Chinese Journal of Medical Library and Information Science 2016;(2):65-68
Objective To study the reasons why PLoS One has set off an upsurge in China especially in hospitals, the academic level of papers published in PLoS One, and how to correctly judge the SCI-covered papers published by hospitals. Methods Papers published in PLoS One by hospitals in China were retrieved. The number of papers published in PLoS One by hospitals in China, the institutions that published the papers in PLoS One, and the num-ber of fund-supported papers were analyzed. Results A total of 9739 papers were published in PLoS One by hospitals in China from 2007 to October 2015, with an average cited frequency of 5.29.The majority of authors who published the papers were from affiliated hospitals of scientific research institutions and teaching hospitals of colleges and uni-versities.Of the 9739 papers, 87.78%were supported by funds from different foundations. Conclusion Nothing is strike about the academic level of papers published in PLoS One by hospitals in China with their average cited fre-quency lower than that (8.14) in our country. The SCI-covered papers published by hospitals should not be con-sidered as the only criterion in assessing the performances of staff in hospitals.
2.Methylprednisolone combined with puerarin in the prevention of spinal cord ischemia-reperfusion injury
Chinese Journal of Orthopaedics 2013;(2):186-190
Objective To investigate the effect of methylprednisolone (MP) combined with puerarin in preventing the spinal cord ischemia-reperfusion injury (SCII).Methods The model of ischemia-repeffusion injury was established by clipping the abdominal aorta of rats for 30 min.Eighty male SD rats were randomly and equally divided into 4 groups: the blank group in which the abdominal aorta was only exposed, the positive drug group in which intravenous MP injection (30 mg/kg) was conducted 30 min before the establishment of the ischemia-reperfusion injury model, the therapy group in which intravenous MP (10 mg/kg)and puerarin (30 mg/kg) injection was conducted 30 min before the establishment of the model, and the model group in which the physiological saline equivalent to the volume of MP in the positive drug group were injected into the caudal vein of rats 30 min before the establishment of the model.Ten rats were taken from each group and the homogenation of the spinal cord was used to test expression level of superoxide dismutase (SOD) and sodium-potassium adenosinetriphosphatase (Na-K ATPase). For another 10 rats in each group, the BBB scoring system was used to evaluate the neural function of the hind limb immediately after recovery from anesthesia,12 h and 24 h after reperfusion, and the spinal cord was obtained 24 h after reperfusion to observe the morphous of the spinal cord neurons. Results The expression levels of SOD and Na-K ATPase in the model group, positive drug group and therapy group 3 h after reperfusion were significantly lower than that in the blank group; the expression levels of SOD and Na-K ATPase in positive drug group and therapy group were significantly higher than that in the model group, and there was no significant difference between the positive drug group and the therapy group with regard to the levels of SOD and Na-K ATPase. The BBB score was better in the positive drug group and the therapy group than those in the blank group and model group.Microscope observation showed that the degree of injury between positive drug group and therapy group was equivalent, while each of them was lower than that in the model group. Conclusion MP combined with puerarin plays a great role in the prevention of the SCII.
3.Isolation and Identification of a Pesticide-degrading and Biocontrol Bacterium
Microbiology 2008;0(12):-
One biocontrol bacillus B3 was isolated from peanut rhizosphere, which showed a broad inhibition spectrum against various soil-borne plant phytopathogenic fungi. It was also found to be capable of utilizing beta-cypermethrin, chlorpyrifos and imidacloprid as the sole source of carbon for growth. The extent of degradation of them at initial concentration of 100 mg/L was 54.42%, 57.44% and 49.24% respectively within 7 days. Strain B3 was identified as Paenibacillus polymyxa based on morphological, physiological-biochemical properties, and 16S rRNA sequence analysis. This study indicated that strain B3 had potential application in biological control and soil bioremediation.

This article reviewed the correlation between obesity and osteoporosis, and summarized the effects and potential mechanism of ω-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids on fat metabolism and bone metabolism from both animal experiments and epidemiological studies.
9.Mechanism of adrenomedullin gene expression upregulated by endotoxin in vascular endothelial cells
Chinese Journal of Pathophysiology 2000;0(12):-
AIM: To investigate effect of endotoxin on adrenomedulin(ADM) gene transcription in vascular endothelial cells. The role of p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase (p38 MAPK) signaling pathway was also observed.METHODS: The effect of endotoxin in the presence or absence of p38 MAPK specific inhibitor SB203580 on the transcription of ADM in vascular endothelial cells ECV304 was evaluated by reverse transcription nest DNA polymerase chain reaction. RESULTS: Treatments of endotoxin (0.1, 1.0, 10, 50, 100 ?g/L) for 24 h increasea the ratios of ECV 304 ADM mRNA/? actin mRNA. The induction of ADM mRNA by endotoxin could be inhibited partially by 10 mmol/L SB203580.CONCLUSION: Endotoxin stimulated the transcription of ADM gene in vascular endothelial cells. The activation of p38 MAPK might be an important mechanism of ADM gene induced by endotoxin.
