Background: Hypertension is a major cardiovascular risk factor that directly contributes to coronary artery diseases, stroke, Congestive Heart Failure (CHF), renal failure and peripheral arterial disease. Hypertension is a major health problem in many countries. A number of important causal factors for hypertension have been identified, including excess body weight, excess dietary sodium intake, reduced physical activity, and excess alcohol intake\u2026 \r\n', u'Objectives: To study the frequency and risk factors of hypertension in An Lac Commune, Chi Linh district, Hai Duong province. \r\n', u'Subjects and methods: The cross sectional descriptive study was conducted in 1131 adults in An Lac commune on May 2005.\r\n', u'Results: General prevalence of hypertension is 18.9% (male: 19.2%, female: 19.2%). Hypertension is often seen in the elderly (>60:63.6%); blood pressure increasing along with advanced age. Only 30.8 percent of adults are aware of their hypertension and 31.8 percent of individuals with hypertension are on treatment. Salt intake, obesity \u2026were related to hypertension (Odd ratio: 2.1: 3.1; p 0.05). Dyslipidemia are also risk factors of hypertension.\r\n', u'Conclusion: The prevalence of hypertension in the commune is relatively high. 3.Primary determination of allele frequencies of D13S317 locus in Vietnamese population

The study of blood samples extracted directly from healthy people, who is Vietnamese and not relative, lives over the country. PCR technique and denaturing polyacrylamid gel electrophoresis were applied for determination of allele frequencies of D13S317. The primary results showed that allele frequencies of D13S317 locus was polymorphic AND, repetitive sequence unit of 4 nito- base which located on the long hand of chromosome No 13. The locus contained 9 alleles, 242-270 bp. The numbers of repeat units in population were 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15. The highest frequency at allele No 8, and allele No 7 had not appear in the observed samples.

5.Design and Implementation of Picture Archiving and Communication System Component in the Ubiquitous Environments.

OBJECTIVE: The recent medical treatment guidelines and the development of information technology make hospitals reduce the expense in surrounding environment and it requires improving the quality of rapid medical treatment. Moreover, MIS (Medical Information System) is evolved toward integration of medical IT and situation is changing with increasing high speed in the information communication technology convergence. METHODS: PACS Component in the ubiquitous refers to construct mobile and wireless system of hospital which has constructed in network environment. Because of RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) development in existing system, every staff can log on easily to MIS whenever and wherever. In this paper, RFID server and tag manager modified patient tag that allocated patient information database server (tag UID, no, name, password) using UbiU 13.56MHz kit in the environment. RESULTS: It is the main technology to implement automatic medical examination processing system. This paper provides a patient tag manager, PACS application component. In addition, designed and implemented database server's component server and mobile web server that recognized patient tag and medical data in the mobile environments. The component implemented client program of staff's PDA application that recognized medical data in the current server. The component decreased fewer patient examination time than conventional PACS, staff examined patient in the wards. This system implemented radiological information in the mobile module. CONCLUSION: This system implemented RFID patient card, and designed mobile PACS component that performed patient data based database environments, This component expanded PACS in the mobile web environment, and so reduced delay time of requisition, medical treatment, lab.

6.A Study on the Patient Location Monitoring System Based on RFID - RSSI.

OBJECTIVE: The location services has been an important research area in the U-Healthcare. The location services in medical environment can be implemented by Radio Frequency Identification (RFID), and Received Signal Strength Indication (RSSI) which is the location tracking method by RFID. In this study, we was designed the Patient Location Monitoring System based on RFID using RSSI method. METHODS: The RSSI method is a distance measurement method from reference points to object using the Friis's Principle and the Triangulation. The Patient Location Monitoring System was implemented by XML Data transmitted from the Positioning Server to the application. The Patient Location Monitoring System was designed by C# of Visual Studio 2005 and MS-SQL 2005 Express. RESULTS: The Patient Location Monitoring System had the location-tracking average error of 90.50cm, the standard-deviation of 13.34cm in Open-Space test. And, the designed system had the location-tracking average error of 163.24cm, the standard-deviation of 16.85cm in Closed-Space Test. Also, a patient waiting-list guide performance of the Patient Location Monitoring System had successes of 85~100%. CONCLUSION: In this study, the Patient Location Monitoring System, combined with both patient location-tracking function and patient waiting-list guide function, was validated by experiments in medical environment and this system can be applicable to patient management and further applications.

7.Study Methods to Find Disease Genes in Complex Diseases.

Most common diseases are complex genetic traits. Identifying the genes that underlie the variation in the diseases has been challenging. Two major approaches have been used to map genetic variants that influence disease risk: linkage analysis and association study. Linkage analysis tests for the co-segregation of a marker and disease phenotype within a pedigree, whereas association study tests for differences in marker allele frequencies between patients and a control population. Linkage analysis is applied without any prior knowledge of the biological basis of the disease. In association study, genes with a known function with the potential to influence the disease phenotype are investigated for a direct role in disease. No single method is sufficient. A multi-strategy approach to the mapping of complex diseases is required. We review the different types of genetic studies to find genes for complex genetic traits.

9.Allele frequencies of HLA class I and HLA class II in the Vietnamese Kinh ethnic

Experimental study for extracting DNA and determining HLA of I and II class by PCR-SSO was carried out. The percentage of allele frequency was estimated in comparison with that was reported in 1991 conference. Result showed no difference in locus A and DR12. Locus A demonstrated the highest percentage with some differences of 2-4%. In Locus DR12 with the highest percentage of differences of 3%. Highest difference was estimated in locus B. In this study, B15 has 25.7% (in comparing with 0%). B62 had 0% (in comparing with 10.1%), B75 6.7% (in comparing with 0%), B7 12.2% (in comparing with 0%)

10.Allele Sequence Variations of GABARB1 Locus and Allele Frequency by New Allele Designation in Korean.

To determine allele frequency of GABARB1 Jcus in Korean, first, we sequenced each allele, which was amplified with primers that published before. We found mismatching between allele number and size of each allele when 'GATA' repeats are counted. The sequence revealed new 'GATA' repeat. So we had made new allele designation with total number of in 176 Korean people. The heterozygosity this locus was 0.716 and mean exclusion chance (MEC) and power of discrimination (PD) were 0.433 and 0.845, respectively. In this study, we emphasized necessity of sequencing of 2-3 alleles, which have same size before setting up allelic ladder.
