Objective To understand the features of lymphatic vessel,and to summarize the foundation and mechanism of the promotion and inhibition of tumor lymphangiogenesis recorded on the current studies of animal ex- periments and clinical researches.Methods The related literatures of the structural features of lymphatic vessel, lymphatic endothelial molecular markers,the origin of lymphatic tumors,the molecular mechanisms and regulatory factors were reviewed,and the relationship between tumor lymphangiogenesis and lymphatic metastasis,the treat- ment targeting at the formation of the anti-tumor lymphatic vessel and its existing problems were also analyzed.Re- suits Hyperplasia of lymphatic vessels occurred during the process of tumor formation and progression.The struc- tural features of the lymphatic vessels in the tumor were conducive to tumor lymphatic metastasis.In recent years, methods of anti-lymphangiogenesis and inhibition of tumor lymphatic metastasis had achieved considerable success in animal experiments.However,there were still a lot of problems need to be solved.Conclusion Tumor lymphangio- genesis has a significantly positive correlation between tumor lymphatic metastasis and patients'prognosis,which may indicate that treatment against the formation of tumor lymphatic vessel maybe effective.

OBJECTIVE: To study the clinical efficacy of mouse nerve growth factor (NGF) in the treatment of sudden deafness. METHOD: A retrospective analysis was performed on 115 cases of hospitalized patients who were suffered from sudden deafness. Patients were divided into two groups according to treatment medicine. Control group: patients were treated with intravenous vasodilators, energy mixture, steroid pulse therapy, and methylcobalamin neurotrophic therapy. NGF group: intramuscular NGF treatment was added on the basis of conventional therapy mentioned above. Both treatments lasted 14 days, the total efficiency were compared. Patients were further divided into sub-groups according to age, duration and the level of pre-treatment PTA, and the treatment efficiency was further compared. By SPSS 11.0 statistical analysis, a P < 0.05 was considered as statistical significant difference. RESULT: (1) The total efficiency of NGF group was significantly higher than control group. (2) Regard of age, the efficiency of NGF treatment group was significantly higher than control group. (3) For the patients whose duration were less than 7 d, or the PTA < or = 60 dBHL, the efficiency of NGF group were significantly higher. For the patients whose duration were more than 7 d, or the PTA>60 dBHL, the efficiency of NGF therapy was not superior to the traditional treatment. CONCLUSION NGF can significantly improve the symptom of patients with short duration or low PTA. For this kind of patients, NGF adjuvant therapy should be recommended. For the patients with longer duration and higher level of PTA, NGF therapy is not advocated. NGF treatment should not be in consideration of the age.

Objective To evaluate septin-9 and clusterin protein levels in the peripheral blood samples from epithelial ovarian cancer patients, and explore its clinical significance. Methods Clinical data of 200 patients in Cancer Hospital,Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences from Jan. 29, 2008 to Feb. 1,2010 were collected. The peripheral blood samples were obtained from 137 epithelial ovarian cancer patients, 12 borderline ovarian tumor patients, 10 benign ovarian tumor patients, 41 benign pelvic lesion patients and 58 healthy women. The septin-9 and clusterin protein levels in the plasma were measured by double antibody sandwich ELISA or ELISA. The clinical significance of clusterin and septin-9 in plasma was analyzed. The diagnostic efficacy of septin-9 and clusterin protein in the detection of ovarian cancer was evaluated by the area under the curve (AUC) of the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve. Results Double antibody sandwich ELISA showed: the mean levels of plasma septin-9 in epithelial ovarian cancer patients or benign pelvic lesion patients were significantly higher than that in healthy women detedted by double antibody sandwich ELISA (P<0.01). The mean levels of plasma septin-9 in epithelial ovarian carcinoma patients with tumor family history or distance metastasis were significantly higher than those patients without (P<0.05). While the expression level of septin-9 protein in peripheral blood of ovarian cancer patients was not related to the patient age, pathologic stage, pathologic differentiation, smoking history, treatment history (including surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy) and lymph node metastasis (all P>0.05). ELISA showed: the mean level of plasma clusterin in epithelial ovarian cancer patients was significantly higher than that in healthy women deteded by ELISA (P=0.021). The expression level of clusterin protein in peripheral blood of ovarian cancer patients was not related to the above clinical pathological parameters (all P>0.05). To distinguish between ovarian cancer patients and healthy women by septin-9 protein expression level in plasma, when AUC was 0.712 and cut off was 0.28, the sensitivity of detection ovarian cancer by septin-9 protein expression was 82.5%, and the specificity was 50.0%. To distinguish between ovarian cancer patients and healthy women by clusterin protein expression level in plasma, when AUC was 0.636 and cut off was 87.96 pg/L, the sensitivity of detection ovarian cancer by clusterin protein expression was 71.5%, and the specificity was 41.4%. Conclusions The expression of septin-9 and clusterin protein in peripheral blood of ovarian cancer patients is increased, especially the expression level of septin-9 protein with related to the distant metastasis. The study results shown that the detection of septin-9 and clusterin in plasma has a certain diagnosis value in ovarian cancer, which may be a potential markers for ovarian cancer.

Objective To explore the influence of sodium selenite(Na2SeO3) and sodium phosphate(Na3PO4)given alone or combined on inhibition of liver cell proliferation of mouse exposed to sodium arsenite(NaAsO2) in vitro.Methods Primary mouse liver cell were treated with 8.0 μmol/L NaAsO2.Based on the two-factor and three-level (3 × 3) factorial design,the cells were randomly assigned into nine groups and cultured with different dosage of Na2SeO3(0.0,5.0,10.0 μmol/L) and Na3PO4(0.0,7.5,15.0 μmol/L),respectively.Liver cell activity was examined with thiazole blue reduction method (MTT) and the protective effect of Na2SeO3 and Na3PO4 on cell proliferation inhibition was tested.Results Different dose of Na2SeO3 had different protective effect on proliferation inhibition of mouse liver cell exposed to NaAsO2(F =35.743,P ＜ 0.05),so did Na3PO4(F =35.182,P ＜ 0.05).Meanwhile there was an interaction between Na2SeO3 and Na3PO4(F =13.702,P ＜ 0.05).The most significant intervention effect was observed in the group given low dose of Na2SeO3 (5.0 μmol/L) plus high dose of Na3PO4(15.0 μmol/L).Through pairwise comparison we found that there was no significant difference between the high and the low dose of Na3PO4 exposure groups of the protective effect on inhibiting of cell proliferation when the dosage of Na2SeO3 was fixed at certain levels(0.575 ± 0.070 vs 0.570 ± 0.017,0.789 ± 0.047 vs 0.797± 0.026,0.648 ± 0.027 vs 0.674 ±0.034,all P ＞ 0.05).However,when the dose of Na3PO4 was fixed,there was a significant difference between the high and the low dose of Na2SeO3 exposure groups(0.629 ± 0.026 vs 0.755 ± 0.063,0.789 ± 0.047 vs 0.648 ± 0.027,0.797 ± 0.026 vs 0.674 ± 0.034,all P ＜ 0.05).Conclusion A certain dose of Na2SeO3 and Na3PO4 has independent and combined antagonistic action to inhibition of mouse liver cell proliferation induced by NaAsO2 in vitro.

Abstract: Objective　This study aims to explore the prevalence and risk factors of metabolic syndrome (MS) among the adults in Hainan Province, and to provide scientific basis for MS prevention and control. Methods　A multi-stage cluster random sampling method was applied to select 3 690 permanent residents aged 18 years and above in Hainan Province. The survey was conducted by trained investigators using household appointments and centralized surveys. A questionnaire survey, physical measurement, and laboratory examination were conducted after the collection of blood samples. The processed samples were then tested by a quality-controlled laboratory. Finally, we analysed the prevalence of metabolic syndrome (MS) and its relationship with population characteristics and health-related behaviors. Results　The crude prevalence of MS in the population aged 18 and above in Hainan province was 19.46% and the standardized prevalence was 13.21%, with a higher rate in urban areas (22.21%) than in rural areas (18.13%). The prevalence of MS increased with age (P<0.001), and there were significant differences in MS prevalence among different marital and occupational statuses (P<0.01). Logistic regression results indicated that the age groups of 40-<50 years (OR=2.986, 95%CI:1.355-6.580), 50-<60 years (OR=3.739, 95%CI: 1.715-8.151), 60-<70 years (OR=3.890, 95%CI: 1.769-8.556), 70 years and above (OR=3.927, 95%CI: 1.758-8.771), technical, transportation and production personnel (OR=1.579, 95%CI: 1.033-2.412), retired (OR=1.788, 95%CI: 1.415-2.259), unemployed (OR=1.503, 95%CI: 1.044-2.165), smoking cessation (OR=1.582, 95%CI: 1.162-2.154), insufficient intake of fruits and vegetables (OR=1.196, 95%CI: 1.005-1.422), and insufficient physical activity (OR=1.437, 95%CI: 1.155-1.787) were all associated with the prevalence of MS. Among the investigated subjects, 30.22% of them had one abnormal component, with hyperglycemia being the highest (54.44%); 24.25% of them had two abnormal components, with "hyperglycemia + hypertension" being the highest (33.30%); and 19.46% had three or more components, with "overweight/obesity + hyperglycemia + hypertension" being the highest (24.79%). Conclusions　The prevalence of MS in Hainan Province is on the rise, and effective lifestyle intervention measures are needed to reduce the risk of MS.

Sanjie Zhentong capsules were scanned by using a near infrared spectra probe with different drug mass fraction and the spectral information of capsule shells and contents in it were obtained. Then partial least squares (PLS) models were developed for the prediction of mass fraction of Fritillariae Thunbergii Bulbus and Resine draconis in Sanjie Zhentong capsules. The correlation coefficient (r9c)) and root mean standard error( RMSEC) of 0.949 5, 0.958 2 and 4.742 4, 4.135 7. The models obtained correlation coefficient (r(v)) of 0.919 2, 0.936 7 and root mean square error (RMSECV) of 6.158 9, 5.037 3 respectively in the training set. The paired T test analysis of statistics showed that there were no significant difference between predictive values and measure values. The established models reflected a strong prediction performance and can meet the needs of the production.

Objective To investigate the influences of UVA on the secretion and expression of chemokine CXCL11/I-TAC by HaCaT cells induced by interferon γ (IFN-γ) and tumor necrosis factor α (TNF-α). Methods HaCaT cells were cultured in the presence of IFN-7 and TNF-a and irradiated with UVA of 2, 4 and 8 J/cm~2, respectively; those cells receiving neither treatment with IFN-γ or TNF-α nor UVA irradiation served as the negative control, and those receiving only cytokine treatment but no irradiation as the positive control. After another 24-hour culture, enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) was performed to detect the protein levels of CXCL11/I-TAC in the supernatant of HaCaT celb, real time PCR to measure the mRNA expression of CXCL11/I-TAC in these HaCaT cells. Results As far as the negative control HaCaT cells were concerned, there was a minor secretion of CXCL11/I-TAC protein and expression of CXCL11/I-TAC mRNA. After treatment with IFN-7 and TNF-a of 10 μg/L, the protein and mRNA expressions of CXCL11/ I-TAC were synergistically upregulated, whereas the induced secretion and expression of CXCL11/I-TAC by HaCaT cells were dose-dependently inhibited by UVA irradiation. Conclusions UVA irradiation inhibits the secretion and expression of CXCL11/I-TAC by HaCaT cells, which in turn suppresses the chemotaxis of Th1/ Tel cells in some degree.

Objective: To understand the prevalence of dating violence experienced by gay men in Guangzhou. Methods: A self-report surveys were collected and analyzed from 510 gay men and 510 heterosexual males. Respondents were assessed with the self-made social demographic information questionnaire, Dating Violence Questionnaire (DVQ). DVQ included three parts which were five types of violence (controlling, emotional, security threatening, physical and sexual violence), whether they were threatened of disclosure of their sexual orientation to the public ("outing") and whether they had seek for help from other individuals or organizations after the violence as stated above. Results: The rate of reported at least one type of dating violence in gay men was 34.5％. Controlling for age, education, place of household registration etc., in logistic regression models, gay men were 5.08 times (95％ CI: 3.54——7.29) more likely to report any type of dating violence comparing to male heterosexual males. And 12.6％ gay men experienced the threat of being outed. Among those gay men who experienced dating violence, 85.2％ of them did not seek any help from anyone or any organization. Conclusion: Overall, the prevalence of dating violence among gay men is higher than that of heterosexual males. It is necessary to have targeted interventions for dating violence among gay men.

The changes of interstitial cells of Cajal(ICC)distribution and connexin 43(Cx43)expression in gastric muscle layers were assayed in gastroparesis models of streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats.The results showed that gastric emptying was significantly delayed,the contraction frequency and amplitude of gastric muscle segments were greatly decreased,Cx43 gray values were significantly increased and Cx43 distributed homogeneously with ICC immunopositivity in the model rats.These changes appear to be related to the pathogenesis of diabetic gastroparesis.
