Objective To investigate the clinical characteristics of general paresis of insane(GPI) and diagnostic value of laboratory and neuroimaging examinations. Methods The clinical data of 2 patients with GPI were analyzed retrospectively and the pertinent literatures were reviewed. Results The main clinical characteristics consisted of insidious onset, progressive dementia, mental disorder and epileptic seizure. These 2 patients were originally misdiagnosed. Both rapid plasma reagin test and treponema gelatin agglutination test in serum and cerebrospinal fluid were positive.Cranial MRI showed diffuse cerebral atrophy. Conclusions The clinical characteristics of GPI are varied and misdiagnosis rate is high at early stage of this disease. The diagnosis of GPI mainly depends on clinical characteristics, serum and cerebrospinal fluid examinations.

AIM: To analyze the role of complement system(CS)and its classical pathway in the pathogenesis of lacrimal gland benign lymphoepithelial lesions(LGBLEL).METHODS: The tissues of patients with LGBLEL or orbital cavernous hemangioma(CH)were collected. Proteomics analysis was used for the identification of different proteins. Reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR), immunohistochemical staining(IHC)and Western Blotting were employed to verify the changes of the differential proteins in CS signal pathway, in order to identify its role in the pathogenesis of LGBLEL.RESULTS: The results of proteomic analysis showed that the expression levels of proteins C3, C5, C9 and C1q in CS signal pathway in the lacrimal gland tissues of LGBLEL patients were all changed compared with those of orbital CH patients. The results of RT-PCR showed that the mRNA expression levels of C1qA, C5 and C9 in patients with LGBLEL were significantly higher than those patients with orbital CH. The results of IHC showed that the expression levels of C1qA, C3, C5 and C9 were significantly increased in patients with LGBLEL compared with those patients with orbital CH. The results of Western Blotting showed that the protein expression levels of C1qA, C3, and C9 were significantly increased in patients with LGBLEL compared with those patients with orbital CH.CONCLUSION: The CS has been shown to participate in the pathogenesis of LGBLEL and its classical pathway may be one of the pathways which plays a role.

Objective: To explore the relevant factors of work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WMSDs) among dentists through Meta analysis, providing a basis for the prevention and control of WMSDs among dentists. Methods: In April 2022, cross-sectional research literatures on the prevalence correlation of WMSDs among Chinese dentists were searched in databases such as China National Knowledge Infrastructure, Wanfang, VIP, PubMed, Web of Science, and Em Base database. The search was conducted from the establishment of the database until April 2022, literatures were selected using keywords such as musculoskeletal disorders and dentists. To extract gender, age, length of service, disease classification and other related influencing factors as indicator, and prevalence was selected as the outcome indicator. After evaluating the quality of the literatures, RevMan 5.3 software was used to calculate the combined RD (95%CI) values of the included literatures. Results: A total of 15 articles were included, with a total sample size of 3646 people. Meta analysis results showed that the prevalence of WMSDs among dentists in China was 80%, and the top three parts of the incidence rates were 65% of the waist, 58% of the neck, and 50% of the back. Gender, age, length of service, region and disease classification all increased the risk of WMSDs, and the combined effect size were 75%, 78%, 71%, 77% and 82% respectively (P<0.05) . Conclusion: The occurrence of WMSDs among dentists in China is related to multiple factors such as gender, age, length of service and disease classification. The above risk factors should be taken into account in the workplace and preventive measures should be actively implemented to prolong the working life of dentists.

7.Inhibitory effect of grape procyanidin on the cell apoptosis induced by radiation.
Chinese Journal of Industrial Hygiene and Occupational Diseases 2004;22(6):448-451
OBJECTIVETo study the inhibition effect of grape procyanidin (GPC) on the cell apoptosis and injury of proliferation induced by radiation.
METHODSThree indices including apoptosis rate, proliferation rate and expression of bcl-2 and bax protein were examined in the mice pancreas after taking different dose GPC by mouth and radiation by (60)Co-gamma ray once.
RESULTSThe cell proliferation and bcl-2 expression in high dose GPC group (3.16% +/- 0.13% and 49.8% respectively), were higher than those in radiation control group (0.64% +/- 0.11%, 29.7%), but the cell apoptosis rate and bax expression (19.8% and 55.0% respectively), were lower than those in radiation control group (35.6%, 85.7%). All the above differences were statistically significant (P < 0.05).
CONCLUSIONGPC has certain protective effect against the mice pancreatic cell apoptosis and the abnormal expression of bcl-2 and bax protein induced by (60)Co-gamma.
