BACKGROUND:Numerous studies have demonstrated various therapeutic methods for cerebrospinal fluid leakage after spinal column surgery, including intraoperative and postoperative measures. Few studies addressed the therapeutic methods of cerebrospinal fluid leakage after cervical vertebra surgery using lumbar subarachnoid catheter drainage.
OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the therapeutic efficacy of sustainable drainage and lumbar subarachnoid catheter drainage for cervical postoperative cerebrospinal fluid leakage.
METHODS:923 patients underwent cervical spine surgery in the Department of Spinal Surgery, the First Affiliated Hospital of Xinjiang Medical University, China from June 2009 to October 2012. There were 24 cases of postoperative cerebrospinal fluid leakage with an incidence of cerebrospinal fluid leakage of 2.6%(24/923). The dural laceration that could not be repaired or be found induced cerebrospinal fluid leakage. Of them, 12 cases received lumbar subarachnoid catheter drainage (catheter group), and 12 cases received sustainable drainage (drainage group).
RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:Compared with the drainage group, the duration of cerebrospinal fluid leakage was significantly shorter in the catheter group (P<0.05). In the catheter group, one case affected cerebrospinal fluid infection. In the drainage group, two cases experienced cerebrospinal fluid cyst and one case suffered from cerebrospinal fluid infection. They were cured by symptomatic treatment. A total of 24 cases were fol owed up for 9-12 months. None of them affected cerebrospinal fluid leakage, cerebrospinal fluid infection or cerebrospinal fluid cyst. Results demonstrated that lumbar subarachnoid catheter drainage in the treatment of cervical postoperative cerebrospinal fluid leakage has a good effect.

From January 2000 to December 2006, 78 hypertensive patients with intracerebral hemorrhage(80~130 ml)underwent minimally invasive surgery(n=41)or small bone window craniotomy(n=37). Neurological deficit scores and mortality were estimated to evaluate the therapeutic efficacy among those two group patients. The success rate was significantly higher in the micro-invasive surgery group than the small bone window craniotomy group(P<0. 05). However, no significantly lower mortality was detected in the micro-invasive surgery group(P>0. 05). In summary, micro-invasive surgery may reduce the mortality, largely increase the success rate of treatment, and improve patients' quality of life.

Objective To explore the feasibility of mechanical chest compression to establish a rat model of car?diopulmonary resuscitation ( CPR) . Methods 4?month old healthy male Sprague Dawley rats were randomly divided into control group ( n=6 ) and model group ( n=10 ) . After induction of anaesthesia with 10% chloraldurate ( 3 ml/kg, i. p. ) , tracheal intubation and left femoral artery cannulation were performed. Under electrocardiographic and artery blood pressure monitoring, tracheal obstruction ( TO) was performed to rats in model group. At 2 min after the cardiac arrest ( CA) occurred, CPRs were administered to the rats using a self?made animal chest compressor, which provided chest?com?pression at a rate of 200 bpm. Results Shortly after TO, rats in the model group had respiratory arrest, cyanosis and ar?rhythmia. Electrocardiography indicated that CA occurred within 4-5 min, with a decreased artery systolic blood pressure ( <40 mmHg) and a zero pulse pressure. Return of spontaneous circulation ( ROSC) after the CPR was successfully a?chieved in 8 rats (80%), with a transient reperfusion arrhythmia. Finally, 60% of the rats (n=6) recovered to con?sciousness and survived for 24 hrs. The serum biochemical analysis indicated that there were electrolyte disturbances, aci?dosis, impaired renal functions and increased myocardial enzyme spectrum. Pathological examination revealed cardiac rhab? domyolysis, no?reflow phenomenon in renal glomeruli, decrease of neurons and pulmonary congestion in the model group rats. Conclusions Mechanical chest compression can provide minimal cardiac output for the requirement of CPR incardiac arrestin rats. It is feasible to establish rat CPR model with the mechanical chest compression.

Objective To analyze the characteristics of TCM syndromes of children abnormal sweating; To investigate the correlation between diseases and primary and secondary syndromes. Methods Through a multi-center epidemiology investigation, 400 cases were collected to statistically analyze the five TCM syndromes of children abnormal sweating, and characteristics of each syndrome were analyzed. Results In the 400 cases of children abnormal sweating, there were 129 cases (32.25%) of dysfunction of lung-wei pattern, 50 cases (12.50%) of nutrient qi and defensive qi discordance, 84 cases (21.00%) of qi and yin deficiency pattern, 57 cases (14.25%) of dampness heat forced steamed pattern, and 80 cases (20.00%) of qi and yang deficiency pattern. Spontaneous sweating and night sweating were found in the four patterns besides qi and yin deficiency pattern, and night sweating can be mainly found in qi and yin deficiency. Each type is consistent in the syndrome differentiation and cluster analysis. Conclusion Spontaneous sweating and night sweating, each has the certification of yin and yang. Spontaneous sweating can be caused by yin deficiency while night sweating can be caused by yang deficiency. Each pattern of children abnormal sweating has its own syndrome characteristic, which can provide the basis for clinical diagnosis and treatment.
