Although breast feeding has long been proved to be the best way tor infant feeding, for many reasons, however, the number of breast-fed infants were always fewer than those of artiticially or mixed fed ones either in urban or in rural, e.g. it was found that only 35.7% of infants aged 4 months in Shanghai were breast-fed in 1980. Therefore manufacturing some kinds of humanized milk for improving infant nutrition seems necessary.A humanized milk powder was manufactured in Hongyuan Powdered Milk Factory. For testing its suitability for infant nutrition, a feeding experiment in infants was conducted in our laboratory in spring 1982.75 healthy babies aged 1-5 months were equally randomly assigned into three groups, i. e. humanized milk group, breast feeding group, and cow's milk group. The other food supplements except the milks were same in all groups. All the babies were subjected to anthropometric examination and blood hemoglobin determination before and after the 3 months' experimental period.Experimental results showed that there was no significant difference between the three groups either in growth and development or in blood hemoglobin level. In addition, Hongyuan humanized milk powder was also found to be more digestible and acceptable for the majority of the tested infants.

DNA marked-assisted selection of medicinal plants accelerated the breeding and promotion of new cultivars, and guaranteed the healthy development of Chinese medicinal materials industry. The first disease-resistant cultivar of notoginseng, namely "Miaoxiang Kangqi 1", served as the object of study. We evaluated the Kangqi's resistance of seeds, seedlings and root against the pathological bacteria (Fusarum oxysporum) of root rot. Compared to the traditional cultivars, the disease index of notoginseng seeds declined by 52.0% after inoculation for seven days; the death rate of seedlings and disease index of root respectively decreased by 72.1% and 62.4% after inoculation for 25 days. Additionally, the growth inhibition ratio of notoginseng seeds and seedlings declined after inoculation. The seeds, seedlings and roots of "Miaoxiang Kangqi 1" showed significantly resistant to root rot. The evaluation of disease-resistance of Kangqi provided the basis for the popularization of new cultivar and guaranteed the favoring conduct of notoginseng pollution-free cultivation.

In this study, the Geographic Information System for Global Medicinal Plants (GMPGIS) was used to assess the global production and ecological adaptation of Panax notoginseng. Based on climate factors and soil types of P.notoginseng from 326 sampling sites, which cover both traditional and current major producing regions, as well as on the results of the ecological similarity computing analysis, we obtained the maximum ecological similarity areas for P.notoginseng worldwide. The results indicated that China was the most suitable ecological and cultivated area globally for P.notoginseng, accounting for more than 70% of the total cultivated area in the world. The United States, Brazil, Portugal, and other 22 countries also had a small amount of potential suitable producing area. China has eight potential suitable producing provinces, including Yunnan, Fujian, Guangxi, Guizhou, etc. The prediction is consistent with the new district of P.notoginseng reported in recent years, which verifies the accuracy of the prediction of GMPGIS. We conducted a literature analysis on resource regeneration and quality ecology on P.notoginseng, and summarized the cultivation, wild tending models, and effects of environmental factors on the quality of P. notoginseng. The results provide scientific basis for selection of P.notoginseng, as well as the introduction, cultivation, and production of P. notoginseng worldwide.

BACKGROUND: Current oral restoration membranes are expensive with a potential risk of zoonotic virus, so new membranes are in need. OBJECTIVE: To prepare fish skin acellular dermal matrix and evaluate its efficiency of decellularization, biomechanical properties and biocompatibility, in order to explore its feasibility as an oral restoration membrane. METHODS: The skin of Astroconger Myriaster was harvested to prepare acellular dermal matrix by decellularization via a combination of physical method and chemical and biological reagents. The micromorphology of the material was observed under scanning electron microscope. Tissue composition was analyzed by hematoxylin-eosin, Masson and PAS staining. The DNA content was detected using a kit. The biocompatibility was evaluated through cytotoxicity and animal skin stimulation tests. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: The prepared acellular dermal matrix: (1) was white or light yellow, with strength and toughness; (2) exhibited a double-layered structure composed of a dense layer and a loose layer; (3) was mostly composed of collagen without PAS positive substance, showing good decellularization; (4) had a significantly lower DNA content than natural fish skin and commercial oral restoration membrane; and (5) possessed good biocompatibility, with very low cytotoxicity and no stimulation to the animal skin. Therefore, the prepared acellular dermal matrix of fish skin shows a potential in the preparation of oral guided tissue regeneration membrane.

Objective:To investigate the effect of calcification on the diagnostic accuracy of the quantitative flow fraction (CT-QFR) derived from coronary CT angiography (CCTA).Methods:A total of 244 patients (471 coronary arteries) who underwent both CCTA and invasive coronary angiography (ICA) for suspected coronary artery disease between 2019 and 2021 were included in the study. All analyses were conducted at the vessel level using CCTA and ICA images, and the morphological and hemodynamic parameters of all enrolled vessels were assessed. The group was divided into severe calcification (206 cases) and non-severe calcification (265 cases) based on whether the arc of lesion calcification was greater than 180°. Subsequently, the two groups were evaluated to the degree of coronary stenosis, the length of the target lesion, the length of calcification, the ratio of the length of calcification, the remodeling index of calcification, the quantitative flow fraction (QFR), the CT-QFR, and the distribution of the involved vessels. Pearson correlation analysis and the Bland-Altman scatterplot were used to analyze the correlation and consistency between CT-QFR and QFR values from different subgroups. The benchmark for coronary ischemia was QFR≤0.80, and the criteria for diagnosing coronary ischemia were CT-QFR≤0.80 and luminal stenosis≥50%, respectively, and the effectiveness of CT-QFR for coronary ischemia was evaluated by plotting the ROC curves in various calcification subgroups. Results:The degree of luminal stenosis, lesion length, calcification length ratio, and calcification remodeling index were substantially higher in the severely calcified group than in the non-severely calcified group (all P<0.05). The results of the Pearson correlation analysis demonstrated a significant association between CT-QFR and QFR in both the severe and non-severe calcification groups ( r=0.85, 95%CI 0.81-0.88, P<0.001; r=0.91, 95%CI 0.89-0.93, P<0.001); in contrast, the Bland-Altman analysis indicated that the CT-QFR and QFR measurements in the severely calcified group exhibited a high level of agreement, with a mean difference of -0.01 (95% limits of agreement -0.22 to 0.20) for measurements in the severely calcified group and 0 (95% limits of agreement -0.15 to 0.16). The specificity, positive predictive value, negative predictive value, and area under the curve (AUC) for the diagnosis of ischaemic lesions by CT-QFR and CCTA alone were lower in the severely calcified group than in the non-severely calcified group, but the difference in AUC between the two groups for CT-QFR was not statistically significant ( P>0.05), and the difference in AUC for the morphological assessment of CCTA was statistically significant. The diagnostic effectiveness of CCTA alone was considerably worse than the specificity and AUC of CT-QFR for the various calcified subgroups for the diagnosis of ischemic lesions (all P<0.001). Conclusions:Severe calcification somewhat affected the diagnosis of ischaemic lesions by CT-QFR, but there was still a high correlation and concordance between CT-QFR and QFR within the severely calcified group, and the diagnostic efficacy was significantly better than that assessed by CCTA morphology alone.

DNA marker-assisted selection of medicinal plants is based on the DNA polymorphism, selects the DNA sequences related to the phenotypes such as high yields, superior quality, stress-resistance and so on according to the technologies of molecular hybridization, polymerase chain reaction and high-throughput sequencing, and assists the breeding of new cultivars. This study bred the first disease-resistant cultivar of notoginseng "Miaoxiang Kangqi 1" using the technology of DNA marker-assisted selection of medicinal plants and systematic breeding. The disease-resistant cultivar of notoginseng contained 12 special SNPs based on the analysis of Restriction-site Associated DNA Sequencing (RAD-Seq). Among the SNP (record_519688) was related to the root rot-resistant characteristics, which indicated this SNP could serve as genetic markers of disease-resistant cultivars and assist the systematic breeding. Compared to the conventional cultivated cultivars, the incidence rate of root-rot and rust-rot in notoginseng seedlings decreased by 83.6% and 71.8%, respectively. The incidence rate of root-rot respectively declined by 43.6% and 62.9% in notoginseng cultivation for 2 and 3 years compared with those of the conventional cultivated cultivars. Additionally, the potential disease-resistant groups were screened based on the relative SNP, and this model enlarged the target groups and advanced the breeding efficiency. DNA marker-assisted selection of medicinal plants accelerated the breeding and promotion of new cultivars, and guaranteed the healthy development of Chinese medicinal materials industry.
