Objective To study the changes of leptin and insulin-like growth factor-Ⅰ (IGF-Ⅰ) in adoles-cents with anorexia nervosa(AN) before and after three months of therapy. Methods The plasma levels of leptin and IGF-Ⅰ were measured in 11 adolescents with AN before and after three months of therapy and 11 normal ado-lescents of the same age,and their height,weight were examined and their body mass index(BMI) was calculated,and the results were compared before and after therapy, and were compared with those from age-matched normal adolescents respectively. Results (1)The plasma levels of leptin and IGF-Ⅰ , as well as the BMI in the AN patients after three months of therapy were significantly higher, than those before the therapy, and both were significantlylower than those in the controls. (2)Significant correlations between the plasma leptin levels and IGF-Ⅰ and BMI were detected in the AN patients both before and after the therapy, as well as in the controls. (3)Significant correla-tions between the plasma leptin levels and IGF-Ⅰ were detected in the AN patients both before and after the thera-py, as well as in the controls. Conclusion The plasma levels of leptin and IGF-Ⅰ resulted in significant changes, and these changes were consistent with body fat content in adolescents with AN.

Objective To investigate the changes of plasma levels of homocysteine (Hcy) and monocyte chemoattract protein 1 (MCP 1) in coronary artery disease (CAD) patients and to analyze the effect of Hcy on the expression of MCP 1. Methods The CAD diagnosis of all the studied subjects was confirmed by coronary angiography. A total of 70 patients with CAD and 50 control subjects were recruited in the study. Objective To investigate the prevalence,radiological features and the association between HRCT changes and different diseases or clinical features in interstitial lung disease(ILD)caused by diffuse connective tissue diseases(CTD).Methods Retrospective analysis was performed based on the medical records of 412 in-patients with the diagnosis of diffuse connective tissue diseases from June 2003 to June 2005 in our hospital.268 cases were SLE,83 cases were SS,40 cases were DM/PM,21 cases were SSe.All patients had chest X-ray and the suspected cases had HRCT exam.The distribution of ILD among different diffuse CTD.the appearance between X-ray and HRCT appearances were compared.The correlation among HRCT appearance,different diseases and clinical features was studied.Results①In the 412 cases of CTD,ILD de- tected by HRCT was 9.7%(40 case in total),3,9% by X-ray.Among the 40 cases,DM/PM had the highest rate of ILD(25%),23.8% in SS,9.6% in SS and 6.3% in SLE.②The consensus rate between HRCT and X-ray was 40%.The rate of mis-diagnosis of ILD was 60% by X-ray.③The changes of interstitial involvement de- tected by HRCT were:ground glass change(41.0%),consolidation(32.8%),reticular change(16.4%)and hon- eycomb change(9.8%).The concomitant presence of two of the above changes were very common.④More level respiratory symptoms such as cough,panting,chest distress and chest pain and high level of complement were observed in patients with ground glass and consolidation changes,while high CRP level was seen in patients with consolidation and honeycomb changes(P

Objective To investigate strain and strain rate of right ventricular(RV)based on twodimensional image by velocity vector imaging in normal subjects.Methods Thirty-two healthy adults were rolled in this study.Echocardiographic images in 4 chamber view were analyzed by conventional manual tracing for volumes and ejection fractions,which were also measured by velocity vector imaging.Myocardial velocity,strain rate,and strain were determined at the basal,mid,and apical segments of the RV free wall and ventricular septum by velocity vector imaging.Results RV ejection fractions obtained with manual tracing correlated strongly with the same indexes obtained by velocity vector imaging method in all subjects(r=0.91,P＜0.01).The strain and strain rate value of middle segment and basal segment in RV free wall were higher than those of apical segment.There were same trend in ventricular septal.The strain and strain rate of middle segment and basal segment in RV free wall were higher than those of homologous segments in ventricular septal,but the indexes of apical segment in free wail and septal had no difference.The strain and strain rate in RV were not correlated with age.Conclusions Velocity vector imaging could accurately and quantitatively assess the strain and strain rate of RV.
