5.Current and challenge in treatment of lupus nephritis
Chinese Journal of Practical Internal Medicine 2001;0(06):-
Lupus nephritis (LN) is a major cause of morbidity and mortality in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus.Although the use of aggressive immunosuppression has improved both patient and renal survival over the past several decades, the optimal treatment of LN remains challenging. The therapeutic strategy and progress for patients with lupus nephritis are based on the accumulative evidences of the medicine, and must be personalized according to the patient condition. This paper discusses established and newer treatment options for LN.We also emphasize the challenges in the day-to-day management of lupus nephritis in the clinical practice.
6.The Effect of Basic Fibroblast Growth Factor (bFGF) on the Grafting Ability of CD34~+Cord Blood Cells
Chinese Journal of Blood Transfusion 1988;0(04):-
Objective To investigate the effect of bFGF on the grafting ability (grafing efficiency)of CD34 + cord blood cells seeded in 5 FU injured human bone marrow stromal cells. Methods Using combined methods of bone marrow stromal cell culture system, light microscopy and electron microscopy, flow cytometry,we investigated the toxic effects of 5 FU on human bone marrow stromal cells (hBMSC) and the benefit of bFGF on dynamics of hBMSC as well as the ability of the cord blood stem cell to bind hBMSC.Results After 3 hours incubation with 5 FU,significant changes in hBMSC cytosolic and nuclear morphology were observed.Nuclear splitting and abnormal shapes of the pseudopodia were found under the electron microscope.Flow cytometry revealed that apoptosis appeared before G 0/G 1,and that cells in G 0/G 1and G 2/M phases were remarkably lower, while the cells in S phase were remarkably higher than the controls. Two hours after adding the cord blood hematopoietic progenitor cells, the group treated with bFGF(injury with intervention of bFGF group,IBG)showed higher proprtion of the adherence layer compared to the group without adding bFGF(injury group,IG)(29% versus 12%) Conclusion 5 FU causes DNA damage in hBMSC.It also impairs the binding ability of cord blood stem cell to hBMSC.bFGF is able to repair hBMSC damage and improve the binding of CD34 + cord blood hematopoietic progenitor cells onto hBMSC.
7.Application of magnetic resonance spectroscopy in neurosurgery
Chinese Journal of Tissue Engineering Research 2007;0(04):-
As a minimally invasive method of examination, magnetic resonance spectroscopy can provide information of brain metabolism and biochemistry, objectively reflect brain metabolite changes. Different manifestations were described in the diseases such as brain injury and brain tumor. As a result, magnetic resonance spectroscopy can be a helpful technology to give information of diagnosis and prognosis in neurosurgery for brain injury, brain tumor as well as brain abscess and epilepsy.
8.Case report of 57 patients with acute myocardial infarction combined with ventricular septal perforation
Clinical Medicine of China 2015;31(1):1-3
Objective To investigate the clinical characteristics and prognosis of acute myocardial infarction (AMI) combined with ventrical septal perforation (VSP).Methods Fifty-seven AMI + VSP patients were retrospectively analyzed their clinical characteristics and outcomes who were treated in the Fourth People' s Hospital of Shenyang and the First Hospital Affiliated to China Medical University from June 2000 to May 2014.Results Of all patients,43 (75.4%) VSP occurred anterior wall AMI,and 14 (24.6%) were not.Echocardiogram show the end diastolic diameter of left ventricle was (53.7 ± 9.5) mm,left ventricle ejection fraction was (48.5 ± 11.8)%,VSP diameter was (9.8 ±7.9) mm,and 37(64.9%) were with near apex. The level of cardiactroponin I,C-reactive protein, and N terminal of B type natriuretic peptide of patients were (16.7 ± 12.9) μg/L,(99.7 ± 31.40 mg/L,(3 051.2 ± 879.7) μg/L.Total mortality was 71.9% (41/57) in 30 days and 78.9% (45/57) in 1 year. The mortality of operation group was 73.9% (17/23) in 30 days and 91.3% (21/23) in 1 year. The mortality of consecutive therapy was 64.7% (22/34) in 30 days and 76.5% (26/34) in 1 year. Conclusion The mortality of AMI + VSP is higher and operation is the most effective therapeutic method.
9.Value of magnetic resonance imaging in diagnosis and prognosis prediction of brain stem injury at acute stage
Chinese Journal of Trauma 2010;26(3):199-202
Objective To study in patients characteristics of head CT and MRI of patients with brain stem injury at acute stage(<7 days)and discuss the relationship of head MRI manifestations and prognosis so as to provide indicators for imaging diagnosis and prognostic evaluation. Methods The patients with brain stem injury from November 2007 to September 2008 were involved in the study.Cranial CT and MRI were performed at early stage after brain stem injury. The patients were followed up for six months to evaluate prognosis and life quality of the patients based on disable rating scale(DRS)and Barthal score. Results MRI could detect more brain stem injuries than CT.The patients with injury at different parts of brain stem showed a statistical difference in regard of prognosis. Conclusions At acute stage of brain stem injury, cranial MRI has higher detection rate and clearer display of the brain stem lesions compared with CT.MRI manifestations can not only help classification of the brain stem injury, but also cater basis for diagnosis and prognosis evaluation of patients with brain stem injury.
10.Effects of Astragalus polysaccharide on gene expression profiles in islets of NOD mice with microarray technique
Chinese Journal of Endocrinology and Metabolism 2000;0(06):-
Objective To further investigate the molecular mechanism underlying the preventive effect of Astragalus polysaccharide (APS) on type 1 diabetes mellitus (DM) in NOD mice. Methods In order to explore the gene expression profiles of NOD mice′s islet cells treated with APS, cDNA microarray technique was applied. Results In APS group 5.47% gene expressions were obviously changed, 28 genes up-regulated, 35 genes down-regulated, and of which, 17 genes were functionally related to immunity. Conclusion The preventive effect of APS on type 1 diabetes in NOD mice is probably related to the action of APS in correcting the imbalance of Th 1/Th 2 cytokines.
