Objective To study the correlation of expression of N-myc downstream regulated gene 1(NDRG1) with invasion of breast invasive duct carcinoma and lymph node metastasis. Methods A total of 71 specimens including 26 case of primary breast invasive duct carcinoma with lymphnode metastasis,45 case of nonmetastasis breast invasive duct carcinoma were observed.NDRG1 was detected by immunohistochemistry in formalin-fixed and paraffin-embedded sections. At the same time, the correlations of NDRG1 with E-cad,MMP2,MMP9,and TIMP2 were investigated. Results The expression of NDRG1 in breast cancer with metastasis of lymph nodes(9/26) was lower than that of non-metastasis of lymph nodes(32/45)(P

Objective:To investigate the influence of sinter temperature alteration on the crystalline phase and microstructure of lithium disilicate glass-ceramic.Methods:Samples of lithium disilicate glass-ceramic were heated using the standard two stage heating-schedule at different final temperatures. All samples were observed by X-ray diffractometer (XRD),field emission scanning electron microscope(FESEM) and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy(FE-SEM-EDS) for the evaluation of crystalline phase and microstructural evolution. Results:Crystalline phase and microstructure of ceramic samples showed significant changes during processing at different temperatures, especially at 800 ℃.Samples sintered at 840 ℃ displayed higher crystallinity(P<0.05) and denser microstructure. Conclusion:Temperature control is important in ceramic sintering.800 ℃ and 840 ℃ are the critical temperature points in the crystalline phase and microstructural evolution of lithium disilicate glass-ceramic.

Objective To study the relationship between the operative programs and curative effects in treating non-reflex pubovesical muscle neurogenic bladder by transurethral division of internal sphincter. Methods Bilateral or one laternal division of internal sphincter were performed separately,followed-up for 3 months to 5 years in postoperation, and analysed data obtained .Results Bilateral division had a much higher improving rate(92%) than that of one laternal(60%)(P

Objective To investigate the awareness of HIV/AIDS and risk behaviors among migrant workers at construction sites in Beijing. Methods The methods of cluster sampling was employed,a questionnaire survey was administered among 1000 migrant workers from two construction sites and a face-to-face interview with the informed consent was conducted in a limited scope. Results There was considerable disparity in the awareness of the routes of AIDS transmission;66.8% of the migrant workers were aware that the condom could reduce the risk of infection, but 51% of them had never used it.Only 2.3% of the migrant workers had sexual intercourse with female sex workers. Conclusion Although the migrant workers under survey have some basic knowledge on HIV/AIDS,their essential understanding was mostly vague, and financial condition have restricted to a great extent their risk behaviors.

Purpose:To evaluate the curative effects and side effects of 3-dimensional conformal radiotherapy (3DCRT) in the treatment of liver carcinoma.Methods:56 patients with liver carcinoma (Forty three patients were primary hepatic carcinoma and 13 liver metastatic tumors) with 62 lesions were treated with 3DCRT for 30~45 Gy/5~10 f/1~2 weeks with fractionated doses ranging from 4Gy to 8Gy.Results:In the 1~3 months after 3DCRT the results examined by CT or MRI showed that the 62 lesions(56 patients) had CR 24% (15/62),PR 50%(31/62),NC 16% (10/62) and PD 10% (6/62).The overall response rate (CR+PR) was 74%.Conclusions:3DCRT is an effective and safe treatment for hepatic malignant tumor and it can be tolerated by most of the patients. The immediate response of tumor is encouraging. The survival rate and late complications remain to be observed.

Objective: Surfactant protein A (SP-A) is protein that appears to play an important role in mammalian first-line host defense. The objective of this study was to immunolocalize SP-A in human sinonasal tissue. Method:Eleven cases of allergic rhinitis, fifteen cases of polyp and seven cases of normal middle turbinate were studied with immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence method to detect the expression of SP-A. Result:The expression of SP-A in allergic rhinitis and polyp were dramatically higher than that in controls(P<0.05), and there was no remarkable difference in the expression of SP-A between allergic rhinitis and polyp(P>0.05). The result demonstrated that SP-A was positivly correlated with eosinophils within the basement membrane of epitheli-um(R=0.81,0.55). In the result of immunofluorescence, there was significantly higher expression SP-A in nasal mucosa of allergic rhinitis and nasal polyp than that in control group(P<0.05). Conclusion:SP-A is likely to play key roles in the inflammatory reaction process of allergic rhinitis and polyp. Its secretion in the upper airway indicates that future studies may allow manipulation of this protein and development of novel treatments for sinonasal pathology.

Objective To investigate the effect of galectin-3 (Gal-3) on the pathogenesis of primary biliary cirrhosis (PBC).Methods The clinic data of 72 PBC patients at different stages were analyzed and the serum levels of Gal-3 were detected in 72 PBC patients and 20 controls by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA).Independent t-test,variance analysis,LSD-t and Pearson correlation analysis were adopted for data analysis. Results The serum Gal-3 levels were significantly higher in PBC patients than those of healthy controls [(855±634) pg/ml,(463±446) pg/ml,P<0.05].With the progression of disease, the levels of Gal-3,platelets,hemoglobin,albumin,IgM and complement C3 gradually declined, but the level of total bilirubin gradually elevated(P<0.05).There was positive correlation between Gal-3 and immunoglobin IgM,complement C3 levels (r=0.330,P=0.005; r=0.357,P=0.002).There was negative correlation between Gal-3 and total bilirubin levels (r=0.350,P=0.003).Conclusion The Gal-3 can participate in the immune-mediated inflammation of PBC and the formation of liver fibrosis. The levels of Gal-3,platelet count, hemoglobin, albumin,IgM,complement C3 and total bilirubin could be regarded as laboratory parameters for the evaluation of the disease severity and prognosis.

Objective To investigate the release and intracellular localization of high mobility group box chromosomal protein 1(HMGBl)in the peripheral blood monocytes of rheumatoid arthritis(RA) patients and the inhibitive effect of thaiidomide. Methods 19 RA patients and 20 healthy controls were included in the study.Monocytes were separated from peripheral blood with Ficoll density gradient centrifugation.Monocytes were treated with 100 ng/ml tumor necrosis factor α(TNFa)or 100 ng/ml TNFα plus 40 μg/ml thalidomide and grown in an incubator at 37℃ with 5%CO,for 24 hours. The cuIture supernatants of the monocytes were collected.HMGB1 level in the culture medium was detected with Western blot.In addition, the intraceUular localization of HMGB1 in the fflonocytes was investigated with immunocytochemical analysis. Results Without stimulation. the release of HMGBl protein was significantly increased in the culture supernatants of peripheral blood monocytes from RA patients as compared with that from healthy controls(P<0.05).TNFα(100 ng/ml)did not further increase the release of HMGBl in the monocytes from the patients with RA.Thalidomide(40 μg/ml)could inhibit the release of HMGB1 in the monocytes from RA patients stimulated with TNFα(P<0.05).In the monocytes from RA patients,HMGBl was mainly localized in the nucleus.Treatment with TNFOL(100 ng/ml)for 24 hour resulted in a cytoplasmic translocation of HMGB1,which was inhibited significantly by thalidomide. Conclusion TNFα induces the release and cytoplasmic translocation of HMGBI in the peTipheral blood monocytes of RA patients and thalidomide inhibits the release and translocation of HMGB1.
