Biological monitoring is one of methods of water environment monitoring. By using the reaction of biological individual, population and community to environmental pollution, biomonitoring can expound the pollution state, provide monitoring data for the environmental quality assessment. The sensitivity,bio-concentration,long-term and comprehensive characteristics are advantages of biomonitoring. This paper summarized the methods of the biomonitoring used in practise, including biotic index, toxicity test, polyurethane foam unit, simultaneous determination, ecotoxicogenomics and involved single cell algae, protozoana, benthic organisms, amphibian. The shortages of the monitoring method also exist, for example, the regional limitation.

The effects of various soluble extracts of Ascaris suum on human blood coagulation were studied. The extract of whole worm could prolong recalcification time (RT) and kaolin-activated, partial thromboplastin time (KPTT), but did not alter prothrombin time (PT), indicating that the intrinsic pathway of blood coagulation was inhibited by this extract, but the extrinsic pathway was not affected. Whole worm extract inhibited platelet aggregation induced by ADP, but did not influence the one induced by adrenaline. Neither whole worm extract nor body fluid caused fibrinolysis. In KPTT assays with three dif-ferent extracts, cuticle extract exhibited the strongest anticoagulant activity, while whole worm extract and body fluid much less so. These data suggested that anticoagulants of ascaris mainly exist in the cuticle,

Objective To explore the value of interphase fluorescence in situ hybridization(FISH) in the detection of trisomy 8 in patients with hematologic disorders. Methods Seventy-seven patients were vestigated by directly labeled centrome DNA probes specific for 8 chromosome. The results were compared with that of conventional cytogenetic (CC) analysis. Results The proportion of trisomy 8 of 77 cases of hematologic disorders detected by FISH is higher than by G-banding karyotyping and FISH could offer the result when conventional cytogenetic methods failed to diagnose. Conclusion Interphase FISH is more sensitive in the detection of trisomy 8 than CC, and FISH displays its superiority in the detection of small clone.

Objective To investigate the expression of the preferentially expressed antigen of melanoma (PRAME) gene in acute myeloid leukemia (AML),and to evaluate its applicability in monitoring minimal residual disease (MRD).Methods Bone marrow specimens were collected from 63 cases of de-novo AML,while 34 samples from 11 patients were tracked for 28 months. The level of PRAME mRNA was measured by real time RT-PCR.Results The PRAME gene expressed in 52.4 % (33/63) of de-novo patients, and the positive rate was highest in M3 than that in other subtypes of AML.The expression of PRAME became negative after treatment and increased in the following months before morphology relapse. Conclusion The PRAME gene is highly expressed in AML and could be a useful marker to monitor MRD.

Objective: To study the therapeutic effect of hyaluronic acid chitosan?based microemulsion ( HAC?ME) and carboplatin in a Wistar rat model bearing cerebral C6 glioma xenografts. Methods:C6 rat glioma cells were cultured normally. A total of 30 Wistar rats bearing orthotopic C6 glioma xenografts were randomly divided into 3 groups, and administrated with physiological saline, carbopl?atin or HAC?ME and carboplatin in each group. There are 10 rats in each group. The rat apoptosis changes and survival time were ob?served after treated with physiological saline, carboplatin or HAC?ME and carboplatin in each group. Results:Glioma cells were nega?tive in saline group with TUNEL staining, the nuclei of individual glioma cells in glioma tissue were stained with brown, indicating ap?optosis occur in carboplatin group, the apoptosis of glioma cells in glioma tissue significantly increased in HAC?ME and carboplatin group with TUNEL staining. The survival time in HAC?ME and carboplatin group was longer than that in saline group and carboplatin group ( P<0?05) . Conclusion:Administration of HAC?ME and carboplatin can suppress the growth of C6 glioma in rats and may pro?vide experimental basis for clinical treatment of glioma.
