2.Effects of Exercise Training on Cardiac Function and Automatic Nervous Activity in Patients with Coronary Artery Disease following PTCA or Intracoronary Stent Implantation

Objective The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of exercise training on cardiac function and automatic nervous activity in patients with coronary artery disease(CAD) following PTCA or intracoronary stent implantation. Methods For this study, 37 CAD patients (28 men and 9 women; aged 56.23 ?11.16 years) participated in a supervised 8-week training program with 35 healthy controls(27 men and 8 women; aged 55.72 ?10.34 years). Cardiac function was assessed with indexes obtained during exercise testing using the standard Bruce protocol (submaximal gradural treadmill exercise) before and after 8 weeks training. Meanwhile, heart rate variability (HRV) was used to value the automatic nervous activity. The discipline of nutrition has been developing quickly in the past 30 years in China,and a number of scientific progress has been achieved.Some new discoveries have been unveiled in terms of treatment and prevention of liver carcinoma,colon cancer,and breast cancer by certain nutrients.Besides,the application of nutrition in the prevention and treatlnents of metabolic diseases such as obesity.diabetes mellitus and congenital malfcIrmation has been studied.Furthermore,academic achievements in the treatment of tumor and metabolic diseases by integrating nutritional therapies has also been made.The establishment of relevant organizations and institutes as well as the prosperous performance of nutrition education contribute to the development of discipline of nutrition in China.
4.Research advances in the pathogenesis of pediatric parenteral nutrition associated cholestasis

Parenteral nutrition associated cholestasis (PNAC) mainly occurs in children. Currently identified risk factors include premature infants, lack of enteral feeding, repeated infections, and toxicity or nutrient deficiency of parenteral nutrition solution. Recent studies have shown that nuclear receptor-mediated bile acid transporter may be the key site of PNAC pathogenesis, in which some cytokines play important roles. New anti-cholestatic therapy based on the regulation of expression of these molecules may prevent end-stage liver disease caused by PNAC.
5.Determination of Serum resistin levels in obstructive sleep apnea hypopnea syndrome patients and the clinical significance evaluation

Objective To investigate the change of serum resistin levels in patients with obstructive sleep apnea hypopnea syndrome(OSAHS).MethodsPolysomnography(PSG)was performed in 58 patients with OSAHS and in 26 controls without differences in age and BMI.Serum resistin levels were measured by ELISA.Results(1)Serum resistin levels were significantly higher in patients with OSAHS than those in control group.(2)FPG levels were significantly higher in patients with OSAHS than those in control group.(3)TG levels were significantly higher in patients with OSAHS than those in control group.(4)Serum resistin levels were correlated positively with FPG in obesity patients with OSAHS、nonobesity patients with OSAHS and nonbesity controls group.(5)Serum resistin levels were correlated positively with TG in obesity patients with OSAHS、nonobesity patients with OSAHS and nonbesity controls group.(6)Serum resistin levels were correlated positively with BMI in OSAHS.(7)Serum resistin levels were correlated negatively with LSaO2 in OSAHS.(8)Serum resistin levels were correlated positively with AHI in OSAHS.ConclusionDetermination of serum resistin levels may be the predictors of the severity of OSAHS and it also contributes a lot taking measures to prevent and control the OSAHS complication occurrence and reduce the mortality.

L-Carnitine plays an essential role in the transfer of long chain fatty acids from the cytoplasm of a cell into the mitochondrion,where they undergo ?-oxidation.Carnitine deficiency is characterized by plasma and tissue carnitine concentrations below those required for the normal functions of the organism,including cardiomyopathy,myopathy,hypoketonemia,hypoglycemia,hyperammonemia.Studies show that supplement of carnitine could improve the clinical symptoms of some diseases.

8.Roles of integrin and vascular endothelial growth factor in angiogenesis

Integrin is a main factor that mediates adhesive attraction between the cell and the extracellular matrix,and it participates in the formation of new vessel lumens and the construction of the rete vasculosum by regulating endothelial cell adhesion and migration.The extracellular matrix is the ligand of integrin.Collagen and laminin's deposition form new vessel lumens.The vascular endothelial growth factor promotes the proliferation of endothelial cells,accelerates angiogenesis and increases the permeability of blood vessels.This review focuses on the roles and correlation of integrin and VEGF in angiogenesis.

Perioperative nutrition support may be required when the synthesis and utilization of nutrients become disordered due to gastrointestinal abnormalities and trauma anesthesia. 10.Energy metabolism and related mechanism in patients with malignant tumors

Energy metabolism refers to the metabolism of three major nutrients associated with the process of energy production and usage.The metabolism in patients with tumors manifests specifically, as a result of tumor-bearing state, host's response to tumor and anti-neoplastic therapy.It is believed that resting energy expenditure increases in patients with newly diagnosed tumors, which is related to C-reactive protein and release of inflammatory cytokines. After eflfectjve therapy,resting energy expenditure decreases in some degree.In addition,the stage and differentiation of tumors also affect metabolism.However,there are some conflicts among research findings.The characteristics of energy metabolism and influential factors in patients with tumors are reviewed in this paper.
