2.Self-efficacy of newly-contracted nurses in a tumor hospital and the related factors

Objective To explore the self efficacy of newly-contracted nurses in a tumor hospital in Guangzhou and to find out the related factors. Methods By convenience, cluster sampling method, 333 newly-contracted nurses from a tumor hospital in Guangzhou were recruited in the study. The general self-efficacy scale (GSES) and a self-designed demographic questionnaire were used to look into their self-efficacy and explore the related factors. Results The average score of self efficacy was (2.67 ± 0.41). The level of self-efficacy was related to education and the type of hospital for internship. Nurse with bachalor degree and graduated from comprehensive hospital had higher self-efficacy. Conclusions The self efficacy of the newly contracted nurses is intermediate. The education level and the type of hospital for internship both influence the level of self efficacy. The special hospitals should strengthen the teaching and training of students and lay stress on developing their capacity to prepare them for the job.
3.Laparoscope-assisted radical gastrectomy for gastric cancer:a report of 54 cases

Objective To explore the safety and feasibility of laparoscope-assisted radical gastrectomy for gastric cancer.Methods Fifty-four cases of gastric cancer were selected to carry out laparoscope-assisted radical gastrectomy,including 12 radical total gastrectomies,18 proximal gastrectomies,and 24 distal gastrectomies.Lymphonodes were dissected by D1 in 29 cases and D2 in 25 cases.Results All of the 54 operations were performed successfully.The average operative time was(164.4?38.7)min in total gastrectomies,(142.4?35.2)min in proximal gastrectomies,and(149.1?35.4)min in distal gastrectomies.The mean volume of bleeding was(164.6?80.1)mL in total gastrectomies,(149.5?94.7)mL in proximal gastrectomies,and(152.5?87.7)mL in distal gastrectomies.The average number of lymphonodes dissected was 19.1?6.5 per case.After operation,the mean time of passage of gas via anus was(3.7? 0.7)d,and the mean length of hospital stay was(9.2?1.7)d.Two cases experienced postoperative anastomotic bleeding,and was controlled by conservative treatment.No other complications,such as anastomotic leakage,anastomotic obstruction,or duodenal stump leakage were experienced.Conclusions This results reveal that laparoscope-assisted radical gastrectomy is safe and feasible for gastric cancer.As long as the principles of cancer surgery are strictly followed,it can maintain radical tumor removal and exhibit the character of minimal invasion.
4.Therapeutic Effect of Extracts from Cordyceps militaris on Membranous Nephritis Model Rats

OBJECTIVE: To explore the therapeutic effect of the extracts from Cordyceps militaris on membraneous nephritis model rats.METHODS: Membraneous nephritis model rats were induced by using cationic bovine serum albumin.3 weeks later,urine protein quantity(24 h) was determined weekly;at the end of experiment,the hemorheology,serum creatinine(Scr),blood urea nitrogen(BUN) and serum lipid level were examined and the therapeutic efficacy was evaluated.RESULTS:C.militaris-treatment reduced urine protein quantity(24 h),blood viscosity,serum creatinine(Scr),blood urea nitrogen(BUN) and serum lipid level and delayed the progress of renal lesions.CONCLUSION: Extracts of C.militaris has the action of improving renal function.

8.Producing Ad-IFN gamma by suspension culture of HEK293 cells in a disposable bioreactor.

Adenovirus vectors are promising delivery systems for gene therapy. We established a new process for clinic trial of recombinant adenovirus vectors using a novel disposable bioreactor. The suspension HEK293 cells were inoculated into a 5 L disposable bioreactor with parameters control of pH, DO, agitation and temperature. After 6 days of a fed-batch culture, the final cell density reached 2.0 x 10(6) cells/mL. The culture was infected with Ad-IFNγ at an MOI of 30. The harvest was performed at approximately 48 h post-infection and crude viral lysate was obtained after 3 freeze/thaw cycles and centrifugation. The maximum titers of crude viral lysate was 1.49 x 10(13) Infectious units (IFU) and the bulk product specific was 3,800 IFU/cell. Purified Ad-IFNγ by anion-exchange chromatography and the final recovery of infectious unit reached 35.9%. The result demonstrates that an efficient and stable process of producing Ad-IFNγ using a disposable fed-batch bioreactor is established.

9.Breast calcification plays a major role in breast cancer:form radiology assessment to chemical composition analysis

Breast calciifcation plays an important role in breast cancer in various areas, such as early-stage diagnosis, recurrence monitoring and prognosis prediction. However, the mechanism of breast calciifcations remains elusive. One proposed mechanism is based on an imbalance between the enhancers and inhibitors of physiological mineralization. Traditionally, the classiifcation of breast calciifcation is based on the assessment of morphology and distribution. These radiology features are closely related to pathology and biological behavior of tumor. However, chemical composition of calciifcations can provide us with more information about tumor status. Calciifcations could be divided into two categories according to chemical composition. Type I (calcium oxalate) is found in benign breast disease, while typeⅡ (hydroxyapatite) is found in proliferative lesions, mostly to be associated with malignancy. Moreover, carbonate concentrations in typeⅡ calciifcations is related to pathology grades. Despite emerging imaging technologies such as digital breast tomosynthesis, they are unable to yield any information on chemical composition of breast calciifcations and thus cannot provide a deifnitive marker for classifying benign and malignant lesions. Recent researches show that using Raman spectroscopy, the chemical information of calcification could be obtained non-invasively and might provide us with a better mode for calciifcation diagnosis in the future.
10.Significance of pre-B cell colony enhancing factor in diagnosis and treatment of neonatal sepsis

Sepsis is still a major cause of death among neonates and its morbidity rate remain high nowadays.Because of the atypical symptoms and extremely dangerous progress in neonatal sepsis,early diagnosis and treatment are requisite.But the unique biomarkers are lacking meanwhile.Recent study shows that PBEF influences individual susceptibility,severity and outcome in sepsis.This review synthesizes the research of PBEF in neonatal sepsis in order to provide the evidence of reliable biomarker to diagnose and treat neonatal sepsis in the early stage.
