1.Protective effects of epinephrine on intestinal injury caused by lipopolysaecharide in rats

ObjectiveTo investigate the effects of epinephrine in intestinal injury caused by lipopolysaccharide (LPS) in rats.MethodsFifty SD rats were randomly divided into five groups ( n =10 pet group ):saline control group received intravenous infusion of 0.9% saline 2.4 ml/( kg· h) ;LPS group received intravenous injection of LPS 6 mg/kg;small-dose,medium-dose,and large-dose epinephrine treatment group received an intravenous infusion of epinephrine 0.12 μg/(kg· min),0.3 μg/( kg· min),and 0.6 μg/( kg· min)after LPS 6 mg/kg intravenous injection,respectively.Intestinal injury was evaluated by intestinal pathological examination.Blood samples were taken at 0,2 and 6 h after LPS infection,and the levels of serum TNF-α,IL-1β and IL-10 were detected by enzyme-linked immunoadsorbent assay.The pathological changes of intestine were observed at 24 h.ResultsPathological examination showed that LPS caused severe congestion,edema,neutrophil infiltration,hemorrhage and cell necrosis in intestine.Compared with LPS group,large-dose epinephrine ameliorated the damage of intestine.In LPS group,serum levels of TNF-α[ ( 1164 ± 145) ng/L],IL-1β[ (521 ±68) ng/L],IL-10 [ (303 ±20) ng/L] all increased compared with control group (P<0.05)at 2 h.Compared with LPS group,serum levels of TNF-α[ (576 ± 105) ng/L] were significantly depressed (P<0.05),whereas IL-10 was elevated at 2 h[ (424 ±29) ng/L] and6 h[ (245 ± 14) ng/L] (P<0.05)in large-dose epinephrine treatment group.Serum IL- 1β levels were unaffected by large-dose epinephrine treatment.Small-dose and medium-dose epinephrine could not reduce the pathological injury of intestine induced by lipopolysaccharide.Compared with LPS group,levels of serum TNF-α,IL-1β and IL-10 were also unaffected by small-dose and medium-dose epinephrine treatment ( all P>0.05 ) at any time points.ConclusionEpinephrine reduced the intestine injury caused by LPS by down-regulating pro-inflammatory cytokines production and up-regulate anti-inflammatory cytokines production.
2.Effect of Combined Acupuncture and Medicine on Learning-Memory Ability and Free Radical System of Hippocampus in Vascular Dementia Rats

[Objective]To explore the effect of combined acupuncture and medicine on learning--memory abilities,and free radical system of hippocampus in vascular dementia(VD)rats.[Methods]The 48 Sprague Dawley rats were randomly divided into control(1),VD model(2),VD plus removed olfactory bulb model(3)and XIU Three Needles(4),Eugenol(5),combined acupuncture and medicine(6)groups.Morris maze tests were conducted for valuating the learning and memory abilities.The contents of MDA,SOD and GSH-Px activity of hippocampus were detected.[Results]In comparison with group 1,the average escape latency and travel distance prolonged significantly in group 2.In comparison with group 2,it shortened remarkably in groups 4 and 5.No significant differences were found between groups 1 and 2.In comparison with group 6,it prolonged in groups 4 and 5.No significant differences were found between them.The MDA content of hippocampus in VD model group was higher than that of control group(P
3.DNA Damages in Peripheral Blood Lymphocytes Induced by Organic Extracts From Ambient Air Particulates With Various Diameters

Objective To explore the health effects of organic extracts from ambient air particulates with various diameters on the DNA damage of human peripheral blood lymphoctys. Methods Using a 5-stage air sampler, the ambient air particulats samples were collected in a residential area of Taiyuan city and were extracted with dichloromethane, acetone and methanol. The damage of DNA in human peripheral blood lymphocytes induced by organic extracts from ambient air particulates with various diameters at doses of 25, 50, 100 ,200 ?g/ml were detected by sigle cell gelelectrophoresis assay. Results The toxic efficiency of organic extraction of ambient air particulates increased with the decreases of the diameters of particulates. 4.Effects of epinephrine on early inflammatory cytokines and acute lung injury in endotoxemic rats

Objective To investigate the effects of epinephrine in sepsis-associated lung injury in rats. Methods Thirty SD rats were randomly divided into three groups(n =10 per group):control group received intravenous 0. 9% saline 2. 4 ml/( kg·h ); LPS group received intravenous LPS ( 6 mg/kg ); epi-nephrine treatment group received an infusion of epinephrine 0. 6μg/( kg·min) after LPS intravenous injec-tion . Blood samples were taken at 2 h and 6 h after LPS injection and the levels of serum tumor necrosis factor ( TNF)-α,interleukin( IL)-6 and IL-10 were detected. The rats were sacrificed at 6 h. The lung tissues and bronchoalveolar lavage fluid( BALF) were collected. Pathological changes of the lung tissues were observed under light microscope. Water content of lung,expression of TNF-α,IL-6 and IL-10 in BALF and in serum were detected. Results (1) The water content of lung in LPS group significantly increased compared with that in control group(85. 24% ± 5. 87% vs. 70. 19% ± 5. 87%) and epinephrine group(78. 00% ± 6. 41%) (P<0. 05). (2)Pathological examination showed that LPS could cause pulmonary capillary hyperemia,ede-ma,inflammatory cells infiltration. Atelectasis and alveolar edema were found in small number of lung tissue. Compared with LPS group, epinephrine ameliorated the lung pathological injury. ( 3 ) Compared with LPS group,serum levels of TNF-α and IL-6 significantly decreased ( P <0. 05 ) , whereas IL-10 increased ( P <0. 05) in epinephrine group. (4)Compared with LPS group,BALF levels of TNF-α[(78 ± 9)ng/L vs. (102 ±16)ng/L]andIL-6[(268±42)ng/Lvs.(347±50)ng/L]significantlydepressed(P<0.05),whereas BALFlevelsofIL-10[(210±23)ng/Lvs.(146±34) ng/L]elevated(P <0.05) inepinephrinegroup. Conclusion Epinephrine could reduce the acute lung injury caused by LPS. Its protective effect may be re-lated to decreasing the levels of TNF-α and IL-6,elevating IL-10 level.
5.Evolution of supervision policies on clinic in China

Clinics are a main institutional form for doctors to open personal business in China .The develop-ment process of clinic reflects the situation of medical staff free practice .This study summarized the supervision poli-cies on clinic in China since the founding of China and got three conclusions .The first one was the attitude of the practice of the clinic has changed significantly .The change include four stages which were authorization ( 1949—1957 ) , limitations ( 1958—1977 ) , re-authorization ( 1978—1996 ) , promotion and encourage ( 1997—) along with macroeconomic system reform and the changes of government's governance ideas on health sector .The second conclu-sion was that the government gradually raised awareness of the status and role of the clinic institutions in the health system over the past several decades .The third conclusion was the supervision policies became more meticulous .In the future , clinical institutions can be a useful supplement to public medical institutions in China for its development process and characteristics .

7.Effects of hyperosmolality on expression of urea transporter A2 and aquaporin 2 in mouse medullary collecting duct cells.

In this study, the effects of hyperosmolality on the expression of urea transporter A2 (UTA2) and aquaporin 2 (AQP2) were investigated in transfected immortalized mouse medullary collecting duct (mIMCD3) cell line. AQP2-GFP-pCMV6 and UTA2-GFP-pCMV6 plasmids were stably transfected into mIMCD3 cells respectively. Transfected mIMCD3 and control cells were cultured in different hypertonic media, which were made by NaCl alone, urea alone, or an equiosmolar mixture of NaCl and urea. The mRNA and protein expression of AQP2 was elevated by the stimulation of NaCl alone, urea alone and NaCl plus urea in AQP2-mIMCD3 cells; whereas NaCl alone and NaCl plus urea rather than urea alone increased the mRNA and protein expression of UTA2 in UTA2-mIMCD3 cells, and all the expression presented an osmolality-dependent manner. Moreover, the mRNA and protein expression of UTA2 rather than AQP2 was found to be synergistically up-regulated by a combination of NaCl and urea in mIMCD3 cells. It is concluded that NaCl and urea synergistically induce the expression of UTA2 rather than AQP2 in mIMCD3 cells, and hyperosmolality probably mediates the expression of AQP2 and UTA2 through different mechanisms.

9.Study on Acute Toxicity and Effect of Aconite Roots Based on Disease/Syndrome

This study was aimed to observe influence of disease/syndrome on the toxicity and effect of aconite roots, in order to reveal relationship among disease/syndrome, toxicity and effect. The mice model of cold syn-drome was establish by wind-cold stimulation. The pain model was established by intraperitioneal injection of glacial acetic acid. Then, LD50 and ED50 of analgesic effect were compared, as well as the therapeutic index (TI) of crude aconite roots. The rat model of cold syndrome was also established by wind-cold stimulation. And the rheumatoid arthritis (RA) model was established by intracutaneous injection of CII and CFA. TD50 of cardiac toxic-ity and arthroncus degree of prepared aconite roots were compared among the normal rats, RA rats, RA with wind-cold stimulation rats according to the recording of lead II ECG. The results showed that after wind-cold stimulation, mice and rats appeared with symptoms which were similar to Chinese medicine cold syndrome. Com-pared with normal mice, LD50 and TI increased, but ED50 decreased in the group of wind-cold stimulation after using powders of crude aconite roots. Compared with normal rats, TD50 of cardiac toxicity and arthroncus degree in-creased in groups of RA and RA with wind-cold stimulation after using prepared aconite roots. It was concluded that in the case of disease/syndrome state, the toxicity of aconite roots decreased, but its effect increased. It sug-gested that there is a significant correlation among disease/syndrome, toxicity and effect.
10. Study on the variation of visual evoked potential and its diagnostic value in children with optic neuritis

Objective:
To investigate the characteristics and clinical value of visual evoked potentials(VEP) in children with optic neuritis.
Methods:
The VEP of 33 children with optic neuritis were tested by NICOLET evoked potential instrument.The results were compared with those of cranial and/or orbital MRI and fundus examination, and the consistency with visual performance was analyzed.The correlation between visual sensitivity and VEP results was analyzed.
Results:
Among 33 children with optic neuritis, the abnormal rate of VEP in 52 abnormal eyes was 88.5%; the abnormal rate of cranial and/or orbital MRI was 38.5%; the abnormal rate of fundus examination was 62.2%; the abnormal rate of VEP examination was significantly higher than that of cranial and/or orbital MRI and fundus examination (
