Objective To discuss the treatment of half hallux toenail flap transplantation for reconstruction of the distal segment finger defect. Methods Based on using the first plantar/dorsal metatarsal artery, or toe artery as pedicle to cut off partial toenail together with toe abdomen flap or partial toenail to repair 64 cases which include 69 fingers with distal segment complete and partial defect, the distal skin avulsion, skin tube in postoperative plastic, replantation failure and so on.Depending on the size of the donor foot wound use the first dorsal metatarsal artery, second toe artery, the perforating branch of peroneal artery or plantar metatarsal artery flap to cover the wound, and then observe the appearance of the finger and foot donor site after operation. Results The finger pulp was full and elastic, nail bed of the toe was well healing, nail groove which originated from the reconstructed nail fold was shallow, the appearance wos realistic, all feelings were recover,two-point discrimination was 4 to 5 millimeter, the donor toe was plump like the original one in appearance, patients were all satisfied with the reconstructed finger and the toe shape, after a follow-up from 3 month to 4 years. Conclusion Half hallux toenail flap transplantation is an effective way to repair the distal segment finger defect.

eEF1A2 might be a putative oncoprotein in HCC .eEF1A2 over-expression has noticeable effects on the HCC cell prolifera-tion enhancement , differentiation inhibition , and cell cycle acceleration through the G 0/G1 phase to S phase and G 2/M phases.

Objective To investigate concentration of plasma neutrophil gelatinase -associated lipocalin ( NGAL) and its clinical significance in ICU populations with sepsis. Methods Fourteen ICU patients diagnosed with sepsis and twenty-four patients with non-sepsis were enrolled in the study, and seventeen healthy adults were selected as healthy control.Blood samples were drawn from patients to measure NGAL, and Acute Physiology and Chronic Health Evaluation ( APACHE ) II and Sequential Organ Failure Assessment ( SOFA ) were performed, the outcome was recorded.Plasma NGAL concentration was measured by enzyme -linked immunosorbent assay ( ELISA) .Results On admission to ICU, the pNGAL concentrations of septic and non -septic patients were (131.4 ±116.4)ng/mL and (48.7 ±30.8)ng/mL respectively, which of healthy control was (39.07 ±12.74)ng/mL.The pNGAL was significantly higher in sepsis than non-sepsis and healthy control ( t=-3.280,3.313,P=0.003,0.021 respectively).Otherwise,no differences of white blood cell (WBC) count [(12.6 ±5.7) ×109/L vs (15.6 ±5.8) ×109/L] and SOFA scores [(7.7 ±3.3)points vs (8.6 ±3.4)points] were found in septic and non-septic patients (t=-1.554,-0.802,P=0.129,0.428).On the admission to ICU,areas under the receiver oper-ating characteristic curves ( ROC curves) of NGAL and WBC for predicting sepsis were 0.740 [95%confident inter-val(CI) 0.566,0.913,P =0.015] and 0.345 ( 95%CI 0.158,0.533,P =0.116) respectively. If pNGAL of 99.4ng/mL as the threshold for predicting sepsis, the sensitivity and the specificity was 50.0% and 85.2%. Conclusion The concentrations of NGAL in septic patients significantly increased compared with that in non-sepsis and in healthy adults. And the NGAL levels maybe another sensitive biochemical marker for predicting infection.

Objective To analyze the quality of life and its influencing factors among patients with occupational coal workers' pneumoconiosis (hereinafter referred to as "coal workers' pneumoconiosis"). Methods A total of 404 coal workers' pneumoconiosis patients diagnosed in Fengjie County of Chongqing City were selected as the study subjects using the convenient sampling method, and their quality of life was investigated by the SF-36 scale. Results The total score of quality of life of the subjects was (63.1±12.1) points. Their scores in the eight dimensions of physical functioning, role-physical, bodily pain, general health subscales, vitality, social functioning, role-emotional, and mental health subscales were lower than that of norms for Chongqing City and the nation (all P<0.05). The results of multiple linear regression analysis showed that the total score of quality of life of the patients decreased with the increase of age and stage of pneumoconiosis (all P<0.01). The total score of quality of life of patients living in urban areas was higher than that of rural patients(P<0.01). The total score of quality of life of patients who had left their jobs was higher than that of retired patients (P<0.01). The total score of quality of life of smoking patients and those with complications was lower than that of non-smokers and those without complications (all P<0.01). Conclusion Age, place of residence, smoking, stage of pneumoconiosis, work status, and complications of pneumoconiosis were the main influencing factors of quality of life among coal workers' pneumoconiosis patients.
