The interaction between the immune system and nervous sytem affcts nervous function.There is a close relationship between the episode of epilepsy and immunity,the molecular basis of which is the network of cytokines.In order to quest new methods of contolling epilepsy by regulating the network of cytokines,the roles of several cytokines in the ocurrence and onset of epilepsy were reviewed in this article.

Objective To analyze the clinical profiles of lupus mesenteric vasculitis (LMV).Methods Thirty-six SLE patients diagnosed with LMV and 72 SLE patients (1:2) without LMV at West China Hospital between October 2009 and January 2012 were enrolled.The imaging,clinical manifestation,laboratory examinations data were analyzed retrospectively.Quantitative differences were analyzed by the Student's t and Z tests and qualitative data were compared with Chi-square.P value less than 0.05 was considered as statistically significant.Results ① The prevalence of LMV in patients with SLE was 1.2％(36/3 051),while 47％(17/36) as the initial symptom of SLE.Thirty-six LMV patients were all female.The prevalence of abdominal pain was 78％(28/36),nausea or vomitting was 58％(21/36),abdominal distension was 50％(18/36),diarrhea was 47.2％ (17/36),intestinal perforation was 3％ (1/36) and incomplete obstruction was 8％ (3/36).Enhanced CT scan showed 81％(25/31) patients suffered from intestinal dilation and (or) mesenteric edema;SLEDAI (17±5),C3 (0.44±0.25) g/L,C4 (0.10±0.09) g/L,Z value on above items were 4.30,-3.85 and-2.94 respectively compared to SLE patients without LMV,and all P＜0.05,the differemces were significant.In addition,Also,the proportion of ANA and anti-ENA antibody showed no significant difference.68.6％(13/36) patients were also diagnosed with lupus nephritis;61％(22/36) patients were treated with methylprednisolone more than 200 mg/d resulting in relief of symptom.Conclusion Female patients with SLE may be more likely to suffer from LMV;Enhanced abdominal CT scan is still essential to the diagnosis of LMV.LMV is correlated with urinary system malfunction.LMV always occurs in active lupus with low C3 and C4 level.More than half patients should be treated with corticosteroid and cyclophosphamide pulse therapy.

A number of studies have shown that migraine, particularly migraine with aura, has certain correlation with stroke.However, their related potential mechanism remains unclear. Migraine may be a cause and/or a risk factor for stroke. Stroke may cause the occurrence of migraine, and it may also be a disease with two clinical manifestations.

Objective To evaluate the clinical outcome of stent placement in the superior vena cava (SVC) syndrome. Methods Twelve patients with stenosis of the superior vena cava and/or its main tributaries underwent placement of a self-expanding endovascular Wallstents (11 men,1 woman,mean age 51 years). Results Until death or completion of the study,the SVC syndrome was successfully controlled in 92% of the cases (11/12). There were no early procedure-related complications such as early occlusion,or migration of the stent. The recurrence rate was 16.7%. Conclusion Percutaneous venous stent placement in the superior vena cava is a relatively safe and simple procedure. In majority of cases,the symptoms of the SVC syndrome are relieved immediately and completely. Complications are rare.

Objective To investigate the effect of persistent ST-segment elevation after successful direct percutanous coronary intervention (PCI) on the late phase of left ventricular (LV) systolic function in acute anterior wall myocardial infarction.Methods Serial electrocardiograms were record before PCI and 1 hour after reperfusion in 72 patients with acute anterior wall myocardial infarction. The reduction of ST-segment elevation after successful PCI more than 50% was defined as ST-segment resolution (ST reduction group). Persistent ST-segment elevation was defined as ≥50% of peak ST elevation (ST elevation group). Echocardiography was performed on 2 to 3 weeks (early phase) and 5 to 6 months(late phase)after PCI to evaluate the LV function and ventricular wall motion abnormality (VWMA). Results Fifty-three patients (74%) had early ST segment elevation resolution and 19 patients (26%) did not. The LV function and VWMA were similar in two groups during early phase. But during the late phase, ST elevation group patients had lower LVEF and higher LVEDVI, LVESVI, VWMA index compared with ST reduction group (P

Carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) is a common peripheral neuropathy, which include a series of symptoms results from median nerve injury. Electrical physical examination is the gold standard for diagnosis of CTS. More new technology, such as high frequency ultrasound and magnetic resonance imaging, provides more information for the diagnosis of CTS.

BACKGROUND:There is a close relationship between epilepsy and apoptosis. The appearance of epilepsy can lead to the loss of neurons in the hippocampus, triggering a series of programmed cel death. OBJECTIVE:To investigate the effect of bone marrow stromal stem cel transplantation on apoptosis in epilepsy. METHODS:After modeled to be of epilepsy 45, Sprague-Dawley model rats were randomly divided into three groups, fol owed by given no intervention (moldel group), normal saline (normal saline group) or bone marrow stromal stem cel transplantation (transplantation group). At 1, 2 and 4 weeks after modeling, the number of Bax-positive cel s, Bcl-2-positive cel s and Bax/Bcl-2 were detected by immunohistochemistry. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:The number of Bax-positive cel s, Bcl-2-positive cel s and Bax/Bcl-2 presented no obvious changes in the normal saline group at different time points. However, the number of Bax-positive cel s and Bax/Bcl-2 in the transplantation group was significantly decreased, while the number of Bcl-2-positive cel s significantly increased compared with the other two groups at 1, 2 and 4 weeks after modeling (P<0.05). Moreover, the above indicators varied significantly in the transplantation group at different time points after modeling (P<0.05). These results show that bone marrow stromal stem cel transplantation can affect the apoptosis and effectively reduce the apoptosis in rats with epilepsy by up-regulating the number of Bax-positive cel s and down-regulating the number of Bcl-2-positive cel s.

Objective To evaluate the curative effect of infection caused by peritoneal dialysis(PD) catheter. Methods Eighty patients with infections caused by peritoneal dialysis catheter were enrolled in this study and randomized into silver-containing hydrofiber dressing group and control group with 40 patients in each group. The control group was treated with iodophor and/or gentamicin and the treatment group with silver-containing hydrofiber dressings. The two groups were compared in terms of curative effect at the wounds and time for cure. Result The cure rate in the treatment group was significantly higher than that in the control group (P<0.05), and the cure time in the observation group was significantly shorter as compared to the control group. Conclusion Silver-containing hydrofiber dressing is effective in the treatment of PD catheter-induced infections , and it can shorten treatment duration and reduce the frequency of dressing change.

Objective To investigate the expression pattern of microRNA (miRNA) in the kidneys of unilateral ureteral obstruction (UUO) rats and to identify specific miRNA related to renal interstitial fibrosis (RIF).Methods Forty-eight male SD rats were divided into two groups:UUO group and sham-operated (Sham) group.Rats were sacrificed at 3,7 and 14 days after operation.Histologic changes were examined by Masson staining.Forty-eight selected miRNAs were examined by stem-loop real-time qPCR.Results At the 3rd day after operation,obstructed kidneys from operation rats showed mild edema in the interstitium and mononuclear cell infiltration.At the 7th day after operation,focal interstitial fibrosis was observed.At the 14th day after operation,fibrosis became more severe.The Sham kidneys showed no pathological changes.At the 3th day after operation,25 miRNAs were differentially expressed.At the 7th day after operation,24 miRNAs were aberrantly expressed,whereas 21 miRNAs were differentially expressed at the 14th day after operation (P＜0.05).Among these miRNAs,miR-132,miR-192,miR-194,miR-29c and miR-203 were consistently up-regulated or down-regulated in a time-dependent manner after operation.There were significantly correlations between the expression of five miRNAs and severity of tubulointerstitial injury (P＜0.05).Conclusions There are at least 20 miRNAs differentially expressed in the process of RIF induced by UUO.There are significantly correlations between the expression of miR-132,miR-192,miR-194,miR-29c and miR-203 and the severity of tubulointerstitial injury.They may be closely related to RIF.A further study is needed.

Objective To investigate the relationship between mean amplitude of glycemic excursions (MAGE) and cognitive impairment in elderly patients with type 2 diabetes.Methods Totally 80 patients (aged ＞ 60 years) with type 2 diabetic were selected.According to the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) score,the patients were divided into two groups:cognitive impairment group (31cases) and non-cognitive impairment group (49 cases).Then all subjects were observed by continuous glucose monitoring for 3 days including the mean blood glucose (MBG) and its standard deviation (SD),MAGE and numbers of glycemic excursion (NGE).Results Compared with noncognitive impairment group,diabetic course,fasting blood glucose,2 h postprandial glycemia,glycosylated hemoglobin (HbA1c) and body mass index (BMI) were significantly different with the cognitive impairment group (P＜0.05).Furthermore,MAGE,MBG and SD were obviously higher than those in the non-cognitive impairment group [(5.89 ± 2.17) mmol/L vs.(3.15 ± 0.60) mmol/L,t＝8.37,P＝0.00; (11.85±3.45) mmol/L vs.(8.23±1.73)mmol/L,t＝6.23,P＝0.00; (3.16±1.29)mmol/L vs.(1.26±0.42)mmol/L,t＝9.57,P＝0.00].MoCA scores of patients with type 2 diabetes were negatively correlated with MAGE (r ＝-0.891,P ＜ 0.01).After multiple linear regression analysis,diabetic course,2 h postprandial glycemia,MAGE and SD remained independently associated with cognitive impairment in type 2 diabetic patients (R2 ＝0.835,P＜0.05)Conclusions MAGE during a daily period is associated with cognitive impairment independent of fasting blood glucose,postprandial glycemia and HbA1c.
