Objective : To investigate the factors of hyperglycemia among HIV/AIDS patients receiving antiretroviral therapy (ART) in Ningbo City. Methods : The demographic characteristics, ART and fasting blood glucose were collected from HIV/AIDS patients receiving ART in Ningbo City from 2005 to 2021 through the Ningbo Municipal ART Database. The fasting blood glucose levels were analyzed among HIV/AIDS patients receiving ART, and the factors affecting hyperglycemia were identified using a multivariable logistic regression model. Results : A total of 2 607 HIV/AIDS patients were enrolled, including 2 162 men (82.93%), and the participants had a mean age of (45.16±13.93) years, and had mean ART duration of 5.00 years (interquartile range, 5.00 years). The prevalence of hyperglycemia, impaired fasting glucose and diabetes was 22.59%, 13.62% and 8.98%, respectively. Multivariable logistic regression analysis showed that gender (male, OR=1.482, 95%CI: 1.120-1.961), age (30 years-, OR=2.062, 95%CI: 1.356-3.137; 45 years-, OR=3.697, 95%CI: 2.435-5.611; 60 years and older, OR=7.295, 95%CI: 4.722-11.268), WHO clinical staging of HIV diseases (stage Ⅱ, OR=1.415, 95%CI: 1.097-1.824; stage Ⅲ, OR=1.571, 95%CI: 1.139-2.168; stage Ⅳ, OR=1.488, 95%CI: 1.040-2.128, duration of HIV infections (7 to <10 years, OR=1.336, 95%CI: 1.004-1.777), treatment regimen (second-line regimen, OR=0.611, 95%CI: 0.472-0.792), and blood lipids (high TG, OR=1.665, 95%CI: 1.307-2.123; high TC, OR=1.415, 95%CI: 1.006-1.991; dyslipidemia, OR=2.597, 95%CI: 1.971-3.422) significantly correlated with hyperglycemia. Conclusions The overall prevalence of hyperglycemia was 22.59% among HIV/AIDS patients with ART in Ningbo City, and the prevalence of hyperglycemia correlated with gender, age, clinical staging of HIV infections, duration of HIV infections, treatment regimens and blood lipids among HIV/AIDS patients.

Methods 12 freshly-frozen cadaver legs amputated below the knee were collected and divided into 2 groups. An ankle fracture model of unconstrained pronation-external rotation was then designed. Group A simulated the injury combined with medial malleolus fracture, and Group B the injury combined with deltoid tear. Ligaments were cut off sequentially to simulate the increasing severity of the injury. Fuji super low-pressure sensitive films and displacement transducers were used to measure the contact area of the tibiotalar articular surface and the width of the syndesmosis. Objective To determine the efficacy of lifestyle interventions in adults with impaired glucose tolerance (IGT).Methods MEDLINE (Pub Med),EMBASE,Science Citation Index (SCI),and Cochrane Database were retrieved for articles about the relations of lifestyle intervention and IGT.Searches were limited to English language publications.The RCTs outcome evaluated in this study included 2 h plasma glucose level and fasting plasma glucose,meta-analysis was carried oat by Stata 11.0 among articles for the inclusion and exclusion criteria.The difference of effects was expressed as standardized mean deviation(SMD).Results A total of 10 RCTs studies met the inclusion criteria.Lifestyle interventions were associated with a decline in 2 h plasma glucose and fasting plasma glucose level (SMD =-0.67,P＜0.01 ;SMD =-0.33,P＜0.01),but high heterogeneity was identified in this meta-analysis.Conclusion Physical,dietary and both combined interventions can reduce 2-h plasma glucose and fasting plasma glucose levels in adults with impaired glucose tolerance.As high heterogeneity was identified in this meta-analysis,more high quality research is needed.

Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is characterized by long course, poor prognosis, multiple complications and high cost of treatment, thus it has become a major public health problem. Based on review of publications pertaining to the epidemiological study of CKD from February 2002 to March 2023, this article summarizes the epidemiological characteristics, risk factors, prevention and control strategies of CKD. It is found that China has the largest number of adult patients with CKD in Asia, and the prevalence of CKD is higher among females and elderly people. The influencing factors for CKD include cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, hypertension and coronavirus disease 2019. Henceforth, it is of vital importance to emphasize three levels of prevention and optimize the CKD management, so as to support for prevention and control of CKD.

Pneumonia is a common lower respiratory tract infection, which causes a large disease and economic burden worldwide, and is an important public health problem to be solved urgently. Based on review of publications pertaining to the epidemiology of pneumonia from 2013 to 2023, this article summaries the epidemiological characteristics and main influencing factors of pneumonia. It is found that the epidemiological characteristics of pneumonia vary in different areas; men, the elderly and children are the high-risk groups of pneumonia incidence and mortality; and age, smoking, alcohol consumption, air pollution, comorbidity and vaccination are the main factors affecting the incidence and mortality of pneumonia. Strengthening health education, reducing exposure to risk factors and promoting vaccination are recommended to lower the morbidity and mortality of pneumonia in susceptible populations.

In this study ,we analyzed the genetic characterizations and propagation paths of measles viruses prevalent in Ningbo ,China from 2004 to 2013 .Measles viruses were isolated from throat swab specimens from 2004 to 2013 ,and 450 bp fragments of C terminus of nucleoprotein (N) gene were amplified by RT-PCR .Sequence analysis was conducted of all 31 virus strains ,and then compared with other measles virus strains published in GenBank .Results showed that all the 31 measles virus isolates belonged to genotype H1 ,6 strains (one strains in 2004 and 5 ones in 2005) belonged to H1b subtype ,and others be-longed to H1a subtype .Compared the 31 strains to the China 93-4 and China 94-7 ,the homology of 450 bp fragments of C ter-minus of nucleoprotein (N) gene were 97 .1%-100% and 96 .7%-100% ,respectively .The homology of 450 bp fragments of nu-cleotide and nucleotide (amino acids) compared with S191 were 81 .9%-92 .4% and 87 .2%-90 .6% ,respectively .It’s suggested that genotype H1 measles virus circulated in Ningbo from 2004 to 2013 ,and H1a was the predominant epidemic strain ,and H1b strain was existed as well .There are five different transmission chains of H1a subtype caused measles co-circulations in Ning-bo .

Objective: To analyze the trend in the mortality of liver cancer in Ningbo City from 2002 to 2021, so as to provide the evidence for improving the liver cancer control measures. Methods: The liver cancer mortality data in Ningbo City from 2002 to 2021 were collected from Ningbo Municipal Chronic Disease Surveillance System. The crude mortality and standardized mortality by the 2 000 national population census data of liver cancer were estimated, and the proportion of concomitant diseases was analyzed among all dead patients with liver cancer. In addition, the trends in liver cancer mortality were analyzed with annual percentage change (APC) and average annual percentage change (AAPC). Results: Both the crude and standardized mortality of liver cancer appeared a tendency towards a decline year by year in Ningbo City from 2002 to 2021, with AAPC of -3.47% (95%CI: -4.08% to -2.85%, P<0.001) and -6.56% (95%CI: -7.25% to -5.87%, P<0.001), and a the decline in liver cancer mortality was larger during the period between 2006 and 2021 than during the period between 2002 and 2006. The annual mean crude and standardized mortality of liver cancer was 35.39/105 and 20.98/105, and the crude mortality of liver cancer was 52.69/105 in men and 18.13/105 in women, respectively. After adjustment for age, the risk of liver cancer mortality was 3.03 (95%CI: 2.96-3.09) times greater among men than among women, and the mortality of liver cancer appeared a tendency towards a rise with age (χ2trend=45 684.254, P<0.001). Concomitant diseases were found among 9 985 dead cases with liver cancer (24.44%), and the concomitant diseases mainly included digestive system diseases (predominantly liver diseases) and infectious and parasitic diseases (predominantly virus hepatitis). Conclusions The mortality of liver cancer appeared a tendency towards a decline in Ningbo City from 2002 to 2021, and men and middle-aged and elderly residents were at high risk of liver cancer mortality. Digestive system diseases and infectious and parasitic diseases were predominant concomitant diseases among dead patients with liver cancer.

Objective: To explore the relationship between different temperature indicators and hospital admission for childhood pneumonia. Methods: The hospital admissions for pneumonia in children aged 0-14 years and meteorological data in Ningbo from 2015 to 2017 were collected. A distributed lag non-linear model combined with a generalized linear model was employed to analyze the exposure-response relationships between different temperature indicators（daily average,minimum and maximum temperature;the first percentile as low temperature and the 99th percentile as high temperature）and hospital admission for childhood pneumonia. Results: A total of 4 542 cases of childhood pneumonia were recruited. There were obvious seasonal fluctuations found in the inpatient volume of childhood pneumonia,which peaked in winter and bottomed in summer. After adjusting for potential confounding variables such as relative humidity,PM2.5,long term trend and seasonal trend,the results suggested that after exposed to whether low or high temperature,the inpatient volume of childhood pneumonia would increase. When the daily average temperature and daily minimum temperature were employed,the effect of high temperature on the increase of inpatient volume for childhood pneumonia was statistically significant and the cumulative relative risk for a lag of 0-7 days were 1.52（95%CI：1.04-2.23）and 1.59（95%CI：1.08-2.34）,respectively. When the daily maximum temperature was employed,the effect of low temperature on the increase of inpatient volume for childhood pneumonia was statistically significant and the cumulative relative risk for a lag of 0-7 days were 1.30（95%CI：1.02-1.66）. Conclusion Our findings suggested that an increased risk of hospital admission for childhood pneumonia was associated with both low and high temperature.

The current sexual transmission of newly infected HIV cases is complicated in China. It is crucial for interrupting HIV transmission by HIV tracing and molecular network analysis,conducting early detection and precise prevention among HIV-positive individuals. The articles in this issue focused on the global situation of HIV tracing, and molecular network analysis in promoting accurate detection and prevention of AIDS started from analyzing the reported epidemiological characteristics of HIV/AIDS in Ningbo city from 2017 to 2020. Relations of HIV transmission between HIV positive individuals and sex partners by tracing investigation were also, analyzed. Data on HIV transmission mode by combining social and molecular networks were gathered to provide evidence for applied research on precise detection, prevention, and control of AIDS.
