OBJECTIVE:
To investigate the myeloid differentiation factor 88 (MyD88) expression in laryngeal carcinoma and its clinical significance.
METHOD:
Fifty-one patients with laryngeal carcinoma were collected, and all patients were confirmed by pathological diagnosis results. The expression of MyD88 protein was detected by immunohistochemical method in laryngeal cancer and its adjacent tissues to investigate the correlation among MyD88 expression, clinicopathological characteristics and prognosis of patients.
RESULT:
The positive expression rate of MyD88 in laryngeal cancer tissues was 68.6%, significantly higher than that in normal tissues adjacent to carcinoma of which positive expression rate was 11.8%; MyD88 positive rate had nothing to do with laryngeal cancer patients age, sex, differentiation and tumour location (all P > 0.05), but correlated with clinical stage (P < 0.01) and lymph node metastasis (P < 0.05). In addition, the study also found that the expression of MyD88 quantity was inversely proportional with the five-year survival rate. The survival rate of patients with higher expression of MyD88 was significantly lower than that of patients with lower expression (P < 0.05).
CONCLUSION
MyD88 may be an important participant in the pathogenesis of laryngeal carcinoma, MyD88 targeted therapy may improve the prognosis of patients with laryngeal cancer.

Objective To apply sandplay therapy in cerebral palsy children's parents for the psychological problems. Methods 40 parents of cerebral palsy children were randomly divided into experimental group (n=20) and control group (n=20). The experimental group accepted sandplay therapy once a week for 10 weeks, and the control group without any intervention. All the parents were assessed with Symptoms Check-List 90 (SCL-90), Self-Esteem Scale (SES), compliance questionnaire, Quality of Life Questionnaire-Core 30 (QLQ-C30) before and after the experiment. Results The scores of all the factors of SCL-90 were lower in the experimental group than in the control group (P<0.05), with the higher scores of compliance and self-esteem (P<0.05), and the high quality of life in physical function, role in work and social function (P<0.05) in the experimental group. Conclusion Sandplay therapy can be used to solve the psychological problems of cerebral palsy children's parents, and improve their compliance, self-esteem and quality of life.

OBJECTIVE:To establish the quality standard for Tongmai pill. METHODS:TLC was used for the qualitative iden-tification of Salvia miltiorrhiza,Angelica sinensis and Carthamus tinctorius. HPLC was used for the content determination of feru-lic acid. The column was Diamonsil C18 with mobile phase of acetonitrile-0.1% aqueous phosphoric acid (17∶83,V/V) at a flow rate of 1 ml/min,the detection wavelength was 316 nm,the column temperature was 30 ℃,and the injection volume was 10 μl.. RESULTS:The TLC of S. miltiorrhiza,A. sinensis and C. tinctorius showed clear spots and good separation. The linear range of ferulic acid was 8-80 μg/ml(r=0.999 8);RSDs of precision, stability and reproducibility tests were lower than 2%;recovery was 97.2%-99.6%(RSD=1.2%,n=6). CONCLUSIONS:The standard can be used for the quality control of Tongmai pill.

ObjectiveTo verify the efficacy and safety of conversion from cyclosporine (CsA) to tacrolimus (Tac) in renal transplant recipients. MethodsThe clinical data of conversion from CsA to Tac in renal transplant recipients were retrospectively analyzed. In 97 patients undergoing kidney transplantation, there were 62 cases of chronic allograft nephropathy (CAN), 21 cases of refractory renal allograft rejection, 8 cases of hepatic impairment, and 6 cases of gingival overgrowth and hirsutism. The patients were followed up with renal function, hepatic function, blood fat, pressure, glucose, acute rejection incidence, patients/kidney survival rate, and adverse drug reaction for 3 years.ResultsThe renal function of patients with CAN and refractory acute rejection was greatly improved after conversion from CsA to Tac treatment at the first year (P<0. 05) ,and steady at the 2nd or 3rd year. The conversion treatment could greatly improve the hepatic function of patients with dysfunction of liver, improve the gum hypertrophy and hypertrichosis results from CsA. The 1- and 3-year patients/kidney survival rate after conversion from CsA to Tac was 100 %/97. 9 % and 100 %/92. 8 %, respectively. The conversion treatment showed a significantly lower degree of plasma cholesterol, low density lipoprotein, triglyceride, and blood pressure (P < 0.05). Incidence of pathoglycemia, diarrhea or anepithymia, and tremor after conversion treatment was 13.4 % (13/97),2. 1% (2/97) and 5. 2 % (5/97),respectively. There were no serious pulmonary infection and tumor during the observation period. ConclusionThe mid-long term effect of conversion from CsA to Tac in patients with kidney transplantation is safe and effective.
