Journal of Medical Research 2006;0(07):-
Objective To evaluate the efficiency of Flixotide in decreasing the incidence of asthma following bronchiolitis. Methods 23 children with brochiolitis received Flixotide daily while other 29 subjects not intervented as control. The intervention duration was 60 days, then followed up for more then 1 year. Results After following up over 1 year, only 3 cases in 29 patients with brochiolitis receiving Flixotide developed into asthma.However,24 cases in control group developed into asthma. The incidence of asthma was 13.04% and 82.76% in two group, respectively. Conclusion Flixotide may be an effective intervention to prevent the development of asthma after bronchiolitis.

The study of subjcts with T2DM (n=120) and NGT (n=106) in using the screening of PGC-1? gene for SNPs by PCR-SSCP and DNA sequencing showed that four SNPs(Thr394Thr、Gly482Ser、Thr528Thr、Thr612Met) in the PGC-1? gene were found in 50 Han Chinese type 2 diabetic patients.A Gly482Ser polymorphism of PGC-1? gene was associated with type 2 diabetes.[

Chinese Journal of Information on Traditional Chinese Medicine 2013;(12):42-45
Objective To provide reference basis for protection and sustainable utility of S. baicalensis by a large scale of nationwide resources survey of Scutellaria baicalensis Georgi in China. Methods On the basis of literature research, survey was conducted on geographical distribution, resources reserves, recovery and growth of the resources status etc. of S. baicalensis. Results The wild resources of S. baicalensis was wildly distributed in the emperate zone in north of China and the distribution was discontinuous. Large differences were showed between different populations in entironment, coenotype and plant morphology. The cultivated resources of S. baicalensis were mainly distributed in Shanxi, Hebei, Gansu, Shandong provinces and Inner Mongolia autonomous region. There were diverse cultivation models and differences existed in production and quality in different regions. Conclusion Destruction of the wild resources and unstable of the resource quality were two main problems of S. baicalensis resources. It was suggested that researches on quality formation and control should be carried out, and institutional guarantee was essential to protect and sustainable use the plant resources of S. baicalensis.

Objective To investigate the imbalance of T helper 17 (Th17) / CD4 + CD25 + regulatory cell (Treg) in HAM/TSP patients. Methods Enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) was performed to measure the levels of interleukin (IL-17) and IL-10 in CSF,and flow cytometry to determine the percentage of Th17 and Treg cells in peripheral blood of patients with HAM/TSP.Results There was a significant increase in the level of IL-17 [(4.58 ± 0.70)pg/ml vs (0.76 ± 0.17)pg/ml,P < 0.01] in CSF and the percentage of Th17 cells [(2.00 ± 0.64) % vs (0.41 ± 0.24) %,P < 0.01],but a decrease in the level of IL-10 in CSF and the percentage of Treg cells in peripheral blood of patients with HAM/TSP compared with the control group. The ratio of Th17/Treg cell (0.55 ±0.10 vs 0.06 ±0.03) in the peripheral blood of patients with HAM/TSP increased significantly compared with control group (t =12.11,P <0.01).Conclusions The imbalance between Thl7 and Treg cells may play an important role in the pathogenesis of the disease.

AIM: To study the change of intercellular adhesion molecule-1(ICAM-1) expression in intestine tissues of mice induced by LPS and regulatory effect of p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase (p38 MAPK) on ICAM-1 expression. METHODS: Protein and mRNA of ICAM-1 were measured using Western blotting and RT-PCR respectively in intestine tissue of BALB/c mice treated by lipopolysaccharide(LPS) or LPS plus SB203580, a specific inhibitor of p38 MAPK. RESULTS: Compared with control group, the expression of ICAM-1 protein and mRNA was increased significantly by LPS stimulation in dose- and time-dependent manner. ICAM-1 expression reached peak value at 12-36 h after LPS stimulation. 20.0 mg/kg of LPS could induce the maximum of ICAM-1 expression. Pretreatment of mice with SB203580 for 30 min could inhibit significantly LPS-induced expression of ICAM-1 protein and mRNA expression in mouse intestine tissues. CONCLUSIONS: These data highlight that LPS could up-regulate ICAM-1 protein and mRNA expression in intestine tissue of mice in dose- and time-dependent manner, and p38 MAPK signal pathway plays an important role in ICAM-1 expression induced by LPS. It suggests that inhibition of p38 MAPK might be a useful principle for the prevention and treatment of intestine damage of endotoxic shock.

AIM: To understand the effect of osmotic agents on hyaluronan synthesis in human peritoneal mesothelial cells(HPMCs). METHODS: Cultured HPMCs were stimulated with 90 mmol/L glucose(HG), 30 mmol/L glucose(LG), 5% polyglucose(PG) and 90 mmol/L mannitol. Extracellular cell coats were examined using particle exclusion assay, the expressions of hyaluronan synthase 2 and 3(HAS-2 and HAS-3) mRNA in HPMCs were measured by reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR). The concentration of hyaluronan in cultured medium was measured by hyaluronan radio-immunoassay kits. RESULTS: HAS-2 mRNA expressions in the four experimental experimental groups were significantly higher than that of the control group. However, only HG enhanced HAS-3 mRNA expression. The sizes of the extracelluar coat in the four experimental groups were not significantly different from that of the control. In addition, hyaluronan concentrations were significantly higher in the four experimental groups as compared with the control group. The hyaluronan concentration in HG group was much higher than that of the LG, PG and mannitol groups. CONCLUSIONS: Although polyglucose increased HAS-2 mRNA expression, it tended to have no effect on HAS-3 mRNA in HPMCs. This result implies that polyglucose might be more biocompatible to peritoneum in peritoneal dialysis as compared with hypertonic glucose.

ObjectiveTo study the operative procedure and effect of anastomostic pseudoaneurysm(APA). Methods Eleven patients with APA were treated surgically. The diagnosis of APA in all the patients was comfirmed by angiography and ultras onic examination. A small rupture leading to APA was repaired by lateral arteri orrhaphy using autologous vein patch in 4 cases; the APA caused by a big rupture of anastomosis, resection of the pseudoaneurysm and interposition o f a PTFE or antologous vein were used in 7 cases.Results10cas es were followed -up for 5-38 months (mean19.6 months),and 1case loss of follow-up.9 cases recovered to be normal in activities and works, only 1 ca se had nerve paralysis of the affect extremity caused by popliteal artery APA compression . All the cases have good blood perfusion of the extremities wit hout recurrence. Conclusions APA should be treated by surgery. During operation control blood vessels effectively and remove the pathological changetissues completely are important, and reasonable application of antibi otics and antithrombotic agents are the guarantee of getting successful results .
