Abstact:Aim To identify whether the petroleum e-ther fraction of Yueju pill (YJ-PE)could exhibit a po-tent rapid antidepressant effect and to investigate the underlying biological mechanism involved.Methods Fourty-four male KM mice were randomly assigned to five groups:the control group (saline group),low dosage of YJ-PE,middle dosage of YJ-PE,high dos-age of YJ-PE and ketamine.After a single drug admin-istration,we used tail suspension test (TST)to test the rapid antidepressant effect of YJ-PE in KMmice at 30 min.Another twenty-four male KM mice were ass-inged to three groups:control group,screened effective low dosage of YJ-PE group and ketamine group.We usd TST to assess these mice at 24 h post a single ad-
ministration.Western blot was performed to examine the expression of BDNF and TrkB in hippocampus of KMmice at 30 min and 24 h post a single administra-tion.Results An acute administration of YJ-PE de-creased the immobility time of KMmice in TST and in-creased the expression of BDNF and TrkB as soon as 30min post a single administration and lasted at least for 24 hours.Conclusion YJ-PE (low dosage)ex-hibits a rapid antidepressant-like potent,and the po-tent rapid antidepressant effects of YJ-PE are associat-ed with the up-regulation of BDNF and TrkB.

Aim Using chronic pre-pregnancy stress to establish a postpartum depression animal model, given a single YG,and acute ketamine was served as control, to explore the pathology of PPD and the anti-depressive mechanism of the YG on the PPD model on AKT/mTOR signaling pathway. Methods Thirty-two fe-male Balb / c were randomly assigned to two groups, the control group ( Control, Con) and the pre-pregnancy stressed group(Model,Mod) , which was subjected to 3 weeks chronic restraint stress. After the last stressor, the pre-pregnancy stressed group was housed with a male. After about 4 weeks later, the mice gave birth to pups. Then at 3 weeks postpartum, we tested the ma-ternal tail suspension test ( TST). Both YG and Ket-amine was single administered 24 hours before behavior test, with single saline for control group and PPD mod-el group. After TST,the mouse hippocampus were ex-tracted to detect the expression of AKT and mTOR. Results After 3 weeks postpartum, the model mice showed depression-like behaviors. Immobility in TST was significantly increased in vehicle groups(P <0. 01). Acute YG improved performance in the TST (P< 0. 01), which was similar to ketamine. And the PPD model mice group showed decreased phosphorylation of AKT and mTOR (P < 0. 01,P < 0. 01), compared to control group. A single dose of YG or ketamine normal-ized AKT/ mTOR signaling in the PPD model mice(P< 0. 01,P < 0. 01),( P < 0. 01,P < 0. 01). Conclu-sions Chronic pre-pregnancy stress can induce dams into postpartum depression and its mechanism maybe associated with down-regulating AKT/ mTOR signa-ling. Acute YG exerts fast antidepressant effect on this PPD model similar to ketamine, and its mechanism may be related to up-regulating AKT/ mTOR signaling in the hippocampus.

Then at 3 weeks postpartum,we tested the maternal depressive-like behaviors,including sucrose preference test,forced swimming test and novelty suppressed feeding test.Both YG and Ketamine were single ad-ministered 24 hours before behavior test,with single saline for control group and PPD model group.Results After 3 weeks postpartum,the vehicle mice showed depression-like behaviors.Reduced preference in drinking sucrose solution was found in SPT (P <0.01 ).Immobility in FST was significantly increased in vehicle groups (P <0.01 ).In NSFT,the vehicle group displayed a significantly increased latency and reduced unit of food intake compared with control group(P <0.01,P <0.01 ).Acute YG improved per-formance in the SPT(P <0.01),FST (P <0.01)and NSF (P <0.01,P <0.01),which was similar to ket-amine.Conclusions Chronic pre-pregnancy stress can induce dams into postpartum depression.Acute YG exert fast antidepressant effect on this PPD model simi-lar to ketamine.

Aim To observe the rapid antidepressant effect of Yuejuganmaidazao Decoction on postpatum de-pression offspring , and analyze its influence on the Akt and mTOR expression .Methods After postpartum de-pression model was established , the offsprings were randomly divided into the following groups: control group(CTL-F1,n =8), vehicle group (Veh,n =8) and YG group ( YG, n =8 ) .Veh group was treated with vehicle , YG group was treated with Yueju gan-maidazao Decoction(8.3 g· kg -1 ).Forced swimming test(FST) was measured 24 hours after single adminis-tration.The phosphorylation and total level of Akt and m-TOR in the hippocampus was detected by Western blot.Results The immobility time in YG group was significantly shorter than that in Veh group ( P <0.01 ) , and the expression of p-Akt and p-mTOR in the hippocampus was significantly increased ( P <0.05 ) .Conclusion Yuejuganmaidazao Decoction may rapidly alleviate depression-like behaviors of PPD offsprings through upregulation of Akt and mTOR ex-pression .

Objective To analyze the characteristics of published radiology original articles in China,and compare radiology research inboard and abroad.Methods According to the Contents of Chinese Science Core Periodicals in 2012,there were 15 comprehensive radiological core periodicals in China.All of them were retrospectively surveyed,and original articles published between October 2011 and October 2012were evaluated.The following information was abstracted from each article:radiologic technique used,radiologic subspeciahy,type of research,sample size and study design.At the same time,all the original articles from two top radiology journals,Radiology and European Radiology (ER) at the same period were evaluated.Chi-square test was used to compare the composition percentage inboard and abroad.Results There were 2784 original articles published in the 15 Chinese top radiological periodicals in total The most commonly used radiologic techniques were CT (1093 of 2784,39.3％),MRI (824 of 2784,29.6％) and intervention (402 of 2784,14.4％).Radiology and ER totally published 560 original articles.MRI (265 of 560,47.3％),CT (170 of 560,30.4％) and mixed techniques (63 of 560,11.3％) were most used.In China,as much as 2572 (92.4％) articles were clinical research,115 (4.1％) was basic research,9 (0.3％) was clinical and basic research,and 83 (3.2％) was non-basic non-clinical research.The sample size of less than 10,between 10 to 50,and more than 50 was 374 (13.4％),1448 (52.0％) and 847 (30.4％) respectively.339 (12.2％) Chinese articles belonged to perspective research,and 1211 (43.5％) were retrospective.For Radiology and ER,515 (92.0％) articles were clinical research,39 (7.0％) was basic research,3(0.5％) was clinical and basic research,and 3(0.5％) was non-basic non-clinical.The sample size of less than I0,between 10 to 50,and more than 50 was 30 (5.4％),225 (40.2％) and 252 (45.0％) respectively.230 (41.1％) articles belonged to perspective research,and 202 (36.1％) ones were retrospective.Radiology and ER articles used MRI more than that published in Chinese radiology journals (x2 =666.690,P ＜ 0.01).Clinical research was the most commonly used research type both inboard and abroad (x2 =0.116,P ＞0.05).Articles of sample size more than 50 abroad were more than that of China (x2 =44.895,P ＜0.01).Perspective research was used more abroad (x2 =275.667,P ＜ 0.01),and the main research type in China was retrospective.Conclusion Chinese radiology workers might need to do more perspective and larger sample size clinical researches.

This study aimed at exploring the mechanism of the rapid antidepressant effects of Yueju pill on depression of Parkinson's disease (DPD).The fast antidepressant effects of Yueju pill in this study was evaluated by behavior tests,such as open field test (OFT),tail suspension test (TST),forced swimming test (FST) and sucrose preference test (SPT) according to the modeling method of subacute DPD in the literature.In vitro experiment was implemented using PC12 cells.Moreover,the protective effects of Yueju pill on 1-methyl-4-phenylpyridinium (MPP+) induced neural injury with the engagement of cAMP response element binding protein (CREB) were expounded.As a result,it was found that the immobility time of the mice in the model group was significantly longer than that in the normal group in TST and FST tests (P ＜ 0.01),and the SPT ratio of mice in the model group remarkably decreased (P ＜ 0.01).In addition,the immobility time of DPD mice was shortened in the FST test after administering Yueju pill (P ＜ 0.05),while the SPT ratio was increased (P ＜ 0.01).Yueju pill took the effects on the third day after a single administration.The phosphorylation of CREB (p-CREB) in MPP+ induced PC12 cells was decreased in comparison with the model group,while the expression of p-CREB was up-regulated with the administration of Yueju pill (P ＜ 0.01).In conclusion,DPD was quickly mitigated after the treatment of Yueju pill,the activation of CREB signaling pathway and its neuroprotective effects may be the mechanism behind it.

Objective To evaluate the application of high-throughput shell vial assay in a clinical laboratory for detection of respiratory viruses from patients with ILI in Guangzhou between January and June, 2009. Methods Six hundred and fifty-two pharyngeal swab specimens were taken from ILI patents. Centrifugation-enhanced shell vials including 4 cell lines (MDCK, Hep-2, LLC-MK2 and MRC-5) were used for culture of respiratory viruses for 2-3 days. The cultures were identified by observation of cytopathic effect (CPE) , hemmaglution or hemmadsorption test as well as immunofluorescence staining. Results A total of 161 swab samples (24.69% ,161/652) were shown to have any one of the 5 common respiratory viruses including influenza A viruses ( 38. 51% , 62/161 ), influenza B virus ( 54. 65% , 88/161 ), parainfluenza viruses (4. 96% , 8/161 ) , adenovirus ( 1. 24% , 2/161 ), and respiratory syncytial virus (0. 62% ,1/161). The turnaround time was 2d for influenza viruses, 3d for adenovirus and parainfluenza viruses respectively. Conclusions (1) The shell vial method was effective, rapid and high throughout for the detection of respiratory viruses in clinical laboratories.(2)Influenza viruses were dominant in the swab samples from patients with ILI in Guangzhou between January and June with the highest appearance in the summer influenza B vires was the most common pathogen in patients with ILI in this study.

OBJECTIVETo understand the smoking-attributed mortality by inclusion of smoking information into all causes of death surveillance.

METHODSSince 2010, the information about smoking status, smoking history and the number of cigarettes smoked daily had been added in death surveillance system. The measures of training, supervision, check, sampling survey and telephone verifying were taken to increase death reporting rate and reduce data missing rate and underreporting rate. Multivariate logistic regression analysis was conducted to identify risk factors for smoking-attributed mortality.

RESULTSDuring the study period (2010-2014), the annual death reporting rates ranged from 6.5‰ to 7.0‰. The reporting rates of smoking status, smoking history and the number of cigarettes smoked daily were 95.53%, 98.63% and 98.58%, respectively. Compared with the nonsmokers, the RR of males was 1.38 (1.33-1.43) for all causes of death and 3.07 (2.91-3.24) for lung cancer due to smoking, the RR of females was 1.46 (1.39-1.54) for all causes of death and 4.07 (3.81-4.35) for lung cancer due to smoking, respectively.

CONCLUSIONThe study of smoking attributed mortality can be developed with less investment by using the stable and effective all causes of death surveillance system in Tianjin.

Objective: To understand the distribution of tobacco point-of-purchase(pop) activies 100 meters around the primary and middle school and the situation of selling cigarettes to students of Tianjin. To provide evidence for creating a smoke-free and healthy school environment. Methods: With the method of simple random sampling, 195 schools were selected to investigate the tobacco retailers within 100 meters around the school, and the nearest tobacco retailers was observed. Results: Totally 36.9 percent of the schools found tobacco retailers within 100 meters. There were 127 tobacco retailers, and no tobacco advertisements were found. The percentage of tobacco retailers within 100 meters of vocational schools, primary schools and middle schools was 33.3%, 34.1% and 40.4%, respectively. Among the 72 tobacco retailers observed, the proportion of tobacco retailers within 20, 21-50, and 51-100 meters from the school were 9.7%, 36.1% and 54.2%, respectively. The majority of tobacco retailers were grocery stores/convenience stores (55.6%), followed by alcohol and tobacco stores (34.7%). The proportion of tobacco selling points failing to set up the signs of "smoking harmful to health" and "not selling cigarettes to minors" were 81.9% and 86.1% respectively. Conclusion It’s concerning that the layout of tobacco retailers and the posting of signs, and the tobacco products for to minors in Tianjin. It is necessary to strengthen the surrounding environment renovation and publicity and law enforcement.

Major depression is a public health problem that seriously harms individuals and the society.But one of the major shortcomings of mainstream antidepressant is the delayed onset.Recent series of studies demonstrated that,from a variety of animal models and clinical studies,classic stagnation-removing formula Yue-Ju (Y J) pill has the advantage in rapid antidepressant efficacy,which is similar to the prototype drug ketamine.It has the mechanism of rapid and sustained enhancement of neural plasticity and individual difference in response to YJ pill.The evidence of Gardenia jasminoides (Zhi-Zi) as the monarch component of YJ pill's rapid antidepressant action has also been revealed.The further in-depth research on rapid antidepressant traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) is important for providing the scientific and reliable TCM strategies to treat depression.
