Objective To investigate the association between the level of advanced oxidation protein products (AOPP) in serum and the dialysate glucose exposure dose in patients undergoing non-diabetic maintenance peritoneal dialysis (PD). Methods In this cross-sectional study, the levels of serum AOPP were measured in 192 non-diabetic PD patients. Based on the exposure dose of dialysate glucose , PD patients were assigned into the high-dose exposure and low-dose exposure groups. Serum C-reactive protein levels were also measured and the rates of cardio-vascular disease (CVD) were recorded in both groups. Results The levels of serum AOPP were higher in the high-dose exposure group, as compared with the low-dose exposure group [(78.7 ± 15.6) mmol/L vs. (71.7 ± 14.8) mmol/L, P = 0.003]. The serum C-reactive protein levels [4.6 (3.0-11.4) mg/L vs. 3.0 (2.2-5.3) mg/L, P < 0.001] and the rates of CVD (53.6% vs. 35.8%, P = 0.014) were also higher in the high-dose exposure group. After multivariate adjustment ,the level of serum AOPP was independently associated with dialysate glucose exposure dose (β = 0.157, P = 0.031) and duration of PD (β = 0.164, P =0.043). Conclusion The serum AOPP levels are associated with the dialysate glucose exposure doses in non-diabetic PD patients. Minimizing the glucose load might reduce the risk of developing CVD.

China Oncology 2013;(10):829-833
Background and purpose:Metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC) patients with K-ras mutation won’t benefit in the anti-epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) treatments. Thus K-ras mutation analysis is mandatory before this treatment. There is controversy that K-ras mutation analysis should be performed on primaries or related metastases. The aim of our study was to evaluate the concordance of K-ras status between primary and related metastases tumors, thus investigate the validity and rigorousness of clinical K-ras testing. Methods:Seventy-six patients with confirmed mCRC treated in Fudan University Shanghai Cancer Center were enrolled. After DNA extraction and PCR amplification, tumor specimens with paired primary tumors and related metastatic sites were put into sequencing analysis. And the K-ras mutation status in exon 2 was assessed. Results: K-ras mutation was detected in 31 out of 76 primary tumours (40.8%) and also 40.8%of the metastatic sites. But discordance was found between primary tumor and metastasis in 15 cases (19.7%):8 primary tumors had a K-ras mutation with a wild-type metastasis, meanwhile 7 primary tumors were wild type with a K-ras-mutated metastasis. Conclusion:Our study indicated that quite a few mCRC cases have different K-ras status between primary tumors and related metastatic sites, and it’s not very rigorous to choose the anti-EGFR treatments merely according to the primary tumor-K-ras mutation.Further study and consultation are needed on this problem.

Journal of China Pharmaceutical University 2020;51(4):504-510
Mental, emotional and other psychological factors have a direct effect on human health, and chronic stress produces neurotransmitters to suppress the body"s immune system, after which homeostasis is destroyed, lead to cells losing their normal state and function and cancer cells being produced. As a result, cancer patients will experience chronic emotional stress and consequently, neurotransmitters will promote the occurrence and development of tumors. This review systematically summarizes the research progress of major neurotransmitters from two aspects: the normal physiological functions and the mechanism of action in the tumor occurrence and development, providing some insights into further exploration of new mechanism of neurotransmitters and the development of drugs that block the neurotransmitters.
