Mutual information(MI) is a tool of measuring the statistical dependence between two random variables. MI between two images, being considered as two random fields, can be calculated to determine the degree of information redundancy between the image intensities of corresponding pixels in both images. In this paper, we utilize the MI criterion to realize the generalized registration between two neighboring slices in a medical image sequence (CT, MR et al) and consider that they match with each other if the MI between them is maximal. Experimental results confirm performance of our algorithm.

Objective To investigate value of real-time three-dimensional echocardiography timingexcursion parametric index and 17 segment volume curves index in patients with restrictive cardiomyopathy and constrictive pericardits.MethodsSeventeen patients with restrictive cardiomyopathy (proven by biopsy) ,six patients with constrictive pericardits (proven by CT or surgical),twenty subjects with normal left ventricular(LV) function were examined by Philips iE33 with X3-1 probe. Results Parameter index of Tmsv 16-SD,Tmsv 12-SD Tmsv 6-SD,Tmsv 16-Dif,Tmsv 12-Dif,Tmsv 6-Dif,Tmsv 16-SD(%) ,Tmsv 12-SD(%),Tmsv 6-SD(%),Tmsv 16-Dif(%),Tmsv 12-Dif(%),Tmsv 6-Dif(%) was significantly higher in patients with restrictive cardiomyopathy than that in subjects with normal LV function(all P <0.05).Average and maximum value and minimum of excursion was significantly lower in patients with restrictive cardiomyopathy than that in subjects with normal LV function (all P <0.005).Whereas,compare with subjects with normal LV function, the parametric indexes of timing-excursion and 17 segment volume curves were not significantly difference in patients with constrictive pericardits(all P >0.05).Conclusions Realtime three-dimensional echocardiography can evaluate and diagnose fastly restrictive cardiomyopathy and constrictive pericardits.

Objective To study the dosimetry parameters of 125I seed source (type Sinko BT-125-1) with thermoluminescent dosimeter (TLD) in the phantom. Methods The new type of phantom was modified to suit to measurement of a common type of 125I seed source. The AAPM TG43 protocol recommended measurements of dose-rate constant (Λ),radial dose function (gL (r)),and anisotropy function (F (r,θ)) have been performed in the phantom with TLD.Results The Λ was 0.928 cGyh-1 U-1.The gL(r) was determined at different radial distances r ranging from 1.0 to 10.0 cm with an interval of 1.0 cm ; and F (r,θ) at angles from 0° to 90° in 10° increments. The gL (r) of 125I seed source showed a difference of 9.6% at the most in comparison to the corresponding values of 125I seed source (type Amersham 6711).The difference in F(2 cm,θ) of 125I seed source and Amersham 6711 was up to 10.2% near the source end. With the phantom the combined standard uncertainty in the whole measurement was less than 6.0%.Conclusions The experimental results exhibit fairly small measurement uncertainties and good self-consistency.It's feasible to measure the dosimetry characters of permanent implant seeds in the modified phantom.

Objective Lung cancer has been the most common cause of cancer death worldwide.More than three quarters is diagnosed at advanced stage.Nearly one half has distant metastases outside the chest cavity. It has been recognized that oligometastatic state exists in natural history of malignant tumors, which has significantly better prognosis than those with polymetastases. The eighth edition of TNM staging system defined NSCLC with a single metastasis as a new separated stage(M1 b).Long-term survival of oligometastatic NSCLC patients treated with local control methods has been reported in literatures. But whether surgical resection of liver metastasis has benefit or not remains unknown. We performed a systematic review of surgical therapy for NSCLC with limited liver metastases.

Objective To determine the utility of apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) values as an objective method of early detection of traumatic brain injury of the mice models in hippocampus injury. Methods A total of 18 healthy male adult C57/BL6 mice were randomly divided into three groups according to the degree of injury:the mild group, severe group and control group.Conventional images,diffusion-weighted images,ADC were studied. The hippocampal were selected as the interesting area.ADC values were calculated and compared with those in control subjects after 6 h,12 h and 24 h.Student t test was performed for each region to compare the injury groups and the control. Results In control group both sides hippocampal ADC values had no differences(8.65±0.26 and 8.77±0.12) × 10-4 mm2/s,P>0.05.Abnormalities were detected on ADC values, compared with conventional images in the injury groups.ADC values in mild group and severe group were significantly different from those of control group(6 h ADC values were (8.70±0.50) × 10-4 mm2/s,(6.13± 0.11) × 10-4 mm2/s,and (3.16±0.78) × 10-4 mm2/s in control, mild and severe group respectively),(12 h ADC values (8.23±0.61)× 10-4 mm2/s,(5.92 ± 0.27) × 10-4 mm2/s and (2.64±0.65) × 10-4 mm2/s) and (24 h ADC values (9.01±0.14) × 10-4 mm2/s,(5.99± 0.13)×10-4 mm2/s and (2.58±0.42)×10-4 mm2/s),P<0.05.Conclusion There are differences among the ADC values on differcnt types of hippocampal brain injury mouse-model.ADC values can identify the degree of damage on brain injury and can detect early craniocerebral injury.

Objective To survey membrane inhibitor of reactive lysis(MIRL) expression in non-small cell lung careinoma(NSCLC) and to analyze the relationship between MIRL expression and clinical staging, adjuvant chemotherapy and disease-free survial. Methods The expression of MIRL in 8 adjacent tissues and 36 NSCLC sam-pies were determined by immunohistochemistry. Furthermore, the relationship between MIRL expression and clinical stage ,adjuvant chemotherapy and disease-free survival was assayed by follow-up. Results Among 36 samples of non-small-cell lung cancer, there were 10(27.8%) samples expressing MIRE. Out of 18 samples of squamous carcinoma, 4(22.2%) expressed MIRL,while 6(37.5%) expressed it in 16 samples of adenocarcinoma, there was no statistical significance between them(P>0.05). There were no expression in 2 samples of large cell carcinoma. There was no correlation between MIRL expression and disease-free survival(P>0.05). MIRL positive expression rate in patients with preoperational adjuvant chemotherapy was significantly lower than that of those without preoperational adjuvant chemotherapy(P<0.05). Conclusions There is great percentage of MIRE expression in NSCLC. Our present study suggests that the immunological inhibition of MIRL should be blocked when monoclonal antibody is used in the treat-merit of NSCLC.

AIM:TostudythefunctionofmicroRNA(miR)-19aandmiR-92abyseed-targetinginhibitionin multiple myeloma cells and their signal pathways .METHODS:The experiments were divided into t-antimiR-19a group, t-antimiR-92a group, scramble control group and blank control group .The growth-inhibitory potencies were measured by MTT assay. The ability of cell colony formation was measured by cell colony formation assay .The ability of cell invasion was measured by Transwell experiment .The miR-19a and miR-92a target gene signal pathways were integrated by miRFo-cus software.RESULTS:MTT assay showed that t-antimiR-19a and t-antimiR-92a significantly inhibited the viability of multiple myeloma cells , and the best concentration and time were 0.5μmol/L and 48 h, respectively .The colony number in t-antimiR-19a/92a group was less than that in scramble control group .The transfection with t-antimiR-19a or t-antimiR-92a effectively decreased the cell invasion , as the relative invasion cell number was significantly decreased compared with scramble control group.miR-19a and miR-92a were involved in mTOR signaling, cell cycle and other cancer pathways . CONCLUSION:miR-19a and miR-92a cluster might be a potential target for therapeutic intervention in multiple myelo-ma.
