2.Clinical Observations on Microinvasive Thread Embedding for the Treatment of Neck Pain Due to Cervical Spondylosis

Objective To investigate the therapeutic effect of microinvasive PGLA thread embedding on neck pain due to cervical spondylosis. Method One hundred and five cervical spondylosis patients with complaints of neck pain were randomly allocated to three groups, 35 cases each. The thread embedding group received PGLA thread embedding therapy;the control group, acupuncture with thread-embedding needles (without thread embedding);the acupuncture group, conventional acupuncture. Result There was a significant difference in the relief of symptoms and signs between the thread embedding or acupuncture group and the control group (P<0.05). There were statistically significant pre-/post-treatment differences in the VAS score and the PPI score in the thread embedding and acupuncture groups (P<0.05). There were statistically significant post-treatment differences in the above scores between the thread embedding or acupuncture group and the control group (P<0.05). The total efficacy rate was 17.1% in the control group, 77.1%in the acupuncture group and 94.3%in the thread embedding group. The total efficacy rate was significantly higher in the thread embedding group than in acupuncture and control groups. Conclusion The therapeutic effect on neck pain due to cervical spondylosis is produced by PGLA thread stimulation of the acupoints and not by simple injurious stimulation with thread-embedding needles. PGLA thread embedding has a marked therapeutic effect on neck pain due to cervical spondylosis.
3.Influences of stemona alkaloids on esterase isozymes activities and glycogen content in Oncomelania hupensis

Objective To observe the influences of stemona alkaloids on esterase isozymes activities and glycogen content of Oncomelania hupensis in order to explore the molluscicidal mechanism of stemona alkaloids.Methods O.hupensis snails were immersed in the liquid of stemona alkaloids at the concentration of 6.5 mg/L(72 h LC50),the surviving ones were picked out and sampled after being immersed for 12,24,48,72,96 h,then PAGE and anthrone colorimetry methods were used to observe the changes of liver esterase isozymes activities and tissue glycogen content of O.hupensis during the immersion period.A group of snails immersed in de-chlorinous water served as control.Results Esterase isozymes activities firstly increased,and then decreased until almost lost completely during the 96 h immersion period.Meanwhile,glycogen content gradually decreased as the immersion time extended.After being immersed for 96 h,glycogen content decreased by 72.00% compared with the control group.Conclusion Stemona alkaloids could inhibit the viability of O.hupensis by causing decrease of esterase isozymes activities and glycogen content.
4.Efficacy of Micro-invasive Thread-embedding for Allergic Rhinitis and Evaluation of the Quality of Life

ObjectiveTo evaluate the clinical efficacy of micro-invasive thread-embedding in treating allergic rhinitis.Method Sixty eligible patients were randomized into a control group and a thread-embedding group. Thecontrol group was intervened by Budesonide nasal spray, while the thread-embedding group was by micro-invasive thread-embedding in addition to the nasal spray. The therapeutic efficacy was evaluated after 2-month treatment.ResultThe symptom score and symptom-sign global score were decreased significantly in both groups after intervention (P<0.05), the improvement of stuffy nose and running nose and the global score of the thread-embedding group were significantly superior to that of the control group (P<0.05); the quality of life scores were markedly improved in both groups after intervention (P<0.05), and the improvement of non-nasal/eye symptoms, actual symptoms, and nasal symptoms, as well as the global score in the thread-embedding group were superior to that in the control group (P<0.05); the total effective rate was 96.7% in the thread-embedding group, significantly higher than 66.7% in the control group (P<0.01).ConclusionMicro-invasive thread-embedding can produce a content efficacy in treating allergic rhinitis, and can enhance the quality of life.
6.Neuroprotection of ligustrazine hydrochloride combined with bone marrow mesenchymal stem cell transplantation in rats with spinal cord injury

BACKGROUND:Ligustrazine hydrochloride which promotes nerve repair can be applied to the treatment of nervous system injury. OBJECTIVE:To investigate the effect of ligustrazine hydrochloride combined with bone marrow mesenchymal stem cels transplantation on electrophysiological property and hindlimb function of rats with spinal cord injury. METHODS:T9 spinal cord transection injury models were made in rats using Alen’s method, and then rat models were randomized into three groups: rats in control group received tail vein injection of culture solution; rats in cel transplantation group underwent bone marrow mesenchymal stem cel transplantationvia the tail vein; rats in combined group were subjected to the tail vein injection of ligustrazine hydrochloride and bone marrow mesenchymal stem cels that lasted for 4 hours. At 1, 2, 4, 6, 8 weeks after modeling, Basso, Beattie and Bresnahan scores and modified Tarlov scores were used to detect the motor function of rats. At 72 hours after modeling, RT-PCR method was used to detect the expression of Bcl-2 and basic fibroblast growth factor around the injured region. At 4 weeks after modeling, somatosensory and motor evoked potentials were measured for evaluation of neurophysiological recovery. At 8 weeks after modeling, horseradish peroxidase tracer was used to assess the regeneration of rat spinal cord nerve fibers; PKH-26 labeling was used to observe the survival and migration of transplanted cels. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:At 1, 2, 4, 6, 8 weeks after modeling, Basso, Beattie and Bresnahan scores and modified Tarlov scores were significantly higher in the combined group than the cel transplantation folowed by the control group (P < 0.05). At 72 hours after modeling, the expression of Bcl-2 and basic fibroblast growth factor around the injured region was significantly higher in the combined group than the cel transplantation group and control group (P < 0.05). At 4 weeks after modeling, the latencies of somatosensory and motor evoked potentials were ranked as folows: combined group < cel transplantation group < control group (P < 0.05); the amplitudes of somatosensory and motor evoked potentials were ranked as folows: combined group > cel transplantation group > control group (P < 0.05). At 8 weeks after modeling, horseradish peroxidase-labeled pyramidal cels in the cel transplantation group and combined group showed apparent crossing signs; the number of PKH-26-positive cels and horseradish peroxidase-positive cels was the most in the combined group folowed by the cel transplantation group, and was the least in the control group (P < 0.05). These findings indicate that ligustrazine hydrochloride combined with bone marrow mesenchymal stem cels transplantation can facilitate nerve cel regeneration, promote the expression of Bcl-2 and basic fibroblast growth factor, and improve motor function in rats after spinal cord injury. 7.Immune Protection against H9N2 Provided by H1N1 Pre-infection in Pigs.

To explore the impact of the history of infection by the influenza A virus subtype H1N1 on secondary infection by the influenza A virus subtype H9N2, pigs non-infected and pre-infected with H1N1 were inoculated with H9N2 in parallel to compare nasal shedding and seroconversion patterns. Unlike pigs without a background of H1N1 infection, nasal shedding was not detected in pigs pre-infected with H1N1. Both groups generated antibodies against H9N2. However, levels of H1N1 antibodies in pigs pre-infected with H1N1 increased quickly and dramatically after challenge with H9N2. Cross-reaction was not observed between H1N1 antibodies and H9N2 viruses. These findings suggest that circulation of the H1N1 virus might be a barrier to the introduction and transmission of the avian H9N2 virus, thereby delaying its adaptation in pigs.

8.Levels of occupational external exposure of radiation workers in Hubei province from 2009 to 2018

Objective:To provide a retrospective analysis of the levels of occupational external exposure of radiation workers in Hubei province from 2009 to 2018 in a way to prevent and control its risks.Methods:The external individual doses were surveyed for 50 070 radiation workers between 2009 and 2018 by the effort of the Hubei Provincial Center for Disease Control and Prevention. Under the relevant national standards, the external radiation doses to radiation workers were conducted by using TLDs.Results:The average annual collective effective dose to radiation workers in a 10 years period was 1.93 man·Sv, the median of average annual effective dose of 0.14 mSv ( P25- P75: 0.06-0.30 mSv), and the average annual effective dose of 0.40 mSv. The annual effective doses received by 46 562 workers were less than 1 mSv, accounting for 92.99% of the total monitored workers. The annual effective dose varied dependent on occupational categories, showing a year-by-year decline trend and staying at a low level after 2012. The relative high radiation doses were seen in nuclear medicine and interventional radiology in medical applications, non-destructive testing and well logging in industrial applications, and other types of radiation applications. Conclusions:The average annual effective dose decreased year in a by year manner and kept at a low level. This indicated that the radiological protection measures taken during the 10 years ensure the health of workers. The continuous monitoring result suggest that much more attention should be paid to such categories workers as nuclear medicine, interventional radiology, non-destructive testing, well logging and others through improving radiation protection measures.
9.Correlation and path analysis of agronomic characters of Panax notoginseng.

OBJECTIVETo select the main directions and the objects in breeding the high yield of Panax notoginseng by the correlation and path analysis of main agronomic character of P. notoginseng.
METHODSamples in fifty-two districts of Yunnan and Guangxi were collected. The height of plant, the diameter of stem, the number, length, width, size of leaf and the weight of each root of those samples were measured.
RESULTThe greatest contribution to the weight of each root is the size of leaf.
CONCLUSIONThe size of leaf should be key to the high yield of cultribution of P. notoginseng and the size of leaf especially the width of leaf should be selected in breeding. At the same time, the height of plant and the diameter of stem should be considered.

10.Associations of pancreatic β-cell function and insulin resistance with microalbuminuria in type 2 diabetes

Objective To investigate the relationship of pancreatic β-cell function and insulin resistance with microalbuminuria in a cross -sectional study of patients with type 2 diabetes.Methods A total of 524 partici-pants with type 2 diabetes were recruited in this cross -sectional study.All subjects'height,weight,waist circumfer-ence and blood pressure were measured.Venous blood samples were drawn to measure fasting plasma glucose (FPG), fasting lipids,glycated hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c),fasting C -peptide (FPC).24h -urine was collected to measure urinary albumin excretion rate (UAER).Homeostasis model assessment of pancreatic β-cell function (HOMA -B) and insulin resistance (HOMA -IR)were estimated using fasting plasma C -peptide.According to HOMA -B quar-tile,the subjects were divided into four groups,including q1 -q4.According to HOMA -IR,the subjects were also divided into four groups,including Q1 -Q4.We assessed the crude associations across quartiles of these data with demographic and clinical parameters using a nonparametric test for trend across ordered groups (trend using Stata software).Multivariable logistic regression analysis was performed to assess the relationships of pancreatic β-cell function and insulin resistance with microalbuminuria in patients with type 2 diabetes.Results Trend test showed that UAER gradually reduced with increase of HOMA -B.The UAER values in subjects with q1,q2,q3 and q4 were 8.92(5.53 -28.65),8.55(5.52 -20.95),7.57(4.79 -19.83)and 7.84(5.23 -14.38)μg/min,respectively, and the trend was statistically significant(z =-2.1,P <0.05 ).With HOMA -IR increasing,UAER gradually increased.The UAER values in subjects with Q1,Q2,Q3 and Q4 were 6.73(4.85 -16.52),8.61 (5.2 -20.37), 8.31(4.88 -27.04),8.75(6.03 -25.21)μg/min,respectively,and the trend was also statistically significant(z =2.41,P <0.05).Multivariable logistic regression analysis showed that subjects with the highest quartile of HOMA -B had lower possibility of microalbuminuria than patients with the lowest quartile of HOMA -B (adjusted OR q4 vs. q1 =0.39,95% CI:0.20 -0.76,Wald =7.59,P =0.006).Subjects with the highest quartile of HOMA -IR had higher risk of microalbuminuria than those with the lowest quartile of HOMA -IR (adjusted OR Q4 vs.Q1 =2.00, 95% CI:1.08 -3.72,Wald =4.84,P =0.028).Conclusion Insulin resistance is associated with an increased prevalence of microalbuminuria in type 2 diabetes,while improved pancreatic β-cell function is linked to decreased rates of microalbuminuria for those patients.
