1.Empirical research on the efficacy of medical colleges assessment reform

Course assessment is the important part of teaching and education.Double effects of improving the teaching and education quality can be achieved through emphasizing assessment methods,separating teaching and testing,building test bank and network exam,offering course of basic clinical skills as well as verified assessment methods,such as stage-based comprehensive exam,unified exam of the course,national entrance exam.The first pass rate of national medical practitioner qualification exam can be guaranteed through implementing these measures.
2.Different effects of imipramine and fluoxetine on depression and anxiety-related behavior induced by stress in adolescent rats

Objective To establish chronic stress model of depression in adolescent rats and to examine the effects of different antidepressant treatment on depression and anxiety-related behaviors.Methods Male Wistar rats were given 21-day chronic mild stress (CMS) during their adolescence (postnatal day 30~50, PND30~50).During stress period, rats were treated with fluoxetine (10 mg/kg i.p.) or imipramine (10 mg/kg i.p.), respectively.After stress, rats were tested for behavioral observation using body weight gain, saccharine test, open field and elevated plus-maze (EPM).Results Compared with control/vehicle (n=10) group, stress/vehicle (n=11) group displayed lower weight gain, saccharine preference index and the number of rearing in open field (P<0.05).Antidepressant fluoxetine, but not imipramine reversed anhedonia and the decrease of the number of rearing induced by stress.In addition, compared with early adolescent(PND29) rats, late adolescent (PND52) rats in control/vehicle group exhibited less open arm entries and open arm time, more closed arm time in EPM (P<0.05).Rats in stress/vehicle group showed more open arm entries and less closed arm time than controls(P<0.05).Both fluoxetine and imipramine had no effects on such changes.Conclusions Stress can induce the depression-like behavior in adolescent rats.Fluoxetine, but not imipramine,can effectively reverse anhedonia induced by stress.However, Both antidepressants have no significant effects on stress-induced decrease in developmental increment of anxious behavior during adolescence.These data suggest that chronic mild stress have complicated effects on depressive and anxious behavior in adolescent rats.
3.Evaluation of sexual risk behaviors and its characteristics among drug users.

OBJECTIVE:
To explore the characteristics of sexual risk behaviors and related factors of drug users in two enforced detoxification institutions in Changsha, China.
METHODS:
A total of 309 drug users from two compulsory detoxifications in Hunan Province were investigated using self-designed questionnaire, which included background information, drug use and sexual risk behaviors, STD/HIV related knowledge and permissiveness of sexual behaviors.
RESULTS:
Among 309 drug users, 279 (90.3%) had regular sexual relationships, and 85 (27.5%) of them had more than 1 regular partner. The prevalence of casual sexual behaviors, commercial sexual behaviors and multi-partner sexual behaviors was 38.2% (118/309), 25.9% (80/309), and 62.8% (194/309), respectively. And 74 (23.9%) had sex with both commercial and noncommercial partners. The major factors related to sexual risk behaviors were gender, marital status, the age of sexual debut, drug injection, the history of STD and sexual permissiveness.
CONCLUSION
Sexually risk behaviors are relatively common in drug users. To modify the sexual risk behaviors in this group is very important to prevent and control HIV transmission to general population.

4.Influence of protein intake in learning and memory capabilities and mammalian target of rapamycin expression in premature rats

Objective To study the influence of protein intake in learning and memory capabilities and mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) expression in premature rats.Methods Premature rars were randomly divided into three groups after weaning:preterm standard protein group,preterm low protein group and preterm high protein group.After weaning,three groups were respectively fed with standard protein diets (18% protein),low protein diets (8% protein) and high protein diets (30% protein) until the end of experiment.When rats were at the 6th and 8th weeks,they were performed Morris water maze test to assess the learning and memory abilities,and irnmunohistochemistry and Westem blotting were used to observe the mTOR distribution and mTOR protein expression in the hippocampus.Results At the age of 6 weeks,the escape latencies of the premature rats did not change significantly on the 3rd and 4th day of the experiment; the frequency of crossing the platform and the mTOR-positive cells in hippocampal CA1 and CA3 regions of each group showed no significant differences (P>0.05).At the age of 8 weeks,the escape latencies in finding the platform were shortened with increased training times for premature rats; the frequency of crossing the platform of high-protein premature rats was significantly higher than that in the other two groups (P<0.05); and the mTOR expression in the hippocampal CA1 and CA3 regions of high-protein premature rats was also significantly increased as compared with the other two groups (P<0.05).High-protein premature rats at the age of 8 weeks had significantly higher frequency of crossing the platform and increased mTOR-positive cells in the hippocampal CA1 and CA3 regions than those at the age of 6 weeks (P<0.05).Western blotting also indicated that the hippocampal mTOR protein expression was not significantly different in each group at 6 week-old; the mTOR expression of high-protein premature rats was significantly higher than that in the other two groups at the age of 8 weeks.Conclusions In the early growth and development process of the brain,mTOR activity might be inhibited in the premature birth rats,which can lead to impaired learning and memory abilities.After a long time of high protein nutritional intake,impaired learning and cognitive abilities of premature rats can get recovery,which may be associated with up-regulation ofmTOR expression.
