1.PREDICATING THE “WITS” APPRAISAL FROM THE ANB ANGLE

Objective In order to explore the relationship between the “Wits" appraisal and the ANB angle, and to see how accurately one can predict the “Wits”. Methods Given the ANB, lateral cephalometric radiographs were taken on 50 boys and 50 girls between the ages of 11~13. Results Each subject had no treatment either a Class Ⅰ or Class Ⅱ malocclusion, a good growth pattern. Group Ⅰ , 13 subjects of 100 had ANB≤1.5°, and negative “Wits” appraisal; group Ⅱ , 61 subjects had 5.8°>ANB>1.5°, and “Wits” appraisal either positive or negative; group Ⅲ , 26 subjects had ANB angle≥5.8°, and positive “Wits” appraisal. Statistically analysis showed that there was no sig nificant difference in sex (P>0.05); there was significant correlation between the ANB and “Wits” values in the group Ⅱ and group Ⅲ (P <0. 05); there was statistical significance in regression analysis in the group Ⅰ and group Ⅱ (P <0. 05). We could predict the “Wits” with 21% accuracy in group Ⅱ. Conclusion The results indicate that these figures are statistically significant but clinically irrelevant.
2.Long-term care needs and its influencing factors among elderly people living in rural areas of Beijing

Objective To understand current status and influencing factors of long-term care for elderly people who lived in rural areas of Beijing.Methods A total of 1022 elderly people (age>60 years old) were enrolled in this cross-sectional study during December,2012 and January,2013.Demographic information,health status and needs of and intent to long-term care were learned through a questionaire survey.Chi-square test and muhiple non-conditional logistic regression analysis were used to identify the factors that were related to the respondents' selection.Results Nearly 6.6% (61/1016) participants showed needs for long-term care.82.3% (841/1013) respondents preferred household-based long-term care,while 7.53% (77/1013) preferred community-based long-term care.In single factor analysis,education level,occupation,household income,living conditions,number of children living together,medical insurance,pension insurance,chronic diseases and self-report hearing ability,taste and touch were related with longterm care needs (x2values were 33.03,136.17,99.32,88.83,58.07,147.71,108.11,9.85,33.78,30.45 and 22.22,respectively; all P<0.05).Multivariate analysis showed that occupation,income per capita,spouses living conditions,new corporative medical systems and self-report visual status were correlated with household-based long-term care (odds ratio (OR) were 2.48 (95% confidence interval (CI) 1.21-5.10),0.82(0.71-0.95),1.64 (1.08-2.49),4.78 (2.93-7.82) and 0.72 (0.59-0.89),respectively).Conclusion Householdbased long-term care and health management system may be needed and chosen by the elderly living in rural areas of Beijing.
3.The effect of lead exposure during early stage of life on expression of metabotropic glutamate receptor subtype 5

Objective The effect of lead exposure on children is consistently associated with intellectual and other neurologic deficits.However the exact mechanism by which Pb~(2+) exerts toxic effects on developmental central nervous system remains unknown.Our group has found by gene-chip test that the expression of metabotropic glutamate receptor subtype 5 (mGluR5) mRNA was changed by lead exposure.The present study aimed to examine the effects of different level of lead exposure on the expression of mCluR5 in gestation and lactation.Methods Sprague-Dawley rats were exposed to lead acetate during gestation and lactation.Three concentrations of 0.05%,0.2%,and 0.5% lead acetate were applied and considered as low,middle and high exposure group respectively.The Pb levels of blood and hippocampus of pups were analyzed at weaning to evaluate the actual lead content at the end of the exposure.The impact of lead exposure on the expression of mGluR5 mRNA and protein in hippocampal tissue of pups was investigated by quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and Western blot.The potential role of the expression of mGluR5 mRNA and protein in lead neurotoxicity were discussed.Results The levels of lead in blood and hippocampus from lead-exposed rats were significantly higher than those in the controls and positively related to the degree of lead exposure.The results of real-time PCR and Western blot showed that exposure to lead acetate decreased the expression of mCluR5 mRNA and protein with a dose-dependent manner.Conclusions Hippocampal mGluR5 might be involved in lead-induced neurotoxicity.
4.Application of health management programme among elderly adults living in rural areas of Beijing

Objective To learn current status of health management services in the elderly individuals living in rural areas of Beijing,so as to provide evidence for healthcare improvement.Methods The elderly residents aged 60 or above from several rural districts of Beijing were selected by using multistage random sampling method in January 2013.The health management programme those participants obtained and their satisfactory scale were evaluated.Results A total of 719 of 1 023 (71.3%) individuals had health check-up over the past years.Only 4 subjects (0.4%) obtained mental health management,and 35 (4.9%) finished follow-up studies for chronic diseases.The percent of the elderly who received physical examination,profiles of medical record,health education,medical consultation,health evaluation,cancer screening or vaccination showed statistically significant difference of regional distribution (x2 values were 15.7,39.4,30.5,25.2,24.1,18.4 and 19.3,respectively; all P<0.05).Sites for health check-up,profiles of medical record and health education were also found to have statistically significant regional distribution difference (all P<0.05).In ordinal logistic regression analysis,age,occupation,health insurance,self health assessment and health medical affected satisfaction of the respondents with health management.Conclusions Our investigation shows a gap between current health management programme and national standard requirement for equal public health services,and the elderly's satisfaction with health management needs to be improved.
5.Utilization of 3D printing technology in hepatopancreatobiliary surgery

The technology of three-dimensional(3D)printing emerged in the late 1970s and has since undergone considerable development to find numerous applications in mechanical engineering,industrial design,and biomedicine.In biomedical science,several studies have initially found that 3D printing technology can play an important role in the treatment of diseases in hepatopancreatobiliary surgery.For example,3D printing technology has been applied to create detailed anatomical models of disease organs for preoperative personalized surgical strategies,surgical simulation,intraoperative navigation,medical training,and patient education.Moreover,cancer models have been created using 3D printing technology for the research and selection of chemotherapy drugs.With the aim to clarify the development and application of 3D printing technology in hepatopancreatobiliary surgery,we introduce seven common types of 3D printing technology and review the status of research and application of 3D printing technology in the field of hepatopancreatobiliary surgery.
6.The application value of respiratory intervention training in feeding of preterm infants

Objective:To investigate the clinical effect of respiratory intervention training in feeding of preterm infants, so as to provide reference for feeding interventions in preterm infants.Methods:From March 2021 to October 2021, the 80 preterm infants hospitalized in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit of Xuzhou Central Hospital were selected and divided into intervention group (40 cases) and control group (40 cases) according to the random table method in a prospective study. The common nursing was given in the control group, the respiratory intervention training was given on this basis in the intervention group, once a day for two weeks. The intervention effect was evaluated by the time of indwelling gastric tube, hospital stay, feeding reaction, feeding related complications and satisfaction rate of catch-up growth. The oral feeding ability of preterm infants was evaluated by the non-nutritive sucking (NNS) score and preterm infants oral feeding readiness assessment scale (PIOFRAS) score.Results:The time of indwelling gastric tube and hospital stay was (15.3 ± 8.7), (28.9 ± 9.8) d in the intervention group and (21.7 ± 9.8), (34.6 ± 12.2) d in the control group, the difference was significant ( t=3.12, 2.32, both P<0.05). After intervention, the differences of respiratory number, heart rate and pulse oxygen saturation were (6.5 ± 1.3) beats/min, (11.2 ± 1.5) beats/min, 0.048 ± 0.015 in the intervention group and (11.2 ± 1.2) beats/min, (16.5 ± 1.3) beats/min, 0.082 ± 0.018 in the control group, the differences were significant ( t=16.39, 16.40, 9.35, all P<0.05). The incidence of feeding-related complications was 25.0% (10/40) in the intervention group and 55.0% (22/40) in the control group, the difference was significant ( χ2=7.50, P<0.05). The satisfaction rate of catch-up growth was 77.5%(31/40) in the intervention group and 40.0%(16/40) in the control group, the difference was significant ( χ2=12.78, P<0.05). The scores of NNS and PIOFRAS at 7 d, 10 d and 14 d after intervention were (13.73 ± 2.24), (29.98 ± 6.67), (49.08 ± 16.37) points and (15.28 ± 1.41), (25.08 ± 3.10), (31.03 ± 3.00) points in the intervention group and (10.30 ± 2.18), (15.68 ± 2.42), (28.60 ± 3.61) points and (12.60 ± 1.22), (17.15 ± 1.51), (23.75 ± 3.87) points in the control group, the differences were significant ( t values were -14.53--6.94, all P<0.05). Conclusions:The respiratory intervention training can effectively shorten the transition time from tube feeding to complete oral feeding in preterm infants, reduce feeding reaction and the incidence of feeding-related complications, and promote the coordination of feeding behavior, so as to improve oral feeding ability and catch-up growth of preterm infants.
7.Study on the application of cone-beam CT in root canal morphology of first deciduous molars

Objective:
To analyze the number, distribution of root canals in children's first deciduous teeth through a retrospective study of cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT).
Methods:
A total of 185 first deciduous molars were selected from 91 children aged 4 to 8 years old in the Stomatology Department of Mianyang Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine. The number, distribution of root canals were analyzed.
Results :
All 46 maxillary first deciduous molars had three roots; 139 mandibular first deciduous molars had two roots (77.70%) and three roots (22.30%). The root canals of all maxillary first deciduous molars are type Ⅰ, while the main root canal type of mandibular first deciduous molars is type Ⅳ. Of 51 children with bilateral mandibular first deciduous molars, 48 (94.12%) had symmetrical root and canal distributions.
Conclusion
The first deciduous molars usually have 2 to 3 roots. Root canals are mainly type I and IV. The distribution of root canals is symmetrical.
