Chinese Journal of Health Policy 2014;(11):64-70
Traditional Chinese Medicine ( TCM) is an important part of primary health care services with the advantages of simplicity, convenience, low costs, and effective examinations. Under the influence of Western Medi-cine, improving the enterprise advantages of TCM becomes an imminent issue to resolve. With the perspective of be-havioral and social sciences, the paper systematically reviews the factors which impact the consumer acceptance of TCM in primary healthcare services and constructs the corresponding structural equation model based on the social learning theory. Meanwhile, AMOS17. 0 and SPSS were used to process empirical data. The paper presents the fol-lowing important conclusions: service encounter quality, emotional well-being and the influence degree are signifi-cantly correlated with the consumer acceptance of TCM;there is no significant relationship between individual-cogni-tion and consumer acceptance of TCM;consumer trust is not related to consumer acceptance of TCM;TCM technolo-gy acceptance is the major source of consumer acceptance of TCM. Finally, this paper introduces the policy recom-mendations of improving and promoting the service quality of TCM.

6.Progress of berberine for treatment of type 2 diabetes.
China Journal of Chinese Materia Medica 2014;39(8):1374-1378
Berberine is the major component of Coptidis Rhizoma and it has been used as anti-infection, anti-inflammation drug for gastrointestinal diseases. In recent years, evidence showed that it could regulate glucose and lipid metabolism. Moreover, its activity had been tested by clinical trials and animal researches. The mechanisms of berberine in diabetes include: improving the function of beta-cell; prompting insulin secretion and islets regeneration, lowing lipid level, regulating glucose and lipid metabolic by influence transcriptional factors expression such as PPARgamma, C/EBPalpha, SREBP-1c, LXR, having the activities of anti-oxidation and inhibiting reductase to repress oxidative stress state and regulate metabolic signal pathway. Although numbers of data supported that berberine could improving insulin resistance by clinical trials and animal studies, the large scale, multicenter clinical trials are needed to evaluate the effects of berberine for diabetes and its complications in the time of evidence-based medicine.

Chinese Herbal Medicines 2010;02(3):170-179
One important purpose to investigate medicinal plants is to understand genes and enzymes that govern the biological metabolic process to produce bioactive compounds.Genome wide high throughput technologies such as genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics and metabolomics can help reach that goal.Such technologies can produce a vast amount of data which desperately need bioinformatics and systems biology to process, manage, distribute and understand these data.By dealing with theomicsdata, bioinformatics and systems biology can also help improve the quality of traditional medicinal materials, develop new approaches for the classification and authentication of medicinal plants, identify new active compounds, and cultivate medicinal plant species that tolerate harsh environmental conditions. In this review, the application of bioinformatics and systems biology in medicinal plants is briefly introduced.

International Journal of Biomedical Engineering 2015;(3):179-182
Posterior circulation ischemia (PCI) is a common disease and frequent encountered disease in clinical practice. It refers to the transient ischemic attack and the cerebral infarction in vertebral-basilar artery system. Vertebral aretery atherosclerosis is one of the common causes of PCI. Imaging examinations for PCI include transcranial Doppler (TCD), digital subtraction angiography (DSA), computerized tomographic angiography (CTA), magnetic resonance angiography (MRA), color Doppler ultrasound (CDU) and so on. TCD can serve as initial screening tool in diagnosis of PCI. DSA is still thegold standardin diagnosis of vertebral-basilar abnormalities, although the operation injury and photography drugs poisonousness have not been resolved. CTA has almost the same defects as DSA, while MRA is noninvasive. Some researches have reposed that MRA can exaggerate the vertebral artery depression level. The inner diameter and hemodynamics of the vertebral artery can be accurately measured by CDU, and it can be seen as a noninvasive examination for PCI,which is direct, accurate, convenient and repeatable. It can provide positive evidence for diagnosis and treatment of PCI. This article reviews the progess of CDU in diagnosis of vertebral aretery atherosclerosis.

BACKGROUND:Previous studies on posterior cervical single door and double door laminoplasty for repair of multilevel cervical myelopathy mainly focus onneurological function and clinical parameters and lack of certain comprehensiveness.
OBJECTIVE:To explore the effects of posterior cervical single door and double door laminoplasty for repair of multilevel cervical myelopathy.
METHODS:We selected 120 patients with multilevel cervical myelopathy and randomly divided into single door group (n=60) and double door group (n=60). The single door group underwent single door laminoplasty. The double door group underwent double door laminoplasty. The blood loss, length of stay, complication rate, neurological function improvement, motion range of cervical vertebrae and imaging changes were compared between the two groups.
RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:(1) Blood loss was significantly less, length of stay was significantly shorter, and the incidence of axial symptom was significantly reduced in the double door group than in the single door group (alP< 0.05). (2) No significant difference in complication rate such as side leakage of cerebrospinal fluid, hematoma, infection and paralysis was detected between the two groups (P> 0.05). The incidence of axial symptoms was significantly less in the double door group than in the single door group (P< 0.05). (3) There were no significant differences in preoperative Japanese Orthopaedic Association scores, postoperative Japanese Orthopaedic Association scores, and improvement in neurological function between the two groups (P> 0.05). Postoperative Japanese Orthopaedic Association scores were significantly increased as compared with that preoperatively in both groups (P<0.05). (4) No significant difference in motion range of cervical vertebrae, inflexion, extension angle and sagittal diameter of spinal canal was detectable between the two groups (P> 0.05). Motion range of cervical vertebrae, extension angle, and inflexion angle were smaler after treatment compared with that preoperatively in both groups (P< 0.05). The increased degree of sagittal diameter of spinal canal was smaler, and the motion range of cervical vertebrae kept better in the double door group than in the single door group. (5) These results indicate that the effect of double door laminoplasty for repair of multilevel cervical myelopathy was significant. The double door laminoplasty can shorten the length of stay, reduce blood loss, axial symptoms, and loss rate of motion range of the cervical vertebrae. In the clinic, treatment can be carried out according to different indications.
