Titanium & titanium alloy are popular in dentistry as dental material because of their good mechanical properties and extremely good biocompatibility. The bonding strength between the titanium and the resin agent is the decisive factor in evaluating the success of resin-bonded restoration. Appropriate surface treatment on the titanium is an effective way to reinforce the bending strength. The purpose of this review is to summarise the relevant studies and introduce some latest findings.

Objective To evaluate the efficacy of percutaneous laser hypothermia in the treatment of lumbar discogenic pain. Methods From June 2006 to March 2008,35 patients with lumbar discogenic pain were treated by low-frequency laser hypothermia in our hospital with 1 second impulse time,1 second interval time,3.5 w power,and 30 minutes duration. The effectiveness of the therapy was evaluated afterwards. Results Among the cases,15 patients were treated by one operation,20 patients received a second therapy,and 6 underwent the therapy for totally 3 time; the treatment was effective in 32 cases (excellent in 7,good in 24,and fair in 1). The therapy is ineffective in 2 cases. One case was converted to open surgery for unsatisfying outcomes of the laser hypothermia. The total effective rate was 91.4%(32/35),and fineness rate was 88.6%(31/35). Conclusions Percutaneous laser hypothermia is an effective treatment for lumbar discogenic pain. The indications for the procedure should be selected strictly.

Objective To study the mental status and its influencing factors of patients with rheumatic disease. Methods Three hundreds and eighty-one patients with rheumatic diseases were assessed with the self-rating anxiety scale, self-rating depressive scale, Eysenck Personality Questionnaire symptom checklist-90, and demographic characteristics questionnaire. The comparison among groups were tested by t tests, Spearman's correlation analysis. Results Patients with anxiety symptoms accounted for 35.96%, and pre-valence rate of depression was 48.03%. The gender (r=0.87, OR=2.34) and duration (r=0.006, OR=1.006) were the risk factors and the C4 (r=-2.63, OR=0.07) was the protective factor. In patients with systemic lupus erythematosus, depression was related to education (Z=2.228, P=0.026), disease duration (Z=-2.015,P=0.044), IgG level (t=-2.266, P=0.027), T cell subsets CD8 (Z=1.981, P=0.047) and CD3 (Z=1.967, P=0.049). Anxiety was related to education (Z=2.452, P=0.014), duration (Z=-2.054, P=0.04), complement C3 (t=2.035, P=0.045), C4 (Z=-2.204, P=0.028) and IgG level (t=-2.126, P=0.036). The value of CRP(Z=-1.984, P=0.047) and IgM (t=2.243, P=0.028) of rheumatoid arthritis patients were higher in the depression group. The depression group was different in disease duration (Z=-2.631, P=0.009), gender ( χ2=4.415, P=0.042), ESR (Z=2.17, P=0.023) and CD3 cell (Z=2.023, P=0.043) in Sj?gren's syndrome patients. Correlation analysis showed positive correlation between the score of SDS, SAS and the P value (r=0.21, P=0.01) (r=0.14, P=0.007) N dimension (r=0.52, P=0.01) (r=0.55, P=0.007) of EPQ. There were negative correlation between the score of SDS, SAS and the E dimension (r=-0.23, P=0.01) (r=-0.14, P=0.006) of EPQ. Conclusion The prevalence of depres-sion and anxiety is higher in patients with depressive and anxious symptoms. They are in older age, female gender, poor education, longer duration, lower complement and lower T cell subsets when compared with those patients without depression and anxiety. Patients who have an introverted, instable, nervous temperament are more likely to be depressed and anxious. Psychological assessment intervention and therapy should be carried out as early as possible.

AIM: To analyze the application on frequency domain optical coherence tomography ( OCT ) technology of pathologic myopia optic disc neurosensory retinal thickness changes and its relationship with axis oculi, sex and age, and help for the early diagnosis of pathological myopia and primary open angle glaucoma.
METHODS:Collected 96 eyes of normal eyes ( axis oculi 23-24mm) and 153 eyes of pathologic myopia eyes ( axis oculi 25-27mm 80 eyes, >27mm 73 eyes). We measured the thickness of nerve fiber layer of the optic disc by OCT and analyzed their relationship with axis oculi, sex and age with multiple linear regression analysis.
RESULTS: The observation group showed significant smaller average thickness of peripapillary, superior, inferior, nasal than the control group ( P<0. 05 ); the difference in the temporal quadrant between the groups were no statistically significant differences (P>0. 05); The partial correlation coefficient of peripapillary average thickness of nerve fiber layer and axis oculi was -1. 31, gender was 5. 21, age was -0. 12.
CONCLUSION:The thickness of nerve fiber layer of the optic disc in the pathologic myopia eyes are decreased than normal eyes, axis oculi, sex and age are influenced factors. The pathologic myopia patients should use different index combined with optic nerve fiber layer thickness decreased to help for the diagnosis of early primary open angle glaucoma.

Objective To observe the effects of recombinant human interleukin 11(rhIL-11) on proliferation, migration and invasion of A549 cells, and the mechanism thereof. Methods Final concentrations of 0, 10, 20, 50 and 100μg/L rhIL-11 were added into pulmonary adenocarcinoma A549 cells. The cell proliferation was detected by MTT. The wound-healing, transwell migration assay were used to validate the capability of the migration and invasion of A549 cells. Matrix metallopro-teinases (MMP)-2 and MMP-9 protein expressions were revealed by Western blot assay. Results The proliferation of A549 cells was not significantly changed by rhIL-11. The cell capability to migrate and invade was significantly increased 24 h af-ter treatment with rhIL-11 (P<0.05). The expression levels of MMP-2 and MMP-9 were significantly un-regulated, and which were increased with the increased concentrations of rhIL-11 (P<0.05). Conclusion rhIL-11 can promote the migra-tion and invasion of A549 cells, and the up-regulation of MMP-2 and MMP-9 expression might be one of the mechanisms.

18F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography-computed tomography (18F-FDG PET-CT) is the integration of functional imaging and anatomic information,which is found to be particularly valuable in TNM staging,tumor volume delineating,post-treatment assessment,identification of recurrent and residual nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC).The combination of 18F-FDG PET-CT with other image technologies,different tracer agents,and specific molecular biomarkers can improve the application value of 18F-FDG PET-CT in NPC.

Objective To investigate the value of FDG PET-CT in the outcome assessment and prognostic evaluation for recurrent nasopharyngeal carcinoma (rNPC).Methods From January 2008 to December 2013,92 rNPC patients were treated in our center,who were histologically or radiologically diagnosed and re-staged according to the 2008 clinical staging system for nasopharyngeal carcinoma in China.The numbers of patients in stage Ⅰ,stage Ⅱ,stage Ⅲ,and stage Ⅳ were 8,11,39,and 34,respectively.According to the recurrent T stage (rT),the numbers of patients in rT1,rT2,rT3,and rT4 were 10,11,38,and 33,respectively.Twenty-eight patients had recurrence in the neck lymph nodes.All patients underwent pretreatment FDG PET-CT for the whole body or head/neck,and treated by radiotherapy with or without chemotherapy.The relationship of maximum standard uptake value (SUVmax) and clinical factors with clinical outcomes was analyzed.The Kaplan-Meier method was used to calculate overall survival (OS),disease-free survival (DFS),local recurrence-free survival (LRFS),regional recurrence-free survival (RRFS),and distant metastasis-free survival (DMFS).The log-rank test was used for survival difference analysis and univariate prognostic analysis.The Cox model was used for multivariate prognostic analysis.Results The 3-year OS,DFS,LRFS,RRFS,and DMFS were 33.6％,32.1％,32.8％,31.8％,and 33.7％,respectively.The median SUVmax was 8.35 (2.7-21.5).The SUVmax of 7.0 was taken as the optimal cut-off value for all patients.Patients with SUVmax ≤7.0 had a significantly higher 3-year OS rate than those with SUVm ax ＞7.0 (42.0％ vs.28.3％,P=0.019).The univariate analysis revealed that patient age,SUV and rN were significantly associated with OS (P=0.023,0.019,and 0.002).The multivariate analysis showed that SUVmax and rN were significant influencing factors for OS,DFS,and DMFS (HR=1.68,P=0.045 and HR=2.23,P=0.003;HR=1.67,P=0.042 and HR=2.39,P=0.001;HR=1.77,P=0.025 and HR=2.40,P=0.001).Conclusions SUVmax may be one of the useful prognostic factors for OS,DFS,and DMFS in rNPC patients.

Objective To observe the application effect of Yunnan baiyao powder and alcohol with VitB12 on exosmosis of vincristin. Methods The 40 patients with exosmosis of vincristin were randomly divided into the treatment group(22 cases)and the control group( 18 cases).The treatment group was given the Yunnan baiyao powder and alcohol with VitB12,the control group was given magnesium sulfate for hydropathic compress.The effective rate and red swelling and ulcer of the skin in the two groups were evaluated. Results The effective rate of the treatment group was higher than that of the control group,red swelling and the diameter of the ulcer of the skin on the fifth and seventh day were shorter than the control group. Conclusions The Yunnan baiyao powder and alcohol with VitB12 are effective in treatment of the exosmosis induced by vincristin.
