1.Study on medicinal plant resources and diversity in Rhinopithecus bieti national natural reserve of Markam in Tibet.

This research was a part of the investigation of traditional Chinese medicine resources survey in Markam. The medicinal plants in natural reserve were studied for the first in this paper. There were 300 species in 202 genera of 54 families, among them there were 7 species of ferns in 5 genera of 5 families, 6 species of gymnosperms in 4 genera of 3 families, and 287 species of angiosperms in 194 genera of 61 families. There were 166 species Tibetan medicinal plants in 102 genera of 47 families. Quantitative analysis was carried out in 6 aspects of family and genus composition, medicinal parts, drug properties, flavour of a drug, Tibetan medicine, toxicity and new plants. The concrete suggestions of protection and exploitation were put forward, which provided scientific basis for the sustainable utilization of medicinal plants in this area.

2.Influence of β-amyloid peptide on expressions of synaptophysin, dynamin Ⅰ and adaptor protein 180 in human neuroblastoma SH-SYSY cells

Objective To study the effect of β-amyloid peptide (Aβ1-42) on expressions of synaptophysin (Syn), dynamin Ⅰ (Dyn Ⅰ) and adaptor protein 180 (AP180) in human neuroblastoma SH-SY5Y cells. Methods Human SH-SY5Y neuroblastoma cells were treated with 0.01, 0.1, 1, 2 and 5 μmol/L Aβ1-42, and control cells were given no treatment. MTT [3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol- 2- yl) - 2, 5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide]reduction of the cells was measured by spectrophotometry. The protein levels of Syn, Dyn Ⅰ and AP180 in SH-SY5Y cells treated with 0.5 and 1 μmol/L Aβ1-42 were surveyed by Western blotting. The mRNA levels of Syn, Dyn Ⅰ and AP180 were detected by Real-time PCR in SH-SY5Y cells treated with 1 μmol/L Aβ1-42. Results SH-SY5Y cells showed obviously decreased reduction rates of MTT after exposure to Aβ1-42(0.1 μmol/L) as compared with the controls (P<0.05), and dose-dependent negative correlation was noted in these SH-SY5Y cells. The protein level of Dyn Ⅰ in cells treated with 0.5 μmol/L Aβ1-42 was significantly decreased as compared with that in controls (P<0.05). The protein and mRNA levels of Syn and Dyn Ⅰ in cells treated with 1 μ mol/L Aβ1-42 Were obviously decreased as compared with those in controls (P<0.05), but the levels of AP180 were not changed. Conclusion Aβ1-42 reduces the levels of Syn and Dyn Ⅰ in SH-SY5Y cells, which might be a mechanism in eonnection with cognitive deficit of AD.
3.Dysconnectivity of multiple resting-state networks in patients with schizophrenia with auditory verbal hallucinations

Objective:To explore the traits of functional connectivity of resting-state networks in patients of schizophrenia with auditory verbal hallucinations (AVH) by using independent component analysis (ICA).Methods:All patients were met the Diagnostic and Statistical Mannal of Mental Disorders,Fourth Edition,Text Revision (DSM-IV-TR) diagnostic criteria for schizophrenia.Thirty schizophrenia patients with frequent AVH (AVH),24 schizophrenia patients without AVH (non-AVH) and 60 healthy controls (HC) matching with age and gender were analyzed by resting functional magnetic resonance imaging.The AVH were assessed by using Hoffman auditory hallucination scale.By using ICA,auditory network (AUN),language network (LAN),salience network (SAN),right front-parietal network (RFP) and default mode network (DMN) were selected as interesting networks for further analyses.Covariance analysis was used to compare the activity and functional connectivity of multiple resting state networks between three groups,and correlation analysis was used to evaluate the relations between abnormalities of brain and the severity of hallucination.Results:Compared to non-AVH,AVH group showed increased activity in left superior temporal gyrus (STG) and left postcentral gyrus (LPG) in the AUN,and showed decreased activity in right anterior cingulate cortex (ACC) in the SAN (P < 0.05,FDR corrected).The severity of AVH group was associated with activity of the left STG (r =0.43,P <0.05) and the right ACC (r =-0.48,P <0.01).Furthermore,compared to non-AVH group,there were decreased connectivity between LAN and AUN [(-0.29 ±0.21) vs.(-0.16 ± 0.17),P < 0.05,uncorrected],decreased connectivity between SAN and LAN [(-0.09 ± 0.22) vs.(-0.06 ± 0.18),P < 0.05,uncorrected],increased connectivity between SAN and AUN [(0.30 ± 0.18) vs.(0.15 ± 0.24),P < 0.05,uncorrected] in AVH group.Conclusion:There may be aberrant functional connectivities of AUN,LAN and SAN in schizophrenia patients with frequent AVH,and the occurrence of AVH seems to be related to brain areas involved in language production,speech perception and self-monitoring.
4.Analysis of electric sacral neuromdulation and resiniferatoxin in treatment of primary female overactive bladder

Objective To analyze the efficacy of electric sacral neuromdulation and resiniferatoxin in patients with female overactive bladder.Methods 32 cases with IOAB female patients accepted percutaneous test sitmulation of the electric sacral nerves at S3 ,and treated by intravesical instillation with 100ml of 100nmol/L RTX.The effica- cy of voiding status were evaluated.The improvement of female patients life were evaluated comparing the rating of depression and anxiety.Results There were significant improvements in 32 cases in variables included the number of voiding,volume voided and signs every day and urgent uresis.In the rating of depression and anxiety,the patients improved a litter and still had stimulating symptom in urethra and bladder.Conclusion The treatment of IOAB with single administratoon of electric sacral neuromdulation and resiniferatoxin is effective,and can successfully im- prove the symptom with little side effects.
5.Isolation and Characterization of a New High Efficient H2-producing Bacterium Enterococcus sp. LG1

12 strains of H2-producing bacteria were isolated and purified from anaerobic sludge, aerobic sludge and river bottom sludge by Hungate method. A new species of high efficient hydrogen production bacterium Enterococcus sp. LG1 (registration number: EU258743 ) was studied deeply. It was showed that the Enterococcus sp. LG1 was an anaerobic and Gram-negative bacterium. Sequence analysis of this type of clones showed that it was affiliated with the genus Enterococcus and it was not reported yet in other paper at present. Meanwhile, batch tests of anaerobic fermentative hydrogen production by Enterococcus sp. LG1 were investigated by using sterilization pretreated sludge as substrate. The changes of soluble COD, protein, carbohydrate and pH value during hydrogen fermentation were monitored. It was found that only hydrogen and carbon dioxide were produced by this strain and no methane was detected during fermentation. The maximal hydrogen yield was 36.48 mL/g TCOD and the hydrogen concentration in the gas phase was 73.5%. The Enterococcus sp. LG1 was a butyrate fermentation bacteria analyzed by metabolites.
6.Parents' perception and their decision on their children's vaccination against seasonal influenza in Guangzhou.

BACKGROUNDSeasonal influenza epidemic occurs every year in Guangzhou, which can affect all age groups. Young children are the most susceptible targets. Parents can decide whether to vaccinate their children or not based on their own consideration in China. The aim of this study was to identify factors that are important for parental decisions on vaccinating their children against seasonal influenza based on a modified health belief model (HBM).
METHODSA cross-sectional study was conducted in Guangzhou, China. A total of 335 parents who had at least on child aged between 6 months and 3 years were recruited from women and children's hospital in Guangzhou, China. Each eligible subject was invited for a face-to-face interview based on a standardized questionnaire.
RESULTSUptake of seasonal influenza within the preceding 12 months among the target children who aged between 6 months and 36 months was 47.7%. Around 62.4% parents indicated as being "likely/very likely" to take their children for seasonal influenza vaccination in the next 12 months. The hierarchical logistic regression model showed that children's age (odds ratio [OR] =2.59, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.44-4.68), social norm (OR = 2.08, 95% CI: 1.06-4.06) and perceived control (OR = 2.96, 95% CI: 1.60-5.50) were significantly and positively associated with children's vaccination uptake within the preceding 12 months; children with a history of taking seasonal influenza vaccine (OR = 2.50, 95% CI: 1.31-4.76), perceived children's health status (OR = 3.36, 95% CI: 1.68-6.74), worry/anxious about their children influenza infection (OR = 2.31, 95% CI: 1.19-4.48) and perceived control (OR = 3.21, 95% CI: 1.65-6.22) were positively association with parental intention to vaccinate their children in the future 12 months. However, anticipated more regret about taking children for the vaccination was associated with less likely to vaccinate children within the preceding 12 months (OR = 0.21, 95% CI: 0.08-0.52).
CONCLUSIONSThe modified HBM provided a good theoretical basic for understanding factors associated with parents' decisions on their children's vaccination against seasonal influenza.

7.Treating primary liver cancer patients by Pi-strengthening and Qi-regulating method: univariate and multivariate analyses of their prognoses.

OBJECTIVETo evaluate the prognostic factors in treating primary liver cancer (PLC) patients by Pi-strengthening and qi-regulating method (PSQRM), thus providing evidence and optimizing Pi-strengthening and qi-regulating program.
METHODSClinical data of 151 PLC patients treated by PSQRM at Oncology Department, Guangdong Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from May 2007 to March 2009 were retrospectively analyzed. The univariate analysis was determined to analyze possible prognostic factors. Selected key factors were introduced into the COX proportional hazard model, and multivariate analysis was carried out.
RESULTSThe 1-year survival rate was 21.85%, the median survival time was 6.80 months, and the mean survival time was 8.98 months. The univariate analysis showed that Chinese medicine (CM) syndrome types, clinical symptoms at the initial diagnosis, ascites, tumor types, ratios of foci, portal vein tumor thrombus, intrahepatic metastasis, a-fetoprotein (AFP) levels, total bilirubin classification, albumin classification, Child-Pugh classification, and domestic staging of liver cancer were significant prognostic factors (P < 0.05). The statistic data of multivariate analysis indicated that CM syndrome types, ascites, tumor types, portal vein tumor thrombus, AFP levels, Child-Pugh classification, and domestic staging of liver cancer were independent factors influencing prognosis (P < 0.05).
CONCLUSIONThe prognosis of PLC treated with PSQRM is determined by multiple factors including CM syndrome types, ascites, tumor types, portal vein tumor thrombus, AFP levels, Child-Pugh classification, and domestic staging of liver cancer.

8.Effects of cold stress on blood cell parameters of partial sleep deprivation mice.

AIMTo investigate the effect of cold, partial sleep deprivation, partial sleep deprivation plus cold on blood routine parameters and erythrocyte sedimentation rate of mice.
METHODSTwenty-four Mus musculus mice were divided into four groups (n=6) randomly: (1) control, (2) cold group: mice were treated with (10 +/- 2) degrees C cold stimulation for four hours per day, (3) partial sleep deprivation group: mice were deprived sleep from 18:00 to 9:00 next day, (4) partial sleep deprivation plus cold group: mice were treated with cold stimulation based on partial sleep deprivation. After four days treatment, the mice were sacrificed and the blood was collected to detect the blood routine parameters and erythrocyte sedimentation rate.
RESULTSCompared with the control, cold stimulation would increase the contents and proportion of lymphocyte significantly. Partial sleep deprivation would decrease the white blood cell contents, lymphocyte contents and lymphocyte proportion significantly. After treated with cold stimulation plus partial sleep deprivation, the white blood cell and lymphocyte contents decreased and the erythrocyte sedimentation rate increased evidently compared with other three groups.
CONCLUSIONPartial sleep deprivation could inhibit immune function of the mice. When the mice were treated with cold stimulation plus partial sleep deprivation, the immune function of the mice would be inhibited further more and at the same time the erythrocyte sedimentation rate increased significantly.

9.Preparation and Application of Ornidazole Magnetic Imprinted Polymers with Dual Functional Monomers

The magnetic molecularly imprinted polymers ( MMIPs ) was synthesiZed by suspension polymers technique using ornidaZole ( ONZ) as template, and methacrylic acid ( MAA) and acrylamide ( AA) as the binary functional monomers.The MMIPs were characteriZed by means of scanning electron microscopy ( SEM ) , Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy ( FT-IR ) , vibrating sample magnetometer ( VSM ) , thermogravimetric analysis ( TGA) and ultraviolet-visible ( UV-Vis) spectrophotometer.The results indicated that the adsorption capacity of MMIPs using the binary functional monomers to ONZ was higher than that using single functional monomer or that of its structural analogues.The Scatchard plot revealed that the template polymer system had a two-site binding behavior and the MMIPs exhibited the maximum rebinding to ONZ at 48.96 μmol/g and 10.60 μmol/g.Combined with high performance liquid chromatographic analysis technology, the prepared MMIPs were successfully applied to extract and enrich trace nitroimidaZoles from river water samples with recoveries range of 85.4%-104.3%.The precision of the results was good, and the manipulation of the developed method was simple and fast comparing to other methods.
10.Radiographic Measurement of Femoral Lateral Bowing and Distal Femoral Condyle Resection Thickness: Variances and Effects on Total Knee Arthroplasty Planning

Background:Accurate evaluation of the plain radiography of lower limb is critical for preoperative planning of total knee arthroplasty (TKA). We aimed to investigate the effect of femoral lateral bowing and rotation on the radiographic measurements of distal femoral condyle resection thickness (DRT) and the distal femoral resection valgus angle (FVA). Methods: We analyzed 246 three?dimensional femoral models generated from computed tomography images of 123 patients, acquiring projected contours in seven positions – 20° and 10° internal rotation; 0° rotation; 10°, 20°, 30°, and 40° external rotation – for each model. Medial and lateral condyle DRTs, femoral shaft lateral bowing angle (FBA), and distal FVA were determined for each position. Linear mixed effect model was used to determine the effect of degree of femur rotation on repeated measurements of DRT or FVA. Results: FBA significantly affected the FVA and DRT (Pearson's R = 0.767 and ?0.408, respectively; P < 0.000). Samples were divided into three groups according to the FBA measured in neutral position: FBA <0°: DRT 3.75 ± 1.30 mm, FVA 4.53° ± 1.27°; FBA >0° but <3°: DRT 3.39 ± 1.31 mm, FVA 5.92° ± 1.31°; FBA >3°: DRT 2.22 ± 1.31 mm, FVA 7.37° ± 1.31°. From simulated 20° internal rotation to 40° external rotation in each femoral model, the average variation ranges of radiographically measured DRT, FVA, and FBA were 0.50 ± 0.28 mm, 2.93° ± 0.96°, and 10.33° ± 1.90°, respectively, with no significant differences among the FBA groups. The degree of femoral rotation significantly affected the FVA (F = 62.148, P < 0.000), whereas there was no effect on condyle resection thickness (F = 0.4705, P = 0.494). Conclusions: Axial femoral rotation has less effect on radiographic measurements of differences in the DRT than on those of the distal FVA.
