1. Effect of Trifolium pratense isoflavones on osteoporosis rats induced by estrogen deficiency
Chinese Pharmaceutical Journal 2012;47(24):2000-2003
OBJECTIVE: To examine the effects of Trifolium pratense isoflavones (TPIF), the main active component of Trifolium pratense L., on ovariectomy-induced osteoporosis in rats. METHODS: A total of 60 six-month-old female rats were randomly assigned to a sham-operated group and five ovariectomized(OVX) groups, ie, OVX with vehicle(10 mL · kg-1 · d-1, ig), OVX with graded doses of TPIF(30, 60, and 90 mg · kg-1 · d-1, ig), and OVX with nilestriol(2.5 mg · kg-1 · week-1, ig). The animals were sacrificed after 12-week treatment. RESULTS: Compared to the OVX group, TPIF significantly inhibited the increase of body weight. In addition, TPIF administration significantly decreased serum levels of alkaline phosphatase (ALP) and tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase (TRAP), and increased serum level of estrogen. CONCLUSION: TPIF may be a potential alternative medicine for the prevention and treatment of postmenopausal osteoporosis. Its mechanism may be related to increasing estrogen level, inhibiting bone resorption, and promoting bone formation.

Objective To study the quality assurance(QA) and quality control(QC) of PACS image display device in the department of radiology equipped with PACS and radiology information system (RIS). Methods Routine maintenance and periodic calibration were performed using photometer and automatic calibration software according to American Association of Physicists in Medicine Task Group 18 (AAPM TG18) test patterns and evaluating criterion. Digital image and communication in medicine (DICOM) gray scale standard display function (GSDF) standard calibration ,maximum luminance and minimum luminance, luminance uniformity, display resolution and geometry distortion adjustment were performed quarterly on BARCO CRT displays. Results All the results were well conformed to the criteria recommended by the AAPM TG18. About 95 percents of radiological images were interpreted on the PACS diagnostic image display. Conclusion The QC program of PACS image display device is an essential to ensure high-quality in digital medical environment.

Objective To explore change of RBC[Ca2+]i levels in neonates with hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy(HIE)and the influence of nimodipine on RBC[Ca2+]i and its clinical significance. Methods Fifty-eight neonates with moderate and severe HIE were randomly divided into 2 groups including routine treatment group(n=28)and nimodipine group(n=30),and 20 healthy full-term neonates were selected as healthy control group.Based on the routine treatment,nimodipine[2 mg,0.5-1.0 ?g/(kg?min)] was given intravenously in the nimodipine group for 7-10 days.Blood samples were collected before and after treatment for 72 hours and 10-14 days, respectively. The levels of RBC[Ca2+]i were measured by Fura-2 pentakis(acetoxymethyl)ester[Fura-2/AM].The results were analyzed by SPSS 10.0 software. Results 1.The levels of RBC[Ca2+]i in neonates with HIE were significantly higher than those in healthy control group[(2.83?0.36)mmol/L vs(2.15?0.18)mmol/L,P

Epilepsy is a common nervous system disease, with a morbidity of 4.8‰-11.2‰,so there has been about 50 million patients globally.Drug treatment is a major mean to treat epileptic patients.Recently, researches illustrated that cellular immunity disorder and humoral immunity disorder were coexist in epleptic patients, but there was no consensus on whether it was induced by anti-epileptic drugs(AEDs) or epilepsy itself up to now. This article is aimed to explain the impact of AEDs on immunity through review recent literature internal and abroad.

Objective To explore the traits of error-related negativity (ERN) in generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) patients. Methods Thirty GAD patients and thirty normal controls were enrolled in this study. Use the Hamilton Anxiety Scale and State-Trait Anxiety Inventory to assess the severity of symptoms. Error-related negativity was elicited by the modified Eriksen Flanker task, recorded by Brain Products' EEG/ERP recording system, and the EEG signals were analyzed off line by Brain Analyzer software. Results There were no significant differences between two groups at age, gender composition, handedness and education (P > 0.05 ), the scores of HAMA, SAI and TAI were significantly higher in GAD group than NC group( t = 8.225, P < 0.001; t = 4.093, P <0.001; t = 6.742, P < 0.001 ) ,there were no significant difference in behavioral reactions between two groups (P >0.05) except for non-response rate(GAD:(15.29 ± 18.18)% ,NC:(7.23 ±7.99)%; t=2.184, P=0.035).The ERN amplitudes of GAD group were larger than these of NC group( FCz: GAD: ( -8.76 ±5.74) μV,NC:( -6.91 ± 3.07 )μV, F = 6.924, P = 0.012), yet the ERN latency did not show any significant group difference. There were no significant correlations between HAMA scores and ERN amplitudes/latencies. Conclusion The increased amplitudes of ERN possibly reflect the abnormally activated internal error monitoring process in GAD patients.

Objective To observe the changes of plasma pulmonary surfactant protein-A (SP-A) and serum ferritin (SF) in neonates with mechanical ventilation and its clinical significance in ventilation-induced lung injury (VILI).Methods The study was carried out in 36 neonates with mechanical ventilation and 31 neonates without mechanical ventilation .Plasma SP-A and SF levels in venous blood were mea- sured on 1,24,48,72 hours after mechanical ventilation and 24 hours after mechanical ventilation removal by Western-dot blot and radioimmunoassay (RIA).Plasma SP-A and SF levels of non-mechanical ventilation group were determined at the same time. Results Plasma SP-A levels in neonates on 24,48,72 hours after mechanical ventilation were significantly higher than those of non-mechanical ventilation group[( 2.20? 0.22)vs(1.97?0.29) ?g/L,(2.43?0.28)vs(1.94?0.33) ?g/L,(2.61?0.38)vs(1.80?0.34) ?g/L,respectively P

Objective To investigate the distribution and changes of basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF) and fibroblast growth factor receptor-1 (FGFR-1) in normal heart or heart after myocardial infarction (MI),and to explore beneficial effects of bFGF on heart after MI. Methods Eleven adult minipigs were randomly divided into 2 groups, control (n=5) and MI group (n=6). MI was induced by ligating the left anterior descending coronary artery. Sham-operation was carried out on the animals of control. bFGF-like-immunoreactivity (bFGF-ir) and FGFR-1-like-immunoreactivity (FGFR-1-ir) in heart tissues were detected by immuno-histochemistry and image analysts in 4 weeks after surgery. Results In controls,bFGF-ir and FGFR-1-ir in the atrium showed a considerable high level compared with 2 ventricles (P
