Objective To explore the differences between the conservative treatment and the operative treatment in the management of cervical spinal cord injury, and the timing of the operation. Methods The therapeutic effectiveness o f the 45 cases who were treated from October 1996 to January 2002 was analyzed. 21 of them underwent conservative treatment and 24 operative treatment. The corr elation between the therapeutic effects of the operation and its timing was expl ored. Results The myeloid functional recovery was poor in the patients who had b een treated with conservative means but good in those who had been given an oper ation. The earlier the operation, the more effective it could be, and the higher the probability of the myeloid functional recovery. Conclusions The operative treatment promises better outcome than the conservative treatment. To get the be st effects, the operation should be done within one month after the injury, for the longer the lapse between the injury and the operation, the worse the effect.

A gradient calculation module based on high performance DSP was designed to meet the needs of digital MRI spectrometer. According to the requirements of users, this apparatus can achieve rotation transformation, pre-emphasis, shimming and other gradient calculation functions in a single chip of DSP. It then outputs gradient waveform data of channel X, Y, Z and shimming data of channel B0. Experiments show that the design has good versatility and can satisfy the functional, speed and accuracy requirements of MRI gradient calculation. It provides a practical gradient calculation solution for the development of digital spectrometer.

Chinese Journal of Biotechnology 2009;25(9):1360-1365
The genus Rhodococcus is of considerable interest in recent years, stemming from their diverse applications in biodegradation, bioremediation, biotransformation and biosurfactant. Using Nocardia/Rhodococcus-Escherichia coli shuttle plasmid pNV18.1 as the backbone vector, we tested the driven efficiency of promoters Ptac and PlacZ of E. coli and Pami-1/Pami-2 of R. ruber in host R. rhodochrous ATCC 33278 by overexpression of nitrile hydratase. Results showed that the specific activity of nitrile hydratase per dry cell weight in engineered Rhodococcus strains driven by Ptac, Pami-1, Pami-2 and PlacZ was 7.5, 6.3, 5.3 and 1.8 times of that in the wild, respectively. It indicated that these promoters could be well recognized by RNA polymerase of Rhodococcus. We further expressed the beta-galactosidase reporter gene (lacZ) in R. ruber driven by promoter PlacZ. Results indicated that lacZ was an appropriate reporter gene for genetic or metabolic engineering research of Rhodococcus.

Chinese Journal of Experimental and Clinical Virology 2020;34(6):578-581
Objective:To retrospectively analyze the epidemiological and clinical characteristics of novel coronavirus pneumonia (COVID-19), and to provide evidence for its further prevention and control. Methods:The epidemiological history, clinical symptoms, pulmonary CT changes, treatment plan (hormone intervention or not), and negative conversion time of nucleic acid were summarized and analyzed in 43 COVID-19 patients. Results:All the 43 patients had clear contact history, among which the number of patients transmitted from conference microphone was the largest (13 cases). There were 2 cases of critical disease, 4 cases of severe disease and 37 cases of common type. The main symptoms were fever (30 cases, 69.8%) and cough (40 cases, 72.1%). Lung CT mainly showed single or multiple ground glass shadows (40 cases), which were all absorbed by the treated lesions, among which 28 cases had a transient aggravation of the lesions during the treatment. All the 43 cases were treated with integrated traditional Chinese and western medicine, 2 cases in critical condition were treated with non-invasive ventilator, and 19 cases were treated with low-dose hormone. The average nucleic acid negative conversion time was 13.28 days, and the use of hormones had no significant effect on the negative conversion time ( P>0.05). Conclusions:COVID-19 of common type is the commonest. Early respiratory support therapy is recommended for critical cases. Hormone intervention makes no obvious influence on the negative conversion time of nucleic acid. Close contact in a closed environment greatly increases the risk of transmission.

Journal of Medical Biomechanics 2018;33(2):E095-E100
Objective To explore the effect of different initial state setting on a valve simulation. Methods Two-dimensional structural models were established with the initial state of the aortic valve being partially closed in one model and fully opened in the other. The time-dependent load was applied to the valve and the vessel wall of the aortic and the ventricle sides. The finite element method was used to study the maximum stress, the length of the joint, and the contact force of the closed aortic valve under two different initial states. Results The stress and contact force of the aortic valve were relatively large at the closed position when the initial state was fully opened. The closure degree of the valve was low, and the variations in stress and closure degree were large during the periodic cycle. The stress and contact force of the valve were relatively small when the aortic valve was partially closed. The closure degree was high, and the variations in stress and closure degree of the aortic valve were small during the periodic cycle. Conclusions In the case of the aortic valve partially closed in the initial state, the stability of the calculation process and the closure degree of the valve were relatively high, which should be given more consideration in numerical simulation. The results can be used to study the mechanical behavior of the valve and the biomechanical mechanism of the aortic root.
