15-methyl prostaglandin F2a (PGF2a) in a dose of 0.2 rag/kg B. W.combined with testosterone propionate ( TP ) in a dnse of 25mg/ kg B. W. was better than 15-methyl PGF2a alone in a dope of 0.2mg/ kg B. W. on termination of early pregnancy in rats. The endometriurn necrosis only in the uterine deciduous of rats treated with TP.All the above results show that the combined administration of 15 methyl PGF2a and TP is better than the administration of 15-methyl PGF2a alone. TP can probably strengthen the abortion effect of 15-rnethyl PGF2a.

Objective To invesitgate the relationship between 8-iseprostane (8-iso-PG) level in exhaled breath condensates (EBCs) and severity of asthma and explore the role of 8-iso-PG in asthma evaluation and monitoring. Methods Fifty-nine patients with asthma were enrolled. In which 15 eases were acute exacerbation, 13 eases were mild intermittent, 15 eases were mild persistent, and 16 eases were mederate-to-severe persistent.Thirteen healthy volunteers were recruited as control.EBCs were collected using EeoSereen system. The 8-iso-PG levels in EBCs were measured by a specific enzyme immunoassay. The patients with mild intermittent asthma were treated with inhaled corticosteroid (ICS) for one month and their EBCs were recollected for 8-iso-PG measurement. Results Exhaled 8-iso-PG levels were obviously increased in the patients with acute asthma compared with those chronic asthmatics [(47.2±6.8) pg/mL vs (24.5±12.0) pg/mL, P < 0.01].In the chronic persistent asthma, the levels were significantly higher in patients with mild persistent and moderate-to-severe asthma [(17.9±1.2) pg/mL and (39.7±4.0) pg/mL, P <0.01].While 8-iso-PG level did not differ significantly in intermittent asthma [(13.5±1.1) pg/mL] compared with the control subjects (P > 0.05).After one-month ICS treatment the 8-iso-PG level in the patients with mild intermittent asthma did not change significantly although the ACT score improved. Conclusions 8-iso-PG levels in EBC are associated with the severity of asthma, implicating 8-iso-PG may be useful in monitoring airway oxidative stress in asthma.ICS treatment is incapable of decreasing the 8-iso-PG,suggesting the ICS has minor impact on oxidative stress.

According to the TCM theory, human growth, development and aging are closely related to kidney function and the main cause of human senility is deficiency of “kidney essence”. Recent studies showed that the “kidney” in TOM include the regulatory function of the neuroendocrine and immune systems.
In this paper, the effect of Guzhen Recipe (_??__??__??_), an aging retarding prescription composed of kidney tonifying herbs such as Radix Polygoni Multiflori (_??__??_), Herba Cistanchis (_??__??_) Rubus Chiagii (_??__??__??_) etc. on the hippocampus and HPAT axis in senile rats were observed. The results showed : (1) With age the number of glucocorticoid receptors (GCR) in the hippocampus, the concentrations of NE, DA, 5-HT in the hypothalamus were markedly decreased, while the plasma corticosterone concentration in senile rats was obviously increased. (2) The thymocyte GCR nuclear transition rate was increased significantly ; (3) The contents of cytoplasmic protein, nuclear RNA and DNA, the thymus weight/body weight ratio, the serum thymic factors as well asthe rate of lymphocyte transformation, the activity of IL-2 and NK cells in senile rats were obviously decreased compared to those of young control rats. Guzhen recipe however, was capable of improving these changes in the neuroendocrine-thymic net work in senile rats to varying degrees, suggesting that the kidney with Chinese Medicine might retard the functional degeneration of thymic endocrine partly by improving the feedback regulation of the hippocampal GCR and increasing the concentrations of NE and 5-HT of hypothalamus, thus decreasing the plasma corticosterone ; Simultaneously weakening the nuclear transition rate of thymocyte GCR, which in turn improving the immune function of the senile animal.
We concluded that Guzhen Recipe may retard the functional degeneration of both the hypo-thalamuspituitary-gornadal-thymic and hypothalamus-pituitary-thyroidal-thymic axis. All the above results revealed that retarding the aging effect using TCM in volves multiple-leves, multiple-systems and links. Using holistic regulation, imbalance links in aging process are modulated and the equilibrium of Yin and Yang are maintained. This is an important characteristic of the TCM to retard aging.

AIM: To investigate the mechanisms of the anti-myocardial ischemia of Sini decoction at the level of proteome. METHODS: The total proteins of left ventricular muscle were separated with two-dimensional electrophoresis. The 2-DE images were analyzed with the PDQuest7 1 1 software package. The peptide mass fingerprinting(PMF) was made with MALDI-TOF-MS, then the identification and function of the protein was made via bioinformatics. RESULTS: Sini decoction could regulate the expression of 13 proteins in the ischemic myocardium. The proteins could allocated into five groups: energy metabolism-associated proteins, signal-associated proteins ,self-repair-associated proteins, anti-free radical injury-associated proteins and myocardial contractile-associated proteins. CONCLUSION: Sini decoction could prevent the myocardium from ischemia via regulating expression of different proteins.

AIM: To examine the alteration of local renin-angiotensin system of dogs with myocardial ischemia and external counterpulsation treatment and its mechanism. METHODS: Acute myocardial ischemia was induced by occluding the LAD of ischemic and ECP groups. The tissue renin activity and angiotensin(AngⅡ) level in ischemic myocardium and aorta were measured. The expression of angiotensinogen and renin mRNA were detected by RT-PCR. RESULTS: Renin activity, AngⅡ level in ischemic myocardium and AngⅡ level in aorta of ECP group were lower than those of MI group. Except for renin in ischemic myocardium, angiotensinogen mRNA and renin in ischemic myocardium and angiotensinogen mRNA in aorta of ECP group were reduced to normal level. CONCLUSION: The inhibitory effect of ECP on cardiovascular renin activity and angiotensinogen gene expression could be one of the mechanisms by which ECP protects ischemic myocardium.

AIM: To examine the effect of external counterpulsation(ECP) on renin-angiotensin system(RAS) and hemodynamics in dogs with myocardial ischemia and their relationship. METHODS: Acute myocardial ischemia was induced by occluding the left anterior descending of the dogs. The local renin activity, angiotensin Ⅱ(AngⅡ) level, angiotension-converting enzyme(ACE) activity were tested by biochemical methods and hemodynamics was recorded by a 8-channel physiological recorder. RESULTS: Ischemia could actiivate renin,ACE and AngⅡ in cardiovasculature and ECP reduced them except for renin in ischemic myocardium. Ischemia also could activate RAS in lung and kidney, which play an important role on circulating RAS, and ECP reduced them. Furthermore, ECP could improve hemodynamics and there existed a close relationship between local AngⅡlevel and hemodynamics. CONCLUSION: ECP can reduce local RAS and improve hemodynamics in dogs with myocardial ischemia, which might be one of mechanisms underlying the protective effect of ECP on ischemic myocardium.

Breathing gas carries important physiological information. Technology for detection of breathing gas has become a research focus because of the advantages of nondestructive sampling and convenient operation. Proton transfer reaction mass spectrometry (PTR-MS) plays an irreplaceable role because of the advantages of high sensitivity, fast response and good specificity. In this paper, the principle of PTR-MS is introduced first, followed by research progress of PTR-MS in the field of breathing gas detection. Factors influencing the test results are analyzed. Finally, future prospects of development for PTR-MS in the field of breathing gas detection are discussed.

Objective To investigate the risk factors for intracranial infection after external ventricular drainage and provide basis for preventing and controlling the drainage-associated intracranial infection. Metheds the clinical data from three hundred sixty-seven cases of ventricular hemorrhage patients were retrospectively analyzed, using Logis?tic regression to screen risk factors of intracranial infection after external ventricular drainage. Results There were 29 cases with intracranial infection and infection rate was 8.19%, 8.04% and 7.32% at ventricle drainage tube indwelling 1-week group, 2-week group and 3 week-group, respectively. Glasgow coma score (GCS) [OR= 2. 569 CI (1.792 3.378) %, P< 0.05), urokinase perfusion (OR= 2.897, 95%CI (1.297 5.061), P< 0.05), cerebrospinal fluid sampling (OR= 3.399, 95%CI (2.705 4.175), P< 0.01] and comorbidities [OR= 3.751, 95%CI (2.032 5.371), P< 0.01] were risk factors for ventricle drainage operation. Conclusion Ventricle drainage tube indwelling 3 weeks is safe. Less use of urokinase perfusion and cerebrospinal fluid sampling and active treatment of comorbidities diseases can reduce the intra?cranial infection incidence of external ventricular drainage after Intraventricular hemorrhage .
