Based on the standard strain-Vibrio parahaemolyticus BJ1.1997, temperature (7?C～43?C) and salinity (0.5%～9.5% NaCl) which affected its growth status was studied with uniform design. The results showed that Logistic equation was optimal in primary models, the second was Gompertz equation, the last was Linear equation, so growth parameters can calculated from Logistic equation. The secondary model was developed by square root models, its r value was 0.9863, the lowest growth temperature was 9.0506?C and the highest growth salinity was 5.93% [the corresponding lowest growth water activity (Aw min) was 0.9227]. Through F test, residual analysis and evaluation by bias factor and accuracy factor, the model can exactly describe the relationship between the growth rate and combined effect of temperature and salinity (water activity).

Teaching principles and class content were stated for a experimental course of common pathogenic bacteria detection methods for the undergraduate student in food quality and safety major. They include course material preview, advanced teaching methods, combination of teaching and research, graduate teaching assistant, experimental reports writing and experimental skills evaluation. All these means lead to a good teaching outcome.

Objective To develop a method for content determination of sinensetin,eupatorin,and 3′-hydroxy-5,6,7, 4′-tetramethoxyflavone in Orthosiphon stamineus. Methods The determination was carried out on a Symmetry C18 column (4.6 mm×250 mm,5 μm) by HPLC.The mobile consisted of acetonitrile and water containing 0.05% H3 PO4 in gradient elution. The flow rate was 1 mL?min-1 ,the column temperature was 30 ℃ ,the detected wavelength was set at 365 nm, and the injection volume was 10 μL. Results The peak areas and the sample quantity of the three components presented good linear relationship in the range of 0. 50 - 5. 00 μg for sinensetin,0. 50 - 5. 00 μg for eupatorin, and 0. 05 - 0. 50 μg for 3′-hydroxy-5,6,7,4′-tetramethoxyflavone.The average recoveries were 101.26%,100.28% and 99.66%,respectively. RSD were 1.73%, 0.82% and 1.67%, respectively. Conclusion The method is proved to be simple,accurate and can be used for the quality evaluation of Orthosiphon stamineus.

This study aims to construct a dynamic two-dimensional characterization technique for the hygroscopicity of traditional Chinese medicine extracts and investigate the effect of material properties of powders on hygroscopicity. The dynamic hygroscopicity-time curves of the powders were measured at 25 ℃ and 75% humidity, and the semi-equilibrium hygroscopicity time (t_1/2) and equilibrium hygroscopicity (F^∞) were derived as two-dimensional evaluation indicators. Finally, the correlation between the material properties and the hygroscopic behavior was analyzed by principal component analysis (PCA) and partial least squares analysis (PLS). The results showed that the dynamic two-dimensional characterization system of hygroscopicity constructed with 1/t_1/2 = 0.1 h^-1 and F^∞ = 15% as the center can classify the hygroscopic behavior of traditional Chinese medicine extracts into four categories: fast hygroscopicity with strong hygroscopicity, slow hygroscopicity with strong hygroscopicity, fast hygroscopicity with weak hygroscopicity and slow hygroscopicity with weak hygroscopicity. The moisture absorption was negatively correlated with D₅₀, D₉₀, ρ_b and ρ_t; the moisture absorption rate was negatively correlated with D₁₀, D₅₀, D₉₀, ρ_b, ρ_t, and positively correlated with moisture content. The hygroscopicity dynamic two-dimensional characterization indicators of Chinese medicine extracts (CMEs) constructed in this study matched with the physical properties. The method of dynamic multi-dimensional characterization technology is feasible and scientific, and the idea has strong promotional value.

OBJECTIVELeft ventricular remodeling (LVR) following myocardial infarction (MI) is a key pathophysiological process in which MI develops into heart failure. The exact mechanism of LVR remains unclear. We performed differential proteomic analysis on the myocardia of rats with LVR after MI, to explore the mechanism of ventricular remodeling after MI.

METHODSIn the LVR group (n = 12), after the anterior descending coronary artery was ligated, the rats were fed for four weeks before the LVR models were established. Rats in the sham-operated group (n = 11) underwent thread-drawing without ligation. The hemodynamic parameters, pathological findings, and proteomics were compared between the two groups.

RESULTSIn the LVR group, the left ventricular end-diastolic pressure increased, the maximal left ventricular pressure increase/decrease ratio decreased significantly, and the left ventricular systolic pressure decreased. H-E staining and Masson staining of cardiac muscle tissues of the LVR group showed myocytolysis, disarray, and collagen proliferation. Twenty-one differentially expressed proteins were detected by proteomic analysis. We validated two proteins using western blot analysis. The differentially expressed proteins could be divided into six categories: energy metabolism-related proteins, cytoskeletal proteins, protein synthesis-related proteins, channel proteins, anti-oxidation- related proteins, and immune-related proteins.

CONCLUSIONThese differentially expressed proteins might play key roles in LVR following MI.

OBJECTIVETo estimate the prevalence of subcretins in 8 minorities of Yunnan province and to provide scientific basis for public health policy-making, as well as for prevention and control of iodine deficiency disorders.

METHODSFour thousand two hundred and twenty-two minority school children aged 8-12 years selected from 29 schools in 8 minority counties were measured by Combined Raven's Test in China (CRT-C(2)) and Jinyi Psychomotor test Battery (JPB).

RESULTSAverage of intelligence quotient (IQ) on 4,222 children was 91 +/- 19. Among 277 pupils with IQ between 55 - 69, 119 of them showed abnormal on JPB test and 5.4% of the children was found to have Goiter under ultrasonography. Median level of urinary iodine was 466.9 microg/L, and the qualified rate of iodized salt was 94.9%.

CONCLUSIONThe estimated prevalence rate of subcretin was 2.8%.

OBJECTIVEThe study was designed to investigate the expression patterns of metalloproteinase (MMP)-13 protein in invasive breast carcinoma and to determine the clinicopathological and prognostic values of its various localization and relation to the tumor phenotypes.

METHODSImmunohistochemistry was performed on paraffin-embedded tissue array from 263 invasive breast carcinomas to investigate the protein expressions of MMP-13, estrogen receptor, progesterone receptor, HER2, MMP-2, MMP-9 and tissue inhibitor of matrix metalloproteinases (TIMP)-1, TIMP-2.

RESULTSMMP-13 protein was detected in the cytoplasm of carcinoma cells and peritumoral fibroblasts. High level expression of MMP-13 protein in tumor cells was associated with more lymph node involvement and higher tumor grade (both P < 0.01), and positively correlated with HER2 (P = 0.015) and TIMP-1 protein (P < 0.01) expression in carcinoma cells. Moreover, high expression of MMP-13 was associated with shortened overall survival for the entire patient population and the patient group with positive lymph node. Tumor cell derived MMP-13 had different impact on patients with different HER2 status. Peritumoral fibroblasts derived MMP-13 protein, although correlated with tumor cell derived MMP-13 and associated with lymph node stage and HER2 expression, was found having less prognostic impact. Univariate survival analysis showed that the tumor size, grade, lymph node status, PR status, HER2 expression, tumors TIMP-1 and MMP-13 expression were prognostic factors. However, multivariate survival analysis showed that only tumor size, lymph node status, HER2 expression, tumors TIMP-1 and MMP-13 were independent prognostic factors.

CONCLUSIONMMP-13 protein expressed by tumor cells correlates with the invasion and metastasis of breast carcinoma, and therefore, may serve as a poor prognostic marker for the patient.

OBJECTIVETo analyze the change of the neuronal restricted silencing factor (NRSF) gene as well as the NRSF regulation genes in beta-mercaptoethanol induction of the marrow mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) to neurons, and to discuss the function of NRSF in neural induction of the MSCs and the mechanism of the differentiation from MSCs to neurons.

METHODWe used beta-mercaptoethanol, serum-free DMEM, and dimethyl sulfoxide to induce rat MSCs to differentiate to neurons, and then analyzed the changes of the expressions of NRSF gene and NRSF-regulated genes through real-time PCR.

RESULTSThe rat MSCs were successfully induced to differentiate into neuron-like cells. The induced neuron marker, neuron-specific enolase, was positive. Real-time PCR showed that the expression of NRSF gene remarkably declined. The expressions of neurotrophic tyrosine kinase receptor, type 3, synaptosomal-associated protein 25, L1 cell adhesion molecular,neuronal pentraxin receptor in the NRSF-regulated genes also increased at varied extents.

CONCLUSIONSThe differentiation from MSCs to neurons is relevant with the decline of NRSF expression and the increase of the expressions of NRSF-regulated genes. The NRSF may be the key gene during the differentiation from MSCs to neurons.

OBJECTIVETo survey the prevalence and risk factors of HSV-2 among Chinese and Vietnamese female sex workers (FSW) in the border county of Hekou, Yunnan Province, China.

METHODSA cross-sectional survey was conducted on demographics, sexual behavior, medical history, and drug use among FSWs. Laboratory samples were obtained to test for HSV-2 and other STIs such as HIV, Syphilis, Trichomonas vaginalis, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Chlamydia trachomatis, Bacterial vaginosis, and Yeast infections. Cervicitis and genital warts were also diagnosed.

RESULTSOf the 345 FSWs who participated in this study, 112 (32.5%) were ethnic Chinese and 233 (67.5) were Vietnamese. Among FSWs in Hekou, the prevalence rates were 58.3% for HSV-2, 5.5% for HIV, and 4.1% for bacterial vaginosis (BV). Age<21 (OR: 0.5; 95% CI: 0.3, 0.8), duration of commercial sex work≤3 months (OR: 0.5; 95% CI: 0.3, 0.8), oral and vaginal sex with the last client (as opposed to only vaginal sex) (OR: 1.6; 95% CI: 1.0, 2.7), HIV (OR: 11.4; 95% CI: 1.5, 87.2), and bacterial vaginosis (BV) (OR: 5.6; 95% CI: 1.2, 26.9) were significantly correlated with HSV-2 infection.

CONCLUSIONMultivariate analysis showed that several factors were significantly correlated with the high prevalence of HSV-2 in FSWs in the border area between China and Vietnam. Further studies and interventions are needed for HSV-2 epidemiology in the border area.

The 2018 Academic Annual Meeting of the Chinese Burn Association, sponsored by the Chinese Medical Association and the Chinese Burn Association, was successfully held in Fuzhou, Fujian Province, from October 24th to 27th. The theme of this conference is " One China, One Standard". A total of 1, 798 submissions were received, and 1, 060 registered representatives, more than 2, 000 representatives from 9 countries and regions attended the meeting. Focusing on the theme of " One China, One Standard" , the conference adopted a variety of innovative forms such as academic debate, live surgery, BBS on both sides of the straits, award selection, and so on to provide participants with multiple ways for exchange on the professional hot issues in the key areas of burns. The atmosphere of the conference was warm. The 2019 annual academic conference is scheduled to be held in Zhuhai, China.
