Objective To understand the pathogenic characteristics of intra-abdominal infection after appendecto-my in patients with appendicitis.Methods Clinical data of patients undergoing appendectomy in a hospital from January 2013 to December 2015 were analyzed retrospectively,pathogenic characteristics,treatment,and prognosis of patients with intra-abdominal infection were analyzed.Results A total of 431 patients undergoing appendectomy were investigated,38 (8.82%)developed intra-abdominal infection.36 strains of pathogenic bacteria were isolated, 34 (94.44%)of which were gram-negative bacteria,mainly Escherichiacoli(n=29,80.55%);2 (5.56%)strains were gram-positive bacteria,1 of which was Staphylococcusaureus,and the other was Enterococcusavium.The re-sistance rates of 29 strains of Escherichia coli to commonly used antimicrobial agents (amoxicillin,piperacillin,ti-carcillin,cefuroxime,ceftazidime,and cefalotin)were 72.41%-93.10%,none of strains were found to be resistant to piperacillin/tazobactam,meropenem,imipenem,and amikacin.Conclusion Escherichiacoli is the most common pathogen causing intra-abdominal infection after appendectomy and it has high resistance rates to most commonly used antimicrobial agents,piperacillin/tazobactam,amikacin,and carbapenems are recommended for treating intra-abdominal infection after appendectomy.

[Summary] Osteoporosis in elderly women are commonly accompanied by elevated levels of ferritin. Abnormal iron metabolism plays a key role in the progress of osteoporosis. Research on bone metabolic disorders caused by iron accumulation remains at the exploratory stage, including NF-κB pathway in differentiation of osteoclasts. A review on the relationship between NF-κB pathway and osteoporosis induced by iron accumulation is herewith presented, with a view to provide further ideas for transforming the clinical outcomes.

Objective To investigate the value of the expressions of estrogen receptor(ER)and progesterone receptor(PR)in the cast-off cells from the fluid of latex ductal lavage in the diagnosis and treatment of breast diseases.Methods A total of 58 female out-patients were examined by fiberoptic ductoscopy(FDS).All patients were divided into 6 groups by the complaints,physical examination,ultrasound and FDS:normal group(10 persons without symptoms and abnormalities in any examination),galactostasis group(n=19),latex fill up group(n=11),intraductal papilloma group(n=2),mammary ductal ectasia group(n=7)and contralateral examination after mastectomy for breast cancer group(n=9).A total of 168 ducts were successfully examined by FDS,and the expressions of ER and PR in the cast-off cells were detected among all of the samples.Results The positive rates of ER and PR expression in the cast-off cells from the fluid of latex ductal lavage in benign breast disease groups were much higher than those in normal group(P

Objective To investigate the effects and mechanisms of immunosuppressants on in- duction of apoptosis of peripheral T lymphocytes.Methods T lymphocytes were derived from healthy donors and activated by super antigen SEB.The rest or activated T lymphocytes were incubated with immunosuppressants such as myophenolate mofetil (MMF),cyclosporine A (CsA),FK506,azathio- prine (Aza),sirolimus (SRL),prednisone (Pred),and daclizumab (Dac,anti-CD25mAb),alone or combined,for 3 days.The incidence of apoptosis was determined by the methods of confocal microsco- py,flow cytometer,DNA-ladder fragmentation electrophoresis,and reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) gene amplification profiles.The quantitive assay of IL-2 and Fas in the cul- ture medium was also performed using the enzyme linked immunosorbent assay kit.Results Apoptosis in rest T lymphocytes was just induced by Pred among various immunosuppressants.MMF,Aza,and Pred promoted apoptosis in activated T lymphocytes (P＜0.05,P＜0.01),but it was blocked by CsA,FK506,SRL,and Dac (P＜0.01).After adding two or three kinds of immunosuppressants, the incidence of apoptosis in activated T lymphocytes was apparently lower than in control group (P＜0.01).The expression of Fas and IL-2 by activated T lymphocytes was inhibited by FK506 and CsA (P＜0.05).Conclusion MMF,Aza,and Pred may induce apoptosis of activated T lymphocytes via the signal pathway of Fas/Fasl.CsA and FK506 could inhibit the apoptosis of activated T lymphocytes by blocking the production of IL-2.Also,SRL and Dac can block the apoptosis of activated T lympho- cyte by interfering with the effect of IL-2 on T lymphocytes activation process.

Objective To analyze the clinical data of 112 patients with adult-measles in the Af- filiated Shanghai Sixth People's Hospital and Third People's Hospital of Shanghai Jiaotong University from January to June in 2005,and to evaluate the epidemiologieal and clinical characteristics of adult- measles.Methods To retrospectively analyze the clinical data of 112 patients with adult-measles. Results Totally,112 measles patients were involved in this study,with male 63 and female 49 re- spectively.The gender rate was 1.3:1,average age about 32 years and the proportion of non-resi- dents was 40.18%.The peak of the incidence of disease emerged in April and May,and the positive rate of measle virus IgM antibody in serum was 96.43%.There were 97 patients(86.61%)who had the fever that beyond 39℃and 36 patients(32.14%)who had measle caused viral hepatitis.Conclu- sions There is a trend that the ages of patients that suffered from measle were postponed and the in cidences of disease are increased year by year,which maybe related to the nonstandard inoculation of measle vaccine,or the decrease of IgM antibody levels and so on.Meanwhile,serious toxemie symp- toms and liver damage can be observed.

Objective:To evaluate the osteogenic activities of Bio-oss after combining with fibrin glue in reconstruction of canine mandibular defects.Methods:The second and fourth premolar teeth and the second molar teeth were extracted bilaterally, in 9 hibrid canines,resulting in 6 bone defects(1 cm?1 cm)in each canine.Bio-oss,Bio-oss+FG and FG were implanted into the bone defects of the second,fourth premolar teeth and the second molar teeth,respectively.Canines were executed in group of 3 after 4,8,and 12 weeks to observe the healing of soft tissues.The bone density was assessed by X-ray,the property of Bio-oss were observed via gross specimen,and the morphology of the newly-formed bone was observed by tissue sections.The proportion of newly-formed bone was obtained by computer image analysis(SAS software,analysis of variance).Results:StageⅠhealing of soft tissues was achieved in all animals.The bone densities were not significantly different between Bio-oss+FG and Bio-oss groups.The bone in FG group had transparent area.We also found that the bone in Bio-oss+FG group was closely combined and there were sccatered Bio-oss dusts in the soft tissues of the Bio-oss group.The newly-formed bone in the FG group was only found in the border between the defects and FG.The proportion of newly-formed bone was less in the Bio-oss+ FG group than in the Bio-oss group at 4,8,and 12 weeks after extraction(P

OBJECTIVETo investigate the association of A260G and A386G polymorphisms of the DAZL gene with male infertility caused by oligozoospermia or azoospermia.

METHODSWe searched the PubMed, Science Direct, Wiley Online Library, CNKI, VIP, and CDDB databases up to November 30, 2013 for case-control studies evaluating the relationship of SNP260 and SNP386 polymorphisms of the DAZL gene with male infertility, and meanwhile conducted manual sourcing of the references in the identified studies and relevant articles. Two reviewers independently screened the title, abstract and keywords of each article retrieved. The StataSE12. 0 software was used for meta-analysis and other statistical analyses.

RESULTSTotally, 13 case-control studies were included (10 about A260G and 11 about A386G), involving 2 715 infertile patients (2 500 with oligozoospermia or azoospermia) and 1 835 normozoospermic men. DAZL A260G showed no statistical significance in the allele, dominant, recessive, co-dominant, or super-dominant gene model (P >0. 05). DAZL A386G exhibited a strong correlation with oligozoospermia or azoospermia in Asians in the allele gene model (OR = 0. 15, 95% CI 0.07 -0.34, P <0.05), dominant gene model (OR =0. 16, 95% CI 0.07 - 0. 35, P <0.05), co-dominant gene model (AA/AG) (OR = 0. 15, 95% CI 0. 06 - 0. 33, P < 0. 05), and super-dominant gene model (OR = 0. 15 (95% CI 0.06 - 0.33, P <0.05) , and so did it in Chinese in the four gene models ( OR = 0. 11, 95% CI 0.04 - 0. 28, P <0.05; OR =0. 11, 95% CI 0.04 - 0.28, P<0.05; OR = 0.09, 95% CI 0.03 - 0.26, P<0.05; OR = 0.09, 95% CI 0.03 - 0.26, P< 0.05).

CONCLUSIONOur study manifested that the DAZL polymorphism A386G, but not A260G, was correlated with reduced sper- matogenesis or sperm count specifically in Chinese males. More high-quality trials are required for a deeper insight into the exact relationship of DAZL A260G and A386G polymorphisms with oligozoospermia- or azoospermia-induced male infertility.

Objective To analyze the clinical and pathological characteristics of breast carcinoma in elderly female patients and to offer the standard clinical diagnosis and treatment for breast carcinoma.Methods A total of 178 patients admitted to Breast Center of Beijing Hospital from January to December 2011 were enrolled in this retrospective study.Patients were divided into non-elderly group and elderly group.Clinical features,imaging diagnosis,operation patterns and pathological diagnosis were recorded.The data were analyzed by using SAS 9.1 software.Results The patients diagnosed as breast carcinomas in BI-RAD 4-5 categories by mammography were much more in the elderly group than in the non-elderly group (82.1％ vs.63.0％,P＜0.05).The diagnostic accuracy rates of ultrasonography and mammography in the elderly group were comparable(P＞ 0.05),while in the non-elderly group,the diagnostic accuracy rate of ultrasonography was higher than that of mammography (P＜0.05).The incidence of concurrent diseases was higher in the elderly group than in the non-elderly group (P＜0.05).The patients undergoing breast resection operation were much more in the elderly group than in the non-elderly group (14 cases vs.3 cases,P＜0.05).The pathological diagnosis analysis showed that there were no significant differences in the number of ER-positive cells and PR-positive cells,tumor size,histological grade,pathological stage between the two groups (all P＞0.05).The incidence of lymph node metastasis was lower in the elderly group than in the non-elderly group (P＜0.05).The percentage of Ki-67 positive cells was lower in the elderly group than in the non-elderly group (P＜0.05).The percentage of CerbB-2 strongly positive (+++) cells was lower in the elderly group than in the non-elderly group (5.1 ％ vs.24％,P＜0.05).The invasive ductal carcinoma was the major histological type of breast cancer in both two groups,but there were more mixed type and other type carcinomas in the elderly group than in the non-elderly group (P＜0.05).Conclusions Ultrasonograpy and mammography have better sensitivity for breast cancer in elderly female patients.The surgical protocols are often influenced because more concurrent diseases have occurred in the elderly.There are significant differences in some prognostic factors between the two groups,which may imply a better prognosis in elderly patients.
