Objective To evaluate the surgical technique and clinical application of retroperitoneal laparoscopic pyelolithotomy and ureterolithotomy with no suture of the incision. Methods Twenty-five patients who had upper urinary tract calculi with the course from 10 months to 6 years were enrolled. The size of the calculi was 1.2 to 3.1 cm in diameter.ESWL was ineffecative in 14 of the patients and ureteroscopic lithotomy failed in 2 of them. Then the 25 patients underwent retroperitoneal laparoscopic pyelolithotomy and ureterolithotomy.Details of the procedure were presented. Results All the operations were successful in the 25 patients. The operations took 60 to 190 min with a mean time of 105 min.All the patients fully recovered with no complication observed during the 9~12 months' follow-up. Conclusions Retroperitoneal laparoscopy surgery with no suture of the incision has advantages of minimal invasive, safe, effective and rapid postoperative rehabilitation. The surgical procedure has a good prospect in the urologic clinical practice.

Objective To investigate the physical and mechanical properties of home-made bone cement mixed with different antibiotics. Methods The specimens of bone cement each of 40g were divid-ed in to6groups depending on mixed antibiotics, groupⅠmixed with1g gentamicin,groupⅡwith2g gen tam icin,groupⅢwith1g cephradine,groupⅣwith1.5g cefuroxine,groupⅤwith1g ceftriaxone and groupⅥwith out any antibiotics served as control. The dough time, compressing depth, compressive strength, bending strength and bending elastic modulus were measured respectively, elution examination of antibiotics from bone ce ment was performed by chromatography. Results The dough time and compress-ing depth of the groups were better than that of ISO5833standard,and there was no significant difference a-mong the groups. The com pressive strength and bending strength of the groupⅡwere lower than that ISO5833standard,but there was no significant difference among the groups by analysis of variance. The bending elastic modulus of the groupⅡwas lower than the control group and other groups(P

Chinese Journal of Endocrinology and Metabolism 2010;26(2):125-126
To examine the relationship between genetic variants in the interleukin-6 receptor gene and obesity. The result showed that the carriers of Asp358 homozygotes had higher risk in developing obesity when compared with Ala358 homozygotes (OR = 1.32,95% CI 1.07-1.68, P = 0. 041). Interleukin-6 receptor gene pulymorphism was significantly associated with obesity.

Objective To study the expression of interleukin (IL-17A) in primary liver cancer (PHC) tissue and its clinical significance. Methods Reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and immunohistochemistry was performed respectively to detect the expression of IL-17A mRNA and CD34 in tumor tissues from 37 patients with PHC.Murine H22 cells cultured in vitro were exposed to IL-17A at different dosages (0.1,0.5,1.0,5.0,10,50,100,500,1000 ng/ml) and the cell proliferation was assayed by MTT.IL-17A was administered to the mice transplanted with H22 cancer cells via caudal vein and the tumor volume was measured by vernier caliper.Immunohistochemistry was used to detect the CD31 expression in H22 cancer tissues. Results IL-17A mRNA was detected in 26 of the 37 samples of primary liver cancer. The microvessel densities in IL-17A-positive samples and IL-17A-negative samples were 66.6 ± 2.5 and 26.7--2.5,respectively.The difference between two groups was significant (P<0.01).The proliferation of H22 cells exposed to various dosages of IL-17A was not different (P>0.05).The volume of murine tumor tissue in animals treated with IL-17A was (843.6± 90.9) mm3 and in untreated animals was (198.7±24.4) mm3 (P<0.01).The microvessel density in treated group and control group was 71.9± 6.8 and 33.3 ± 2.9,respectively (P<0.01).Conclusions The expression of IL-17A could be detected in a considerable proportion of primary liver cancers and correlated with angiogenesis.Exogenous IL-17A could not accelerate H22 cell proliferation in vitro but in vivo probably via enhancing angiogenesis.

Journal of Huazhong University of Science and Technology (Medical Sciences) 2004;24(1):92-4
By using distraction osteogenesis technique, 3 cases of mandibular hypoplasia were treated by home-made and German-made jaw distractors: including one patient suffered from bilateral ankylosis of temporo-mandibular joint and 2 patients from deficiency of mandible. The duration of distraction osteogenesis was one month. The bone distractor was removed 3 months after operation. Satisfactory results were obtained in all 3 cases. Distraction osteogenesis can successfully be used in mandibular functional reconstruction and has much more advantages than traditional technique.

Objective To evaluate the clinical efficacy and safety of Holmium laser in the treat ment of calyceal stricture and atresia through antegrade percutaneous nephrostomy. Methods Ante grade percutaneous nephrostomy was performed in 68 patients with calyceal stricture and atresiathrough a rigid 8/9.8 F ureteroscope. The stricture and atresia was incised in a linear fashion by theHolmium laser with a 550 mm fiber. After completion of the incision,a double J ureteral stent wasplaced for 6-8 weeks and nephrostomy tube was kept for 7 days thereafter. Patients were then fol lowed up with IVU and/or ultrasound at 3-6 month intervals. Results The mean operative timewas 90 min, ranged from 80 to 120 min. The mean postoperative hospital stay was 8 d(7-9d). Hy dronephrosis was significantly improved in 38 cases in an average follow up of 9 months (4-26 months). Repeated laser incision was performed to 4 treatment failures and all turned out to be suc cessful. Conclusions The Holmium laser treatment through antegrade percutaneous nephrostomyfor calyceal stricture and atresia has characteristics of minimal invasion, short hospital stay, good effi cacy in short term and repeated cases. This procedure to be used as the first choice for patients withgood renal function and mild hydronephrosis, especially accompanied with renal calculus.

Chinese Journal of Dermatology 1994;0(05):-
Objective To study the telomerase activity, the keratinocyte apoptosis in condyloma ac-cuminatum(CA)and the correlation between them. Methods CA specimens from30patients were stud-ied,and compared with normal tissue and tumor cell lines.Telomerase activity was detected with telomeric repeat amplification polymerase chain reaction(TRAP)-ELISA.Terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase(TdT)-mediated biotin dUTP nick end-labeling(TUNEL)was used to evaluate apoptotic cells. Results Increased telomerase activity was detected in27(90%)patients with CA,with A 450 ranging between0.50and2.76(mean1.3022).Apoptotic keratinocytes were found in24out of30CA cases(80%).A statistically signifi-cant inverse correlation was found between telomerase activity and apoptotic index(r =-0.52,P=0.004).Conclusion Keratinocyte telomerase is activated in condyloma acuminata, which is correlated with the downregulation of apoptosis, thus they might be involved in the pathogenesis of CA.
