Objective: To observe the atrial expression of angiotensin II receptor type 1 (AT1R) and α7-nicotinic acetylcholine receptor(α7nAChR) during the development of heart failure in rats. Methods: Male SD rats were randomly divided into 4 groups. Abdominal aorta coarctation (AAC) was used to prepare heart failure model. Expression of AT1R and α7nAChR was determined by Western blotting analysis at 4,8,12, and 16 weeks after AAC in all the groups. Results: Compared with the control group, expression of AT1R and α7nAChR in AAC group was not significantly different at all the 4 time points after AAC. Conclusion: Our findings suggest that atrial AT1R and α7nAChR may not be involved in the early stage pathological process of AAC-induced heart failure.

Evidence-based medicine emphasizes making project of diagnosis and therapy on the basis of the most objective research results. The current condition in which domestic medicine is dominant in hepatobiliary surgery and teaching needs to be changed urgently. The procedure of application of evidence-based medicine in teaching of hepatobiliary surgery is explained by an actual example. Evidence-based medicine plays an important role in teaching and quick progress in all of the hepatobiliary surgery.

Objective To investigate the effect of estrogen on gliosis, synaptic proliferation and reorganization in hippocampus of rats with chronic epilepsy induced by pentylenetetrazol (PTZ). Methods Thirty-two Wistar rats were randomly divided into normal control group, PTZ kindling epilepsy group, estrogen+PTZ group and estrogen +Tamoxifen (mixed estrogen antagonist)+PTZ group. The PTZ kindling epilepsy group was intraperitoneally injected with 35 mg/kg PTZ once a day, then the behavior of the rats in one hour was observed. The estrogen interfered group was intramuscluarly injected of 0.6 ?g/kg ?-estradiol 6 h before PTZ injection, 1/3 d. The estrogen+Tamoxifen interfered group was injected of Tamoxifen into lateral cerebral ventricle 1 h before estrogen injection. If the severe epileptic seizures occurred three times, the rats were ready for detecting the expression of filial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) and synaptophysin (P38) by immunohistochemical technique. Results Epileptic seizure occoured earlier and more severely in most rats of estrogen interfered group than no estrogen interfered group. Rats in all model groups were found more astrocyte proliferation and positive synaptophysin staining, especially in the CA2, CA3 and hilar areas of dentate gyrus (DG) of hippocampus than control group. Objective To observe the effects of intensive insulin therapy on IL-10 level and NF-ΚB activity in peripheral blood mononuclear cells in patients undergoing cardiopulmonary bypass.Methods The non-diabetic patients undergoing cardiopulmonary bypass in our department were selected and assigned to intensive therapy group (group A,n=40) and received strict glycemic control after the initiation of surgery.And those who undergoing cardiac surgery but without strict glycemic control were assigned to routine therapy group (group B,n=40) as controls.The blood glucose in group A was maintained at 4.4～8.3mmol/L,whereas the glucose in group B was below 11.lmmol/L.The concentration of serum IL-10 and NF-ΚB activity in peripheral blood mononuclear cells was measured at different time points.Results There were no significant differences in general data between two groups.The concentration of IL-10 in group B was significantly lower than that in group A(P<0.05).compared with group B,strict glycemic control markedly suppressed NF-KB activation (P<0.05).Conclusion Intensive insulin therapy could reduce the activity of NF-ΚB and then reduce the expression of IL-10.Strict glycemic control could significantly mitigate the systemic inflammatory response.

Objective To investigate the association between peripheral monocyte CD36 expression and rheum-atoid arthritis (RA).Methods A total of 108 patients with RA and 108 healthy individuals were included between 2014 and 2015.Disease Activity Score (DAS)28-erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) and DAS28-C reactive protein (CRP) were used to estimate disease activity in patients with RA,and monocyte CD36 fluorescence intensity was determined by using flow cytometry.Student's t test or Mann-Whitney U test was used to compare the differences between the two groups.The categorical data was compared using x2 test.Correlations between variables were analyzed with Spearman correlation,Logistic regression analysis was used to identify risk factors associated with RA,we used receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve to estimate the performance of relevant variables for RA.Results Low density lipoprotein cholesterin (LDL-C) [(2.8±0.8) mmol/L,(2.6±0.6) mmol/L,t=-2.046,P=0.042],ESR[25.5(18.00,40.00) mm/1 h,10.00(4.60,10.00) mm/1 h,Z=-12.786,P＜0.01],CRP [15.9 (6.71,25.43) mg/L,2.28 (1.63,4.60) mg/L,Z=-7.980,P＜0.01] and monocyte CD36 expression [(0.44±0.22)×109/L,(081 ±0.26)×109/L,t=1 1.159,P＜0.01] was statistically different between the two groups.Of note,monocyte CD36 fluorescence intensity was negatively correlated with disease activity in patients with moderate and severe disease (r=-0.146,P=0.036;r=-0.259,P=0.007).In stepwise Logistic regression analysis,monocyte CD36 fluorescence intensity was independently associated with RA [OR=0.803,P=0.002,95％CI (0.791,0.820)].ROC curve analysis showed a significant performance with area under curve of 0.855 [95％CI (0.807,0.904);P＜0.01],the sensitivity and specificity were 80.6％ and 73.1％,respectively,the cutoff values was 0.570.Conclusion Monocyte CD36 fluorescence intensity was independently associated with RA in stepwise Logistic regression analysis.A correlation between monocyte CD36 fluorescence intensity and DAS28-CRP,DAS28-ESR was observed in RA patients.

Object To study the growth speed and dynamic spore production of CY-8202, which is an asexual strain of entomopathogenic fungi isloated from Cordyceps sinensis (Berk.) Sacc., to explore the method of artificial culture of CY-8208 strain, to assay its antibiotic activity and spectrem and to provide the experimental basis for studies of its active components. Methods Variations in colony diameter of the cordyceps hypha cultured on the fungi media were measured. The spore-count was used to determine the dynamic colony spore outputs of the hypha on several fungi media and water agar. The agar-piece method was used to test its antibiotic activity.Results There were linear relationships between the colony extensions and the culture times on common fungi media such as PDA medium, etc.. The amounts of spore produced by the single colony of the fungi were more than 10 7 and gradually increased, but the rates of increase tended to be gentle after 200 h. Antimicrobial tests against 22 microbial strains showed strong inhibition of gram positve bacteria including Bacillus subtilis, Micrococcus tetragenus and Staphylococcus albus, and to gram negative bacteria, including Proteus vulgaris, Salmonella typhi, Aerobacter aerogenes and Salmonella sp., as well as weak inhibition of three mold strains and one actinomycetes strain, but no inhibition was observed in four yeast tested.Conclusion The growth activity and the spore-production ability of Cordyceps hypha are two important factors to infect validly its insect-host. For the growth activity, its strong penetration seems more important than its fast growth. The ability to product numerous spores of Cordyceps hypha may be an important mark of its strong infectivity to insect-host. The antimicrobial tests show that CY-8202 may secrete some metabolites which have a more broad-spectrum antibacterial activity than cordycepin isolated initially from Cordyceps militaris.
