Objective:To investigate the inhibitive effect of Astragalus injection on CCl 4-ethanol-induced hepatic fibrosis.Methods:40% CCl 4 and 5% ethanol were used to induce hepatic fibrosis.Astragalus injection group:Astragalus injection(800mg/kg?d) was administered during formation of inducing hepatic fibrosis.Model control group only received saline.After 7 weeks,all groups were compared in terms of serum examinations(HA,LN) and liver tissue examinations(change of histology,degree of hepatic fibrosis,level of SOD and MDA,and immunohistochemistry of LN).Results:Compared with model control group,treatment of rats with Astragalus injection remarkably decreased serum HA and LN levels( P

Objective To study the effect of ursolic acid(UA) on apoptosis of the ovarian cancer cell line SKOV3 and its action mechanisms. Methods The SKOV3 cells were treated with UA at different concentration. The proliferation inhibition was examined by MTT assay. Morphological examination and flow cytometry were used to detect apoptosis. RT-PCR and immunocytochemical method were used to detect the expression of wild type p53,an apoptosis related genes. The semi-quantification of protein expression was analyzed by pathological image-analysis. Results UA inhibited the proliferation of SKOV3 cells strongly. Apoptosis of SKOV3 cells were induced by UA treatment. The morphology of SKOV3 showed changes such as chromatin aggregation, nuclear and cytoplasmic condensation and apoptotie bodies appearance. UA caused significant G0/G1 arrest with a concomitant decrease of cell population in S and G2/M phases. Apoptotic cells were found by flow cytometry. The maximal early apoptotic rate was (28.7±2.4)% when exposed to 40 μmol/L for 48 h. The expression of p53 gene and protein was enhanced. All these effects were in a dose and time-dependent manner Conclusion UA induced apoptotic processes in the ovarian cancer SKOV3 cell line were the mechanism involving p53 pathway.

?AlM: To discuss the differences in accommodative lag of different stimulation between the adolescent myopes who wore rigid gas permeable contact lens ( RGPCL ) and spectacles for one year.
?METHODS: Totally 85 myopes between 10-16y were enrolled in the study. Every subject was examined with the visual function test, medical optometry, corneal topography and ocular health check etc. of eyes. According to the above measurements and the compliance of children and their parents, 41 subjects were selected to wear RGPCL, 44 subjects were chosen to wear spectacles. Based on maximum plus to maximum visual acuity ( MPMVA) , accommodative lag was determined by dynamic retinoscopy method in two groups. The subjects were examined once every 3mo, accommodative lag was measured again using the same method for comparative analysis after one year. Wearing a year later, myopia progression of the two groups was measured and compared.
?RESULTS: There was no significant difference between two groups of initial accommodative lag (P>0. 05). After wearing one year, there was also no significant difference between the accommodative lag examined and the initial lag in RGPCL group (P>0. 05), the results demonstrate significant difference between the accommodative lag examined after wearing one year and the initial lag in spectacles group ( P < 0. 05 ). One year later, the differences were significant in accommodative lag between RGPCL and spectacles wearers stimulated by 2D, 3D and 4D ( P < 0. 05 ), and the accommodative lag increased with increasing stimulation in both groups. After wearing a year, the myopia progression of RGPCL group was less than spectacles wearers, and the differences were significant (P<0. 05).
?CONCLUSlON:After wearing RGPCL and spectacles one year in high accommodative stimulus, there is an obviously decreased in accommodative lag in RGPCL group, which suggests that RGPCL can control the progression of myopia in adolescents. The accommodative lag of the two groups increase obviously with increasing stimulation, which suggest that the adolescents need keeping good habits of reading.

Objective To observe the efficacy and safety of joint mobilization therapy for osteoarthritis of knee joint.Methods 120 patients with osteoarthritis of knee joint were randomly divided into the treatment group and control group with 60 cases in each group. The treatment group were treated with joint mobilization and synthesis rehabilitation therapy, and control group only with synthesis rehabilitation therapy.Results The total effective rate was 90.00% in the treatment group and 76.67% in the control group according to analysis of intention-to-treat, and 92.73% in the treatment group and 80.77% in the control group based on analysis of per-protocol population. There was a significant difference between the two groups ( P<0.05). No adverse effect was found in the treatment group.Conclusion The joint mobilization therapy is efficacy and safety for osteoarthritis of knee joint.

Corneal refractive surgery has been the major solution for the correction of ametropia.With the standardization of preoperative examination,intraoperative procedure and perioperative drugs,corneal refractive surgery has become much safer.Meanwhile,patients can get not only good visual acuity,but also favorable visual quality.However,the patient satisfaction has not been improved dramatically with the enhance of effectiveness and safety after surgery.Increase of the satisfaction degree to corneal refractive surgery is related to multiple factors such as experienced and highly skilled operation,operative safety,lessening operative complication,good postoperative visual and life quality of patients.Comprehensively analyzing existing problems in corneal refractive surgery in China and further obtain satisfaction of patient will be of an important significance for the healthy development of laser corneal refractive surgery.

Japanese encephalitis virus (JEV) is a pathogenic mosquito-borne flavivirus which is responsible for outbreaks of severe viral encephalitis. The cellular entry of JEV is a prerequisite for Japanese encephalitis, so the understanding of its underlying mechanisms will provide more approaches for treating such disease. In recent years, increasing research has been conducted to investigate the mechanisms of cellular entry of JEV, and the results of research on other flavivirus have expanded the research directions for JEV. More methods will be used to suppress JEV infection because of the development of E protein antibodies and the discovery of several inhibitors of the cellular entry process. This review will summarize the recent advances in the mechanisms of JEV cellular entry and membrane fusion.

It is emphasized that by following the holistic concept of TCM, the local acupoints and whole-body acupoints cooperate closely, forming her special combination method of acupoints. In clinic, attention is focused on the application of many acupuncture techniques and extra points. With the combination of acupuncture and Chinese material medica, the treatment is flexible with superior clinical efficacy.

Transcription factor NF-κB has attracted attention due to its important role in the regulation of the expression of a number of cellular genes involved in host defense, inflammation/immune responses, cytokine and growth factor regulation, cell survival, proliferation, and also in embryonic development and programmed cell death. In this review, we provide an overview of established TNF-α, TLR/IL-1R, TCR and BCR signaling pathways to NF-κB, the alternative NF-κB pathway, and the regulation of NF-κB transcriptional activity. Furthermore, we discuss on emphasis the cross-talks between NF-κB and other signaling pathways (TGF-β, p53, nuclear receptor family, Ras/MEK/MAPK...), which are very complex and remain to be understood. The activation or inhibition of NF-κB has effect on other signaling pathways. They compose a complex signaling network, in which many regulatory signals integrate systematically and coordinate transcriptional responses to the stimulations. So when NF-κB is used as an important target of drugs in human diseases, the pathological and physiological functions of related signal pathways also should be understood sufficiently.

Objective To explore the change of serum amino acid serum in patients with liver cirrhosis and liver cancer, and its significance.Methods The serum amino acids of 46 patients with liver cirrhosis and 44 patients with liver cancer were examined with analyzer of Hitachi 835.Results In the case of patients with liver cirrhosis, the levels of glutamic acid, cystine, methionine and tyrosine in serum were significantly increased (P＜0.01),while, the level of phenylalanine in serum was obviously increased (P＜0.05). When it came to patients with liver cancer, the levels of serum threonine, tyrosine and phenylalanine were significantly increased (P＜0.01), the level of serum serine was obviously higher (P＜0.05). The level of BCAA/AAA (branched chain amino acids/aromatic amino acid) in the two groups was lower than that in the normal control group (P＜0.01). The levels of serum valine and leucine were lower than those in the normal control group (P＜0.05).Conclusion Analyzing the levels of serum amino acids has a certain significance for diagnosing and treating patients with liver cirrhosis and liver cancer.
