentage lower than that before the epidemic(P<0.05). 【Conclusion】 Whole blood donors from 26 blood stations increased after the outbreak of COVID-19, and some indicators in certain areas showed significant fluctuations during the epidemic.
