Objective To investigate the aassociation of a microRNA-137 (miR-137) polymorphism, single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) rs1625579, with neurocognitive function in patients with schizophrenia. Methods A total of 250 patients with schizophrenia were included in this study. The positive and negative syndrome scale (PANSS) was used to evaluate patients. The brief assessment of cognition in schizophrenia (BACS) scale was used to determine neurocongnitive functions in patients. Blood samples of patients were collected, and SNaPshot technique was used to compare the neurocognitive functions of different genotypes of rs1625579. Results The genotypes of TT, GT and GG were 221 (88.4%), 28 (11.2%) and 1(0.4%). There was no significant difference in PANSS score between TT genotype carriers and G allele (GG+GT) carriers. The detection of BACS showed that the digit sequencing score was significantly lower in patients with TT genotype than that of G allele (GG+GT) carrier ( P<0.05). There were no significant differences in other scores of BACS evaluation between two groups of patients. Conclusion The miR-137 polymorphism influences the working memory performance of schizophrenic patients in Chinese Han population.

Objective:To analyze the intervention effect of a successfully created platform“intelligent interactive software for drug monitoring warning” on the decrease of medication errors and adverse drug events, and the increase of the drug treatment level. Meth-ods:The intensive care unit ( ICU) of our hospital was selected as the experiment group, and the ICU of the other two hospitals was used as the contrast group. During the first 18 months, both groups were without intervention. During the latter 18 months, the plat-form was used in the experiment group, and the clinical pharmacists employed alerts of the system in the practice of interaction with doctors to correct the medication errors. No intervention was performed in the contrast group. In addition, all adverse drug events in both groups were surveyed. Results:During the first period, 50 preventable adverse drug events were discovered with the incidence of 6. 8% in the experimental group. During the second period, the correct rate of the alerts was 97. 7%. Through the effective interven-tion,the alerts and their percentage in the prescriptions were from the maximum of 68 and 1. 1% to the minimum of 6 and 0. 1%. To-tally 17 preventable adverse drug events were found with the incidence of 2. 4% after the intervention. The decline was significant, 848 991 yuan of hospitalization expenses was saved, and 294 days of the length of stay were shortened. There was no change in the contrast group, and there was no change in unpreventable adverse drug events in the two groups before and after the intervention. Conclusion:The intelligent interactive software for drug monitoring warning can examine many sorts of medication errors, and decline the inci-dence rate of preventable adverse drug events in ICU. However, it needs to continuously improve the intelligence. Clinical pharmacists need to master the relevant conditions of patients to detect the irrational drug use based on the clinical practice for each patient.

Objective To evaluate the effects of docosahexaenoic acid ( DHA) on the expression of angiotensin?2 ( Ang?2) and vascular endothelial growth factor ( VEGF) in rat brain microvascular endo?thelial cells (BMVECs) subjected to oxygen?glucose deprivation (OGD). Methods Primarily cultured rat BMVECs were divided into 3 groups ( n=18 each) using a random number table: control group ( group C) , OGD group and DHA group. The cells were cultured with glucose?free and serum?free DMEM culture medium in OGD and DHA groups. In group DHA, DHA 40μmol was added, and then the cells were ex?posed to 1%O2?5%CO2?94%N2 in an air?tight incubator. The cells were cultured in the normal glucose and normal oxygen conditions in group C. All the cells were cultured for 24 h. Cell apoptosis was detected using Annexin V∕propidium iodide flow cytometry assay, and the apoptosis rate was calculated. The concentra?tions of Ang?2, VEGF, prostaglandin E2 ( PGE2 ) and prostacyclin ( PGI2 ) in the supernatant of the cul?ture medium were determined by enzyme?linked immunosorbent assay. The expression of Ang?2 mRNA and VEGF mRNA in cells was detected by real?time polymerase chain reaction. The expression of cyclooxygen?ase?2 ( COX?2) protein in cells was detected by Western blot. Results Compared with group C, the ap?
optosis rate and concentrations of Ang?2, VEGF, PGE2 and PGI2 in the supernatant were significantly in?creased, and the expression of Ang?2 mRNA, VEGF mRNA and COX?2 protein was significantly up?regu?lated in OGD and DHA groups (P<0.05). Compared with group OGD, the apoptosis rate and concentra?tions of Ang?2, VEGF, PGE2 and PGI2 in the supernatant were significantly decreased, and the expression of Ang?2 mRNA, VEGF mRNA and COX?2 protein was significantly down?regulated in group DHA ( P<0.05) . Conclusion DHA can inhibit the expression of Ang?2 and VEGF in rat brain BMVECs subjected to OGD and reduce cell apoptosis, and down?regulated expression of COX?2 protein is involved in the mecha?nism.
