Chinese Journal of Behavioral Medicine and Brain Science 2011;20(9):843-845
Objective To study the mediating effect of quality of life( QOL) between childhood abuse and depression and anxiety of college students, and to provide basis to intervene their mental disorder. Methods Through stratified sampling,2374 college students in Jiangsu were investigated by the personal report of childhood abuse ( PRCA),Beck depression rating scale ( BDI ),self-rating anxiety scale (SAS) and the world health of organization quality of life brief scale(WHOQOL-BREF).A path analysis was applied by AMOS( Analysis of Moment Structures) version 7.0.Results The path analysis shows that childhood abuse was directly related to depression and anxiety of college students( Sβ =0.145,0.130; P<0.01 ),and was inversely related to 4 domains of the WHOQOL-BREF( S3 =- 0.251 ~ - 0.287 ; P < 0.01 ).3 domains ( exclusion SOCIL domain) of the WHOQOL-BREF were directly related to depression and anxiety of college students( Sβ =- 0.089 ~ - 0.421 ; P <0.01 ).3 domains ( exclusion SOCIL domain) of the WHOQOL-BREF mediate the relationship between childhood abuse and depression and anxiety of college students. The model Ⅱ fit indexes of were x2/df =1.674,P=0.187,RMSEA =0.017,RMR =0.052,GFI =1.000,AGFI =0.994,NF1 =1.000,RFI =0.995,IFI =1.000,TLI =0.998,CFI =1.000.Conclusion Quality of life as mediated variable mediates the relationship between childhood abuse and anxiety and depression of college students.

Background and purpose:Angiofollicular lymphoid hyperplasia(Castleman's disease,CD) is a rare kind of abnormal disease with lymphoid hyperplasia. We analyzed the clinical data of 21 patients with pathologically-confirmed CD. Methods:Twenty-one cases, including 10 males and 11 females with a mean age of 38.6 years, with CD were collected from January 1971 to December 2007 in this study. The disease was divided into localized type(n=19) and disseminated type(n=2) . The clinical data,CT images and pathological and surgical results were restrospectively analyzed. Results:All cases were categorized as hyaline vascular type. In 19 cases with localized type of CD,the lesion presented as a solitary soft-tissue mass with a mean diameter of 5.2 cm,located at the left and right hilus of the lung(n=3 and 2 respectively) or in the interior lung(n=3) ,in the thoracic wall(n=2) or in the mediastinum(n=9) . Two cases of disseminated type were characterized by many groups of thoracic lymphadenopathy with a mean diameter of 2.3 cm,without other organ involvement. On plain CT scan, the mean CT value was 42 Hu. After contrast administration, obvious homogeneous enhancement was observed in arterial phase with CT value of 112 Hu. The preoperative misdiagnosis by CT was 90.5%. Conclusion:CD have no specifi c CT characteristic, its verifi cation is mainly based on pathologic examination. Surgical resection for localized type of CD is curative, but for disseminated CD,multidisciplinary therapies are recommended.

Objective To find an ideal liver cirrhosis portal hypertension model in big animals suitable for surgical study. Methods Twenty canines were treated by subcutaneous injection of 60% CCl4 colza oil emulsion into the back,at a dose of 1.0-1.3 mL/kg every 10 days for a total of 6-8 times. At the same time,it was combined with the control of food intake. All canines were fed with rice mixed with 10% hog fat.The amount of rice was 15 g/kg per day from the first day to the forth day,but the amount of food was not controlled from the fifth day to the tenth day.During the process, the canines′ general condition was observed and the changes of hepatic functions such as ALT,TP,ALB,G and A/G were measured. The changes of liver morphology, the diameter and blood flow of portal vein were monitored with color Doppler.Every two weeks,a piece of hepatic tissue to observe the pathological change of liver was excised operatively. Results During the process, the body weight of the canines decreased continually;ALT increased during early and middle stages and decreased during advanced stage;TP and ALB always decreased, and A/G continuously decreased, but G did not change significamtly.Eight weeks after injection, liver became progressively smaller.its density was not well-distributed,and liver particles gradually became coarse, and liver capsule became rough. The diameter of portal veins became larger and the velocity of portal vein became slower.Liver cirrhosis with psudolobules was found on light microscopy from the tenth week to the twelfth week.Three canines died, with mortality of 15.0%.Conclusions It took 10-12 weeks to establish this liver cirrhosis portal hypertension models in canines by subcutaneous injection of CCl4.This method is convenient, has high success rate, and is suitable for use in surgieal research.

Objective To investigate re-innervation in the neovaginal mucosa of patients underwent sigmoid colon vaginoplasty in treatment of Mayer-Rokitansky-Kistner-Hauser Syndrome (MRKHS).Methods Biopsies in the upper third of the posterior neovagina were taken in 20 patients treated by sigmoid colon vaginoplasty at 1, 2 and 3 years after surgery, respectively. Protein gene product 9. 5 ( PGP 9. 5 ),vasoactive intestinal peptide (VIP) and neuropeptide Y (NPY) were detected by immunohistochemical method and compared with those in intact sigmoid colon mucosa. Results ( 1 ) Density of nerve fiber:abundant distribution of PGP 9. 5 nerve fibers were observed in the mucosal muscle layer, submucosa, and smooth muscle layer of the neovagina. The nerve fibers of VIP and NPY immunoreactivity were mainly distributed around blood vessels and in the smooth muscles. In the neovagina, the density of nerve fibers of PGP 9. 5 of 17 ± 6 were much more than VIP of 2. 9 ± 1.0 and NPY of 2. 5 ± 0. 8 significantly ( P < 0. 05 ).( 2 ) Expression of PGP 9. 5 in neovagina: at 1 year after surgery, PGP 9. 5 positive expression of 14 ± 4 was significantly lower in the neovagina than 28 ± 7 in the intact sigmoid colon( P < 0. 05 ). However, after 2 to 3 years, its expression displayed an upgrade tendency in the neovagina and was significantly higher at the 3 year postoperatively than that at the 1 years postoperatively ( 22 ± 7 vs. 14 ± 4, P < 0. 05 ). The changes were much more obvious in submucosa. (3) The expression of VIP and NPY in neovagina: at 1 year after surgery, VIP and NPY positive nerve fibers were also decreased in the neovagina when compared with those in the intact sigmoid colon ( 2. 3 ± 0. 7 vs. 5.3 ± 1.4, P < 0. 05; 2.5 ± 1. 1 vs. 5.5 ± 1.1, P < 0. 05 ) . At 2 to 3 years after surgery, the positive VIP fiber showed initially decreased and subsequently increased tendency. The density of VIP of 3.7 ± 0. 7 in the neovagina at 3 years postoperatively was higher than 2. 3 ±0. 7 at 1 years postoperatively (P < 0. 05 ). No significant up-regulation was observed in NPY-positive expression in the neovagina within 3 years after operation. Conclusions Distribution of sensory PGP 9. 5,VIP and NPY immunoreactive nerve fibers was similar to the pattern observed within the intact sigmoid colon wall. The number of nerve fibers in the neovagina decreased after surgery and then increased subsequently within 3 years after surgery.
