EPA exists wildly in artery vascular endothelium and could be activated by endogenously activated substances and regulate the vascular tone. The endothelium-dependent vascular relaxation mediated by EPA has been used for almost 20 years as an indicator of endothelium dysfunction. In many cardio-vascular diseases, EPA function was down-regulated. The pharmacological profiles of EPA could be characterized by muscarinic properties, as well as non-muscarinic properties in selectivity for agonists and antagonists and in binding characteristics. The endogenous ligand, receptor type and molecular pharmacological characteristics of EPA are waiting to be investigated.

Chinese Journal of Digestion 2001;0(04):-
Objective To study the changes of lactic dehydrogenase (LDH) and ? hydroxybutyric acid (HBD) in atrophic gastritis type A(AAG) patients. Methods Auto biochemistry instrument was used to detect serum LDH and HBD. Hemoglobin, vitamin B 12 and gastrin were also examined routinely. Results All AAG patients had elevated levels of LDH and HBD in serum and 60 percent of patients had a rise of indirect bilirubin. In the first day after supplement with folic acid and vitamin B 12 , LDH and HBD decreased simultaneously by 30% along with a decrease of indirect bilirubin. The changes of LDH and HBD were earlier than changes of reticulocytes. Conclusions Serum LDH and HBD rise significantly in AAG patients. This might be associated with in situ hemolysis of bone marrow. And it may be a good index for differential diagnosis between AAG and atrophic gastritis type B.

ATP-sensitive potassium channels (KATP channels) play important roles in various tissues under physiological and pathophysiological conditions by coupling cell metabolic status to electrical activity. The KATP channe l is a tetrameric complex of inwardly rectified potassium (Kir) and ATP binding protein (ABP). The Kir subunits form the channel pore, whereas ABP is required for activation and regulation. Both Kir and ABP are divided into different subu nits and the various Kir and ABP subunits “mix and match” to form KATP c hannels with different pharmacological and nucleotide sensitivities. This revie w focuses on the molecular structure, physiological roles, pathophysiological an d pharmacological properties of KATP channels in different tissues.

Objective To study the relationship between chemokines monocyte chemoattractant protein-1(MCP-1),reduced upon activation of normal T cell expressed and secreted chemokine(RANTES) and experimental allergic neuritis(EAN).Methods EAN models were induced in Wistar rats by immunization with rabbit sciatic nerves homogenate and complete Freund's adjuvant(CFA).Expressions of MCP-1,RANTES in the sciatic nerves of experimental rats were detected by immunohistochemistry technology at different time. Results The maximum MCP-1 positive cells in the sciatic nerves were detected at 9th d.The expression of MCP-1 in EAN group was obviously higher than that in control group at 9th,15th and 21th d(all(P

Chinese Journal of Neurology 1999;0(06):-
Objective To investigate which subfamily genes of T cell receptor (TCR) V? expand predominantly during the course of experimental allergic neuritis (EAN). Methods Using RT-PCR and in situ hybridization techniques, the expression levels of TCR V? 2,6,8,10,14 in the peripheral blood, lymph nodes, peripheral nerves of group EAN and those of the control group were compared. Results In group EAN,the expression of TCR V? 6?8 mRNA increased at the early phage(41.1?1.1 and 74.4?1.9 vs 25.9?1.5 and 26.1?1.6) and became more significantly at the peak of the disease, and resolved to normal at the recovery phage in the lymph nodes. But they amounted up gradually from the early stage to the peak, and then decreased a little in the infiltrating T-lymphocytes in peripheral nerves, the difference was significant. In addition, the expression of TCR V? 8 was notably higher than that of TCR V? 6 in the levels of mRNA. Conclusion The subfamilies of TCRV? genes which restrict the development of EAN due to recognizing the specific antigens are TCRV? 8 and TCRV? 6. T lymphocytes specifically expressing TCR V?6?8 genes are activated and clonally proliferated in the lymph nodes, and then migrate to the involved peripheral nerves, which might induce a series of immune lesions consequently.

Chinese Journal of Immunology 1985;0(03):-
Objective:To explore the role of nuclear transcription factor and the effect of nasal tolerance on EAN.Methods:75 male Wistar rats were divided into five groups: Group NS, EAN, EANL, EANM, EANH. The expression of IFN-?, TGF-?1, IL-10 mRNA and P65 protein were detected in spleen by using of RT-PCR and western blot. Results:The expression of IFN-? mRNA were the highest at early phase, those of TGF-?1 and IL-10 augmented significantly at recovery phase. In Group EANM and EANH, the severity of clinical signs and the infiltration of inflammatory cells decreased. IFN-? mRNA and P65 protein expression was lower than that in Group EAN, however, IL-10 and TGF-?1 mRNA increased markedly. At the same time, the expression of P65 protein were positively correlated with those of IFN-? mRNA, negatively correlated with those of TGF-?1 and IL-10 mRNA.Conclusion:NF-?B may play a vital role in EAN. Nasal administration of antigen may effectively prevent Wistar rat from inducing EAN in some degree, which may associate with the inhibition of NF-?B.

Chinese Journal of Digestive Endoscopy 2001;0(03):-
Objective To evaluate the clincopathological presentation of eosinophilic gastroenteritis(EG). Methods Seven patients with EG were studied. their clinical manifestation, laboratory tests, endoscopy, treatment and prognosis were analyzed from the hospital records. Results (1) The patients of predominant mucosal type were presented with abdominal pain and diarrhea, and those of serosal type with abdominal pain and bloating. Some accompanied with nausea, vomiting and low fever.(2) Peripheral and bone marrow eosinophilia were presented in all seven patients. Eosinophil counts waxed and waned with symptoms and dramatically responsed to steroid therapy.(3) ESR, C-reactive protein and fibrinogen were in normal range, and the level of IgG was decreased.(4) The ascites were exudative with eosinophilia.(5) Some patchy lesions such as erosion and edema in antrum, duodenum and cecum were presented in endoscopy.Biopsy showed predominant eosinophil infiltration in mucosa.(6) It responsed to steroid therapy, and all symptoms and eosinophilia would be relieved within one week.(7) Symptoms may relapse but with good prognosis. Conclusion Eosinophilic gastroenteritis should be considered in the differential diagnosis of unexplained gastrointestinal symptoms especially in the presence of peripheral eosinophilia. Mucosal biopsy would be helpful to establish the diagnosis.

Objective To study the differences of anal manometry among dirrhea-dominant(DD), constipation-dominant(CD) irritable bowel syndrome(IBS) and functional constipation(FC), and to evaluate effects of sex and age on these parameters. Methods Age-matched 18 DD-IBS, 14 CD-IBS and 30 FC patients were selected, and 18 volunteers as healthy controls. Anal manometry was evaluated with localized point pull-extraction technique. Results The pressure parameters in DD-IBS, CD-IBS and FC were no significantly difference from those in healthy controls, but the threshold volume of gas to induce RAIR was significantly larger(P
