Metallothionein is a sulfhydryl-rich,and chelating a large number of metal ions,which is widely found in biological world.It is very highlighted that MT had the same physical and chemical features from different origins.Plenty of research data indicated that MTs contain 20 free sulfhydryl genes,as well as their sulfhydryl clusters,It is a multifunctional protein in health.Many experiments demonstrate that MTs may be a novel target of original new drugs because they play a role in regulating and controlling the organ fibrosis and tumor.

Objective To investigate the pathologic appearances,immunohistochemical features,and genetic changes of malignant triton tumor(MTT). Methods One case of MTT was studied pathologically and immunohistochemically,and the related literatures were reviewed. Results A huge mass,demonstrated in the thorax by X ray and CT scan was seen in the posterior mediastinum in the surgery.Histologically,the tumor was composed of spindle cells with significant atypia.Some of the tumor cells had dense eosinophilic cytoplasm.Immunohistochemical staining revealed positive for myoglobin,desmin and S-100 in most of the tumor cells.The pathological diagnosis was MTT of the posterior mediastinum. Conclusion Cases of MTT in the mediastinum are very rare,with less specific clinical and imaging manifestations.The diagnosis is mainly made on the basis of pathological examination and immunohistochemical staining.

Objective To investigate the value of thyroid transcription factor-1(TTF-1) in the diagnosis and biological behavior assessment of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Methods Thirty liver specimens obtained from benign lesions were analysed, among which 25 were hepatic cirrhosis and inflammatory diseases, and the other 5 were adenomas. And there were 176 specimens of liver tumors, among which 142 were HCC (well differentiated, n=12; moderately differentiated, n=57; poorly differentiated, n=73), 17 were intrahepatic cholangiocellular carcinoma (ICC) and the other 17 were liver metastatic carcinoma (MC). The expression of TTF-1 was examined immunohistochemically in the above tissues, and the difference in expression of TTF-1 among different tissues was examined by Fisher's exact test, Kruskal-Wallis test and Spearman rank correlation analysis. Results TTF-1 was significantly expressed in the cytoplasms of all the hepatocytes besides tumors and liver benign lesions. AIM:To investigate the effects of pioglitazone on the quantity and function-related factors of regu-latory and effector T cells ( Treg and Teff ) of uremic apolipoprotein E knockout mice in vitro with or without the stimulation of atherosclerotic plaque-specific antigen oxidized low-density lipoprotein ( oxLDL) .METHODS:Uremic apolipoprotein E knockout mouse model was established by 2-step surgical procedure.After intervention with different concentrations ( 2μmol/L and 20μmol/L) of pioglitazone and PPARγantagonist GW9662 (5μmol/L) on splenocytes of uremic mice for 12 h in the presence or absence of oxLDL (2 mg/L), the levels of CD4 +CD25 +Foxp3 +Treg and IFNγ+CD4 +Teff were de-termined by flow cytometry.The mRNA expressions of Foxp3 and IFNγwas detected by real-time fluorescent quantitative PCR.RESULTS:In vitro, oxLDL induced a Treg/Teff imbalance in splenocytes from the uremic mice.Pioglitazone up-regulated the level of Treg and mRNA expression of Foxp3 in the presence of oxLDL, which was not antagonized by GW9662.Meanwhile, pioglitazone downregulated the level of Teff and mRNA expression of IFNγin the presence or ab-sence of oxLDL, which was reversed by GW9662.CONCLUSION:oxLDL induces a Treg/Teff imbalance in uremic apo-lipoprotein E knockout mice.Pioglitazone modulates the Treg/Teff imbalance probably through PPARγ-independent and-dependent mechanisms.

Objective To discuss the aged people N-terminal pro-B-type natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP)changes in thyroid function disorder and its correlation.Methods With electrochemical luminescence analyzer,detected serum NT-proBNP lev-el 38 patients with hyperthyroid heart disease,68 patients with hyperthyroidism,31 patients with hypothyroidism,and 43 ca-ses of healthy controls.Compared each groupserum NT-proBNP level of older population with middle-aged people,and anal-ysied the correlation.Results The serum NT-proBNP level of Hyperthyroidism heart group,hyperthyroidism,hypothyroid-ism group and normal control group were 827.61±626.13,107.18±54.46,162.94±134.14,68.76±39.21 pg/ml,respec-tively.The serum level of HT-pro BNP.Hyperthyroidism group,hyperthyroidism,hypothyroidism group compared with nor-mal control group,there were statistically significan(t = 7.458,4.312,3.794,P = 0.000,0.000,0.001).Hyperthyroidism heart,hypothyroidism with hyperthyroidism group serum level of NT-proBNP comparison there was statistical significance(t=7.078,2.232;P = 0.000,0.032).Hyperthyroidism heartgroup,hypothyroidism group and normal control group older population was higher than the level of serum NT-proBNP middle-aged,difference was statistically significant (t=-3.216,-2.510,-2.653;P =0.007,0.016,0.014).Hyperthyroidism group of elderly serum NT-proBNP level higher than that of middle-aged people,but there was no statistically significant difference (t=-0.140,P =0.890).Multiple regression analy-sis in hyperthyroidism group serum levels of NT-proBNP and FT4 had positive correlation (r=0.224,P =0.033)and hypo-thyroidismgroup serum levels of NT-proBNP and T3 had negative correlation (r=-0.363,P =0.022).Conclusion Thy-roid dysfunction in elderly people for the level of serum NT-proBNP had significant influence.Auxiliary disgnosis and cura-tive effect observation of the serum level of NT-proBNP in people with different thyroid functional status has certain clinical value.
