1.Detection of BK virus in urine of renal allograft recipients and its significance

Objective To investigate the value of detecting BK virus(BKV)in urine of renal al- lograft recipients for the diagnosis and treatment of BKV infection.Methods Using polymerase chain re- action(PCR)method combined with DNA sequencing,61 urine samples from renal allograft recipients,30 u- fine samples from dialytic patients and 30 urine samples from healthy volunteers(controls)were detected. The results were compared among the 3 groups.Results The BKV positive rate in renal allograft recipi- ents was 36.1%,compared with 13.3% in dialytic patients(P<0.05)and 0.0% in controls(P<0.05). One renal allograft recipient who was positive for BKV developed ureteral obstruction.The BKV positive rate was 40.9%(9/22)in renal allograft recipients with rejection episode,compared with 33.3%(13/39)in the recipients without rejection episode(P>0.05);and the BKV positive rate was 36.0%(18/50)in the recip- ients with normal graft function,compared with 36.4%(4/11)in the recipients with abnormal graft function (P>0.05).Conclusions Renal allograft recipients are the high risk population who may develop BKV viruria.There is no correlation between recipients with or without rejection episode and BKV viruria,and also no correlation between recipients with normal or abnormal graft function and BKV viruria.Detection of BKV in the urine of renal allograft recipients is helpful in differential diagnosis of BKV induced ureteral obstruc- tion,and PCR method for detecting BKV DNA can be used to screen for BK virus-associated nephropathy (BKVAN).

AIM To examine the effect of metabotropic glutamate receptor ligand (s) 4 carboxy 3 hydroxyphenyl glycine 〔(s) 4C3HPG〕 on kainic acid induced epileptic seizures and brain damage in rats. METHODS Rats were given (s) 4C3HPG (500 nmol/rat) by icv infusion prior to kainic acid (KA) injection ip(10 mg?kg -1 ). The behavoir changes, electrographic seizure duration and histological alterations between different group of rats were compared. RESULTS (s) 4C3HPG markedly reduced seizures severity in response to kainate. 5.Continuous curvilinear capsulorhexis involving zonular area in manual small incision cataract surgery

AIM:To evaluate the efficacy and safety of large sized continuous curvilinear capsulorhexis ( CCC ) involving zonular area in manual small incision cataract surgery ( MSICS) .
METHODS:Totally 1 443 cataract patients ( 1 965 eyes ) underwent MSICS, in which large CCC up to 7-8mm were performed . The related conditions such as success rate of performing CCC, capsule rupture, corneal edema and visual acuity after surgery were recorded and statistically analyzed.
RESULTS:In total of 1 965 eyes, 1 942 eyes ( 98. 83%) had successful CCC, 15 eyes (0. 76%) had a radial tear which could not be saved when performing CCC, 8 eyes (0. 41%) had anterior capsule opened with a cystotome or a scissor due to capsule membrane calcification. No posterior capsule rupture occurred, and intraocular lens was transplanted in all cases. Transient corneal edema was noted in 36 eyes (1. 83%). One day after surgery, 1650 eyes (83. 97%) had visual acuity ≥0. 5, 1867 eyes (95. 01%) ≥0. 3. No unstable intraocular lens was noted in all cases.
CONCLUSION:Large CCC technique for MSICS is safe and reliable, not decreasing stability capsular bag and intraocular lens. It is of high originality despite zonular area is involved so that it is worthy of application in basic medical institutions.
6.A survey of iodine nutritional status in the key populations before and after the adjustment of salt iodine content in Yantai of Shandong

Objective To investigate the iodine nutritional status in the key populations before and after the adjustment of salt iodine content in Yantai of Shandong.Methods In 2010 (the pre-adjustment period) and 2014,2015 (the post-adjustment period),the changes in the residents' iodized salt,the goiter prevalence and urinary iodine of children aged 8-10,the urinary iodine of pregnant women,and the iodine content of drinking water before and after the adjustment were analyzed.Results The coverage rate of iodized salt and the edible rate of qualified iodized salt were 98.27% and 97.28%,respectively before the adjustment of salt iodine content,and 97.44% and 96.14% after the adjustment.The mean of salt iodine after the adjustment (21.96 mg/kg) was significantly lower than that of 2010 (31.45 mg/kg,t =66.29,P < 0.05).The goiter prevalence of children aged 8-10 by thyroid palpation was 0.92% in 2010,while it was 1.89% by ultrasonic in 2014,2015.There was significant difference in the iodine nutritional status of children in 2010 (191.0 μg/L) and in 2014,2015 (173.0 μg/L,Z =3.56,P < 0.05).The difference of iodine nutritional status in pregnant women between pre-adjustment (154.0 μg/L) and post-adjustment (130.4 μg/L) was also significant (Z =5.54,P < 0.05).The median of water iodine was 5.4 μg/L after the adjustment.There were 52 towns with medians of water iodine below 10 μg/L.Conclusions The coverage rate of iodized salt and the edible rate of qualified iodized salt have all met the national standard before and after the adjustment of salt iodine content.The mean of salt iodine during 2014,2015 is significantly lower than that of 2010.Before and after the adjustment,the goiter rates of children aged 8-10 are all below 5%.The adjustment of salt iodine content is more suitable to children aged 8-10 than to pregnant women currently.It is suggested that pregnant women eat more foods rich in iodine.

Objective To investigate the effect of human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) on proliferation of colony forming unit T-lymphocyte (CFU -TL)and its interference methods. Methods Normal CFU - TL culture was used as blank control. Normal CFU- TL culture system plus inactivated HCMV fluid as inactivated HCMV control. The dilution of 1:10,1:100,1:1000 were added into CFU -TL colonies culture system directly as infected group. Astragalus (AMI) and ganciclovir(GCV) were added into culture system with HCMV dilution of 1:10 as experimental group. By methylcellulose semi-solid culture, different concentrations of HCMV - AD1699 affect CFU-TL and interfered by astragalus AMI, GCV. CFU - TL were surveyed. SW872 cells were cultured in vitro with oleic acid and differentiated into mature adipocytes. The role of interleukin-6(IL-6)in the secretion of acylation-stimulating protein(ASP)in mature SW872 adipocytes was observed.The results suggested that IL-6 significantly inhibited ASP secretion into the media in a dose-and time-dependent manner in mature SW872 adipocytes.
9.Diagnostic value of serum procalcitonin and C-Reactive protein in cirrhosis ascites patients with spontaneous peritonitis

Objective To evaluate the diagnostic value of serum procalcitonin (PCT) and C-Reactive protein(CRP) in cirrhosis patients with spontaneous peritonitis(SBP). Methods 45 cirrhosis patients with SBP(cirrhosis, spontaneous peritonitis group) and 52 cirrhosis patients without SBP(cirrhosis, non peritonitis group) in the department of Gastroenterology, Anji people's Hospital from January 2010 to January 2015 were enrolled, the serum PCT levels of 2 groups were detected by immune luminescence, and the serum CRP levels of 2 groups were detected by latex enhanced turbidimetric immunoassay, then the differences between the two groups were compared. Results Compared with cirrhosis patients without SBP, the PCT and CRP level have significantly increased in cirrhosis patients with SBP, and the sensitivity and specificity of PCT were higher than CRP, also, PCT combined with CRP test was more sensitive and specific than tested alone. Conclusion PCT combined with CRP test have great sensitivity and specificity in the diagnosis of cirrhosis ascites patients with SBP, and can be considered as the early diagnostic indictors of SBP.

pH, affects of different alkaline materials KOH, K 2CO 3, NaOH, Na 2CO 3 on the growth, and NaCl, KCl tolerance of 29 isolates from the saline and alkaline soils in Xinjiang and Qinghai Provinces of China and 1 type strain were studied. Results showed that only a few alkaliphilic actinomycetes were Na +-obligately dependent, and K +-sensitive. Some alkaliphilic actinomycetes were CO 3 2- -sensitive, and NaCl, KCl could inhibit their growth. 4 kinds of alkaline materials had no affect on growth of alkaliphilic Nocardiopsis, and these strains showed high tolerance to NaCl, KCl. So it was presumed that only K + and CO 3 2- obligately dependent alkaliphilic Actinomycetes maybe exist in alkaline environments.
