To study corneal lymphangiogenesis after corneal transplantation, corneal allogenic transplantation models were established in rats. 8 female Wister rats were used as donors, and 16 Sprague Dawley (SD) rats were used as recipients and 2 SD served as controls. Corneal lymphangiogenesis and hemangiogenesis was examined by electron microscopy 1 and 2 weeks after corneal penetrating transplantation, and the expression of lymphatic vessel endothelial receptor (LYVE-1) was examined 1, 3, 7, 14 days after the transplantation respectively. In addition, 19 allograft failed human corneas were examined by 5'-nase-alkaline phosphatase (5'-NA-ALP) double-enzyme-histochemistry staining to detect corneal lymphangiogenesis and hemangiogenesis. By immunohistochemistry for LYVE-1, it was found that blown lymphatics were localized in the stroma 3 days after the corneal transplantation. With electron microscopy, new lymphatic vessels and blood vessels were found 1 and 2 weeks after the corneal transplantation. By 5'-NA-ALP enzyme-histochemistry, corneal hemangiogenesis was found in all allograft failed human corneas and 5 of 19 (26.3 %) cases had developed corneal lymphangiogenesis. It is concluded that corneal lymphangiogenesis is present after corneal transplantation, which may play an important role in allograft rejection.

Chinese Journal of Endocrinology and Metabolism 2014;30(2):129-132
A cross-sectional study of 92 women with polycystic ovary syndrome(PCOS) was performed. The patients were composed of 4 groups according to the Rotterdam criteria and were also divided into 2 groups according to body mass index and divided into 2 groups according to insulin-releasing test.Anthropometric measurements were recorded, and hormonal profile was assessed by measuring FSH,LH,prolactin, and testosterone. The metabolic profile was investigated by measuring glucose and insulin level during oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT),then calculating the homeostasis model assessment (HOMA).Serum lipid levels, including total cholesterol,triglycerides,high-density lipoprotein-cholesterol,and low-density lipoprotein-cholesterol were determirned. The result suggests that the classification according to the revised 2003 Rotterdam consensus on diagnosis does not reflect dyslipidemia in PCOS.Dyslipidemia in hyperinsulinemic group and obesity group were more severe than that in non-hyperinsulinemic group and non-obese group ; this finding needs our attention in early treatment and prevention of late complications of PCOS.

Objective To investigate the effects of low frequency repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) applied to the supplementary motor area (SMA) of children with Tourette's syndrome (TS). Methods Thirty TS subjects less than 16 years old were treated with 1 Hz rTMS to the SMA at 110% of the resting motor threshold (RMT) in 20 daily sessions, receiving 1200 pulses/day.Clinical assessment and physiological measures of the left and right RMT were conducted at different time points during the treatment. ResultsAfter 4 weeks of treatment, statistically significant reductions were observed in assessments with the Yale global tic severity scale (YGTSS) and in terms of clinical global impression (CGI).Symptomatic improvement was correlated with dramatic increases in both right and left RMTs. ConclusionApplication of 1 Hz rTMS to the SMA can improve the clinical symptoms of TS children.

Chinese Journal of Anesthesiology 1994;0(01):-
Objective To examine the hemodynamic changes and oxygen metabolism during off-pump coronary artery bypass grafting (OPCABG) .Methods Twenty patients (18 male, 2 female) aged (60?8)yr, weighing (71?9)kg undergoing OPCABG were studied. The patients were premedicated with diazepam 10 mg PO 2h before operation and morphine 10 mg and scopolamine 0.3 mg im 30 min before operation. Anesthesia was induced with midazolam 0.1-0.2 mg?kg-1, fentanyl 5-10 ug?kg-1 and vecuronium 0.12-0.15 mg?kg-1 and maintained with 0.5%-2% isoflurane inhalation, fentanyl 10-20 ug?kg-1 and intermittent iv boluses of vecuronium and in some patients propofol infusion. Radial artery was cannulated. Swan-Ganz catheter was placed via internal jugular vein into pulmonary artery. Hemodynamic parameters including MAP, HR, cardiac index (CI), stroke volume (SV), MPAP, PCWP, SVR, left ventricle stroke work index (LVSWI) and RVSWI; oxygen metabolism including oxygen delivery (DO2) , oxygen consumption (VO2) and oxygen extraction ratio (ERO2); regional cerebral oxygen saturation (rSCO2) and arterial blood lactate level (ABL) were measured and recorded before skin incision (A), when pericardium was incised before operation on the heart (B), during operation on the heart (C), 10 min after operation on the heart (D) and at the end of surgery (E) . Results During surgical manipulation on the heart (C) MAP, SV and CI decreased while CVP and HR increased, but the decrease in CI and SV was not significant. During manipulation on the heart(C) DO2 decreased whereas ERO2 increased, but there was no significant change in VO2. After manipulation on the heart (D) DO2 and ERO2 returned to the pre-manipulation level. Arterial blood lactate concentration increased at E. Conclusion OPCABG can be performed uneventfully under our general anesthetic regimen. During operation while the beating heart is being manipulated MAP tends to decrease while CVP and HR increase. The changes are of short duration and do not result in any serious consequeaces.

Objective To investigate the changes of expression of Fas-associated proteins named Fas-associated death domain protein(FADD)and death-associated protein(Daxx)in the ischemic penumbra following transient focal cerebra ischemia in rats. Methods ①Adult male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into the sham-operated group and the cerebral ischemia model group.Rats underwent right middle cerebral artery occlusion(MCAO)for 2 h and reperfusion for 1,3,6,12 and 24 h using an intraluminal suture technique. The expression of FADD and Daxx mRNA and protein were measured with methods of immunohistochemistry.Western blot and reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction(RT- PCR)respectively were used in the ischemic penumbra of rats.②Double-label fluorescence confocal laser scanning microscopy(CLSM)was performed to monitor FADD and Daxx intracellular location before and after ischemia. Results RT-PCR,Immunohistochemistry,Western blot experiments indicated that a very low level of FADD mRNA and protein were detected in the cerebral cortex of sham rats. The expression level both of FADD mRNA and protein increased significantly at 3 h after reperfusion, peaked at 12 h,then declined markedly at 24 h in the ischemic penumbra of model rats.RT-PCR,Immunohistochemistry indicated that a relatively high level of Daxx mRNA was detected in the cerebral cotex of sham rats. The expression level of Daxx mRNA increased significantly at 3 h after reperfusion and persisted to 24 h at a high level, whose protein had a same change of expression level in the ischemic penumbra of model rats. Immunofluorescence double-staining laser scanning by CLSM showed that the immunoreactivity of FADD was located in cytoplasm, and the intracellular translocation of the immunoreactivity of Daxx from nucleus to cytoplasm was monitored by measuring the green fluorescence after ischemia. Conclusion The transient upregulation of FADD and the persistant high level of expression of Daxx may contribute to neuronal apoptosis following cerebral ischemia/reperfusion.
