Objective To explore the effects of chemical reaction of aluminum salt in water solution on developmental toxicity. Methods Inhibiting actions on embryo growth and development, and organ morphogenetic differentiation in rats induced by newly prepared and 11.5-month stored aluminum sulfate solution were observed and compared using whole embryo culture method in rats. Results Both of the two observed solutions showed a certain embryo toxicity and teratogenicity. The toxicity of stored solution decreased significantly compared with that of newly prepared solution. At the same concentration of aluminum, the total Brown's morphogenetic score reflecting the every index of embryo growth and development and organ morphogenetic differentiation, the incidence rates of terata and the number of dead embryos were significant lower in rats exposed to stored solution compared with those exposed to newly prepared solution, especially the morbidity of embryos. Conclusion The complexation reaction between aluminum ions (Al3+) and water molecules in stored aluminum sulfate solution resulted in the changes of existing state of Al3+ and its decreasing developmental toxicity to rats.

Objective To explore the role of IEGs in the central neurotoxicity of mice induced by anatoxin-a ANTX-A. Methods 80 Kunming mice were divided into groups and treated with ANTX-A at 200, 50 and 12.5 ?g/kg respectively i.p. for one month, 0.9% sodium chloride solution was used as the control. The expression of c-fos and NGFI-A genes and CREB protein in mouse brain were determined by using RT-PCR and immunocytochemical methods. Results The expression of c-fos gene significantly increased in the females of 50, 200 ?g/kg groups and in the males of 200 ?g/kg group compared with the control group. The expression of C-FOS and CREB-1 protein was significantly higher in 200 ?g/kg group than that in the control group. In all ANTX-A treated groups, the expression of NGFI-A gene did not show a significant difference compared with the control. Conclusion c-fos and CREB-1 genes may play a role in the central neurotoxicity induced by anatoxin-a.

Objective:To investigate the changes of hyoid position and pharyngeal airway before and after sagittal split ramus osteotomy (SSRO) of skeletal mandibular prognathism. Methods:Sixteen severe skeletal mandibular prognathism cases(Class Ⅲ, 5 males and 11 females) were chosen. Pre and post operation lateral cephalograms analysis reflecting pharyngeal airway and position of the hyoid bone was performed. Results: ① After SSRO, the width of airway decreased significantly. ② The distance between the mandible and the hyoid bone was also decreased significantly. No significant differences were found regarding measurements of the hyoid bone to the cranial base in male patients. Conclusion: The distance from the mandible to the hyoid bone and the width of airway were decreased significantly after SSRO. It suggests that the tongue and airway might be reformed functionally to new environments following SSRO surgical treatment.

Objective To investigate radiation dose to the patients undergoing interventional radiology and make radiation risk assessment. Methods Data was collected on 198 instances of 10 interventional radiology procedures by using Philips Allura Xper FD20 DSA, which was equipped with the transparent ionization chamber system in compliance with IEC 60601-2.Patient peak skin dose and effective dose were estimated. Results Cumulative fluoroscopy time was 2.1 - 80.9 min, and number of images monitored for PSD were above 1 Gy and 79 cases monitored for E were above 20 mSv.Conclusions Substantial number of cases exceeded the dose threshold for erythema.Due attention should be paid to radiation protection of patients.

Objective To investigate the significance of total bilirubin/albumin in predicting bilirubin neurotoxicity. Methods Eighty-three cases with hyperbilirubinemia who treated from May 2007 to August 2010 were selected, the serum total bilirubin and albumin were detected and total bilirubin/albumin was calculated.According to brainstem auditory evoked potential(BAEP)results, the patients were divided into normal BAEP group and abnormal BAEP group and compared. Results There were 27 cases of abnormal BAEP group and 56 cases of normal BAEP group.Total bilirubin and total bilirubin/albumin in abnormal BAEP group were higher than those in normal BAEP group[(356.50±59.23)μmol/L vs.(318.70±55.12)μmol/L,(5.02±0.49)×10-3 vs.(4.56±0.43)×10-3],the differences were significant (P<0.05).Multiple regression analysis showed:abnormal BAEP was closely related to total bilirubin/albumin(r=0.72,P<0.05),whih abnormal BAEP was not obviously related to total bilirubin(r=0.19,P>0.05).Conclusion Total bilirubin/albumin can reflect serum unconjugated bilirubin level of neonatus with hyperbilirubinemia better than total bilirubin, and it can can be taken as one index to evaluate the risk factors of bilirubin neurotoxicity.

Objective To explore the changes and the clinical relevance of plasma p-selectin (PS) and vascular endothelial cell function in patients with carotid stenosis (CS) before and after carotid artery stenting (CAS). Methods The plasma levels of PS, yon willebrand (vWF) and endothelin-1 (ET-1) before CAS and 1hour,6 hours,24 hours,2 months after CAS in 67 patients with carotid stenosis and 54 cases of TIA with negative result from cerebral angiography were measured. The patients of the therapy group were further divided into group A and group B according to complexity of CAS. The plasma levels of PS and vWF were determined by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay, and the level of ET-1 was measured by radioimmunoassay. Results The plasma levels of PS,vWF and ET-1 all increased in the patients group after CAS. In the therapy group, the level of PS reached peak value (29.23 ± 6.98) ng/ml 1 hour after CAS, and the levels of vWF and ET-1 reached peak value (119.63 ±16.75) %, (79.71 ± 9.78) ng/L 6 hour after CAS. In therapy group, there was significant difference in the levels of PS and ET-1 between each time points after CAS and before CAS (P<0.05,P <0.01 respectively). There was significant difference in the level of vWF between 1 hour, 6 hours, 24 hours after CAS and before CAS (P < 0.05 orP < 0.01). There was significant difference in tihe levels of PS 1 hour after CAS and ET-1 at 6 hours after CAS (P <0.05) ,and in the level of vWF at 1 hour,6 hours after CAS between control group and therapy group (P <0.01).There was significant difference in the level of vWF at every time point after CAS (P < 0.05 or P < 0.01), and in the level of ET-1 at 1 hour,6 hours,24 hours between A group and B group(P <0.05 or P <0.01). Conclusions PS, vWF and ET-1 were activated to some extent and related to pathological changes degree and complexity of CAS. Monitoring these biological indexes after CAS maybe of great value in predicting risk, evaluating clinical therapy and judging prognosis.

Objective To discuss the application of C-arm CT scanning technology in performing transcatheter arterial chemoembolization for hepatic cancer. Methods Seventy-seven patients of hepatic cancer were treated with selective transcatheter arterial chemoembolization(TACE),which was followed by C-arm CT scanning to observe the embolization effect.C-arm CT scanning was also performed before TACE in 13 cases.Three-dimension reconstruction of the images was carried out on Integris 3D-RA workstation. The therapeutic results were evaluated. Results The embolization state of both the peripheral margin and the body of the tumor could be clearly displayed on CT scans in all 77 patients. Some tiny liver lesions were also detected in 3cases.Conclusion C-arm CT scanning technology is a newly-developed high-tech examination. This examination is very helpful for making the proper operation scheme and for evaluating the curative effect of intravascular intervention.Compared to the traditional CT scanning,C-arm CT scanning can provide more accurate information and stereoscopic image of the lesions, therefore, the whole course of the interventional procedure can be entirely under the operator's control and the curative effect can be evaluated at any time during the operation.C-arm CT scanning can be effectively employed in interventional therapy for multisystemic disorders.
