Nature killer ( NK) cells, important innate immune cells, can respond in an antigenindependent manner as well as secrete huge amounts of cytokines, which can regulate acquired immunity. The role of NK cells in immune system attracts increasingly attention. Resent studies have shown that the regulating function of NK cells is by reacting with dendritic cells and secreting cytokines.

Objective:To observe influence of mitochondrial manganese superoxide dismutase (MnSOD ) on vascular alkaline phosphatase (ALP) activity ,transcription factor :Runx2 and Osterix expression levels in MnSOD‐Tg mice model of vascular calcification .Methods :A total of 20 wild type (WT) mice were selected as WT group and 20 Mn‐SOD‐Tg mice were enrolled as MnSOD‐Tg group ,then mice model of vascular calcification was established .Vascu‐lar ALP activity ,expression levels of transcription factor Runx2 and Osterix were compared and analyzed between two groups .Results:After successful model establishment ,compared with WT group ,there were significant reduc‐tions in ALP activity [ (75.89 ± 4.17) vs .(61.32 ± 3.12)] , expression levels of transcription factor Runx2 [ (0.928 ± 0.016) vs .(0.694 ± 0.007)] and Osterix [ (0.472 ± 0.036) vs .(0.257 ± 0.013)] in MnSOD‐Tg group , P<0.01 all .Conclusion:Manganese superoxide dismutase may be improving atherosclerosis via reducing activity of vascular alkaline phosphatase ,expression levels of transcription factor Runx2 and Osterix .

Objective To explore the relationship between sex hormone-binding globulin (SHBG) of gestational diabetes mellitus ( GDM ) pregnant women with well-controlled glucose and pregnancy outcomes. Methods Two hundred and fifty-one GDM pregnant women of 24 - 28 weeks in Shengjing Hospital of China Medical University were recruited from Mar. 2005 to Mar. 2010. Two hundred and sixteen cases of GDM with well-controlled glucose were defined as glycemic satisfied group, and they were treated by diet therapy ( 169 cases) or insulin therapy (47 cases) . Thirty-five cases with unsatisfied glucose were defined as glycemic unsatisfied group. One hundred and ninety-two healthy pregnant women of 24 - 28 weeks were defined as healthy control group. Serum SHBG and homeostasis model analysis of insulin resistance ( HOMA-IR) at 24 - 28 weeks and above 36 weeks were measured. GDM was diagnosed bytwo-step method according to the National Diabetes Data Group ( NDDG) criteria. The pregnancy outcomes and complications of the three groups were recorded. Results ( 1 ) Comparison of pregnancy outcomes and complications: glycemic satisfied group was less likely to develop hypertensive disorders in pregnancy ( 10. 6% ) , premature birth(8. 3% ) ,large for gestational age ( LGA) (8. 8% ) , neonatal asphyxia(3. 7% ) and neonatal hypoglycemia ( 2. 3% ) compared to glycemic unsatisfied group ( 42. 9% , 34. 3% , 31. 4% , 22. 9% and 11. 4% ,respectively). And the difference was statistically significant (P ＜0. 05 or P ＜0. 01). There was no significant difference for incidence of polyhydramnios, pueperal infection, postpartum hemorrhage, neonatal hyperbilirubinemia between the two groups ( P＞ 0. 05 ) . When compared to healthy control group(7. 3% ,2. 1% ,4. 2% ,2. 1% and 1. 6% ) ,no significant difference was found for incidence of premature birth( 8. 3% ) , pueperal infection ( 3. 2% ) , postpartum hemorrhage (5. 1% ) , neonatal asphyxia (3. 7% )and neonatal hypoglycemia(2. 3% ,P ＞0. 05). (2) Comparison of results of 24 - 28 weeks and above 36 weeks: serum SHBG of glycemic satisfied group [( 384 ± 88 ) , (457 ± 48 ) nmol/L]was significantly higher than that of glycemic unsatisfied group[(313 ±45) ,(401 ±73) nmol/L];HOMA-IR of glycemic satisfied group (5. 3 ±1.1,5.5 ±1.1) was significantly lower than that of glycemic unsatisfied group (7. 0 ± 1. 3 ,7. 6 ± 1. 7 ; P ＜ 0. 01). Serum SHBG of glycemic satisfied group was significantly lower than that of healthy control group [( 492 ± 95 ) , (565 ± 40 ) nmol/L]; and HOMA-IR of glycemic satisfied group(5. 3 ± 1. 1,5. 5 ± 1. 1) was significantly higher than that of healthy control group (3. 6 ±0. 6,3. 9 ± 0. 5 ;P ＜ 0. 01 ) . FPG of glycemic satisfied group [( 5. 84 ± 0. 28 ) , ( 5. 16 ± 0. 13 ) mmol/L]was significantly lower than that of glycemic unsatisfied group [(6. 13 ± 0. 16 ) , ( 5. 68 ± 1. 14) mmol/L; P ＜ 0. 01]. FINS of glycemic satisfied group [( 20. 4 ± 2. 1 ) , ( 24. 1 ± 4. 2 ) mmol/L]was significantly lower than that of glycemic unsatisfied group [(24. 7 ± 4. 5 ) , ( 29. 9 ± 2. 7 ) mmol/L; P ＜ 0. 01]. ( 3 ) Correlation analysis. Between 24 - 28 weeks, SHBG was negatively correlated with HOMA-IR in the three groups ( r = -0. 952, P ＜0. 01) ; and SHBG was negatively correlated with HOMA-IR in glycemic satisfied group ( r = -0. 903, P ＜0. 01). Conclusions Well-controlled glucose can not completely improve maternal and fetal outcomes of GDM pregnant women. High insulin resistance and low serum SHBG can influence pregnancy outcomes.

Aim To investigate the effect of genistein on apoptosis in triple-negative breast cancer MDA-MB-231 cells and the underlying mechanisms.Methods MTT assay was used to detect the inhibition rate on breast cancer MDA-MB-231 cells of genistein.Hoechst 33258 staining was applied to determine the effect of genistein on morphology of MDA-MB-231 cells.qRT-PCR was employed to detect the mRNA expression of EGFR in MDA-MB-231 cells.Western blot was utilized to determine the expression of Bcl-2, Bax, caspase-3, EGFR, Akt, and p-Akt.The expressions of Akt and p-Akt proteins in breast cancer MDA-MB-231 cells were detected after treated with Akt activator insulin, genistein and in combination with insulin.Results Genistein inhibited the viability of breast cancer MDA-MB-231 cells in a time-dependent manner.The results of Hoechst 33258 staining showed a typical apoptotic morphological changes of MDA-MB-231 cells after treatment of genistein for 36 h.qRT-PCR showed that the mRNA expression of EGFR in MDA-MB-231 cells decreased after treated with genistein for 36 h.The expression levels of Bcl-2, EGFR, Akt, p-Akt, ERK, p-ERK were significantly down-regulated(P<0.01) compared with control.While, the expression of Bax, caspase-3 was significantly up-regulated (P<0.01).It was observed that p-Akt was significantly activated after the treatment of Akt activator insulin (P<0.01), however, significantly down-regulated (P<0.01) when treated with genistein.Conclusion Genistein could inhibit the growth of triple-negative breast cancer MDA-MB-231 cells and induce apoptosis, which probably involves regulating EGFR/PI3K/Akt signaling pathway.

OBJECTIVE To observe prenatal nicotine exposure (PNE) induced high sensitivity of hypo?thalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis in offspring rats which were fed with a high-fat diet, and to explore the mechanism. METHODS Nicotine (2 mg·kg-1 per day) was injected subcutaneously to preg?nant Wistar rats from gestational day (GD) 9 to GD20,and then the young rats were naturally delivered. After weaning, half of the offspring was fed with a high-fat diet until postnatal weeks (PW) 20. The others were exposed to unpredictable chronic stress (UCS) from PW17 to PW20. The pathological changes in the hippocampus were analyzed by HE staining. The blood concentration of adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) and corticosterone (CORT) was detected by RIA kits and ELISA kits, respectively. Meanwhile, real-time PCR was used to detect the mRNA expression of ACTH releasing hormone (CRH), arginine vasopressin (AVP), vesicular glutamate transporter 2 (VGluT2), glutamic acid decarboxylase 65 (GAD65), mineralocorticoid receptor (MR),glucocorticoid receptor (GR) and glutamic acid decarboxylase 67 (GAD67). RESULTS In the normal control group,UCS treatment increased the level of serum ACTH and CORT 1.96 and 3.24 times in female rats,but 1.63 and 3.54 times in male rats. In the PNE group, UCS treatment increased the level of serum ACTH and CORT 3.96 and 5.98 times in female rats, but 3.04 and 5.22 times male rats. PNE increased the mRNA expression of AVP in the female and male rats 2.04 and 1.13 times in UCS treatment control group, and the mRNA expression of hypothalamus CRH and the ratio of VGLuT2/ GAD65 were increased 2.49 and 1.14 times in female rats, respectively. Furthermore, the nicotine group exhibited histological changes to different degrees in the hippocampus and dentate gyrus area of the hippocampus. In the female and male nicotine groups, the mRNA ratio of hippocampal MR/GR decreased by 88.0% and 86.0% in comparison with the normal control group without UCS, and the mRNA expression of GAD67 was enhanced 1.38 and 1.97 times in female and male rats without UCS. In the female UCS treatment nicotine groups, the mRNA expression of GAD67 was increased 2.17 times compared with the UCS treatment control group. CONCLUSION PNE can induce a high sensibility of HPA axis in offspring rats fed with a high-fat diet. The imbalance of hippo?campus MR/GR and the enhanced expression of GAD67 mRNA may be involved.

Objective: To investigate the delay in identification, healthcare-seeking, and definitive diagnosis of tuberculosis among students in Urumqi City from 2010 to 2019, and to identify the influencing factors, so as to provide insights into tuberculosis control among students. Methods: The demographic and diagnosis data of tuberculosis patients in Urumqi City from 2010 to 2019 were captured from the Tuberculosis Information Management System of Chinese Disease Control and Prevention Information System. The delay in identification, healthcare-seeking and definitive diagnosis of tuberculosis was analyzed among students, and the factors affecting the delay in identification, healthcare-seeking and definitive diagnosis of tuberculosis were identified using a multivariable logistic regression model. Results: A total of 996 tuberculosis cases were identified among students in Urumqi City from 2010 to 2019. There were 702 students with delay in identification of tuberculosis (70.48%), 500 students with delay in healthcare-seeking (55.22%) and 534 students with delay in definitive diagnosis (53.61%). Multivariable logistic regression analysis identified active identification (OR=0.116, 95%CI: 0.032-0.420) as a factor affecting delay in identification of tuberculosis, women (OR=1.424, 95%CI: 1.104-1.836), non-local household registration (OR=1.311, 95%CI: 1.016-1.694) and active identification (OR=0.232, 95%CI: 0.064-0.848) as factors affecting delay in healthcare-seeking, and active identification (OR=0.143, 95%CI: 0.032-0.644) as a factor affecting delay in definitive diagnosis of tuberculosis among students. Conclusions There is a high proportion of delay in identification, healthcare-seeking and definitive diagnosis of tuberculosis among students in Urumqi City from 2010 to 2019, and female and non-locally household-registered students were at a high risk of delay in healthcare-seeking for tuberculosis. Active detection and screening of tuberculosis should be reinforced.

Malaria is one of the major diseases threatening the lives of people in Africa. Over the past decade, China has provided anti-malaria assistance to Africa. In November 2007, fast control malaria team of Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine cooperated with the Comoros health authority. In Moheli Island of the Comoros, the anti-malaria team adopted a new strategy of Mass Drug Administration (MDA) and active intervention. They established an effective anti-malaria system and reporting system, as well as a local anti-malaria team. Furthermore, they treated patients with malaria in Moheli Island and implemended health education in local people. In a very short time, they have achieved remarkable results. This paper summarized the experiences of the project in order to provide useful reference for China to better carry out anti-malaria action in Africa and expand foreign health assistance.

Objective: To investigate the status and influencing factors of health literacy of middle school students in Yinchuan City, to provide reference for health literacy improvement of middle school students in this region. Methods: Using stratified cluster sampling method, 2 003 middle school students from three districts of Yinchuan were investigated to complete the questionnaire survey.The survey included basic characteristics, health literacy and screen time status. Results: The total score of Chinese Adolescent Interactive Health Literacy Questionnaire was(101.3±17.5). The proportion of high, medium and low level of health literacy were 25.0%, 51.2% and 23.9% respectively;the proportion of long screen time exposure among middle school students was 52.5%. The health literacy level of junior middle school students, middle school students with father or mother education level of high school or above and appropriate screen time were higher than those of the corresponding group（χ 2=49.90，14.59，16.53，46.73，P<0.01）. Logistic regression analysis showed that education group, grade, father s or mother s education level and long screen time exposure were associated with middle school students health literacy level(P<0.05). Conclusion The health literacy level of middle school students in Yinchuan City needs to be further improved and targeted health education should be carried out from school, family and society.

Objective:To analyze the epidemiological and clinical characteristics of hospitalized patients with dengue fever in Guangdong Province in 2019, so as to provide reference for clinical diagnosis and treatment of dengue fever.Methods:The general data, laboratory examination data, clinical manifestations and prognosis data of 480 inpatients with dengue fever admitted to Eight People′s Hospital Affiliated to Guangzhou Medical University between January 4 and October 31, 2019 were analyzed retrospectively. The clinical and onset characteristics of patients with dengue fever were described.Results:Among 480 dengue patients, 442(92.1%) were dengue fever, 38(7.9%) were severe dengue, and 136(28.3%) had underlying diseases. The peak age of onset was mainly in young adults aged 20 to 49 years old, accounting for 66.0%(317/480) in total. The seasonal peak was mainly in August to October. There were 399(83.1%) local cases and 61(12.7%) imported cases. The most common clinical manifestations were fever (98.1%, 471/480), chills (72.9%, 350/480), headache (58.5%, 281/480) and bone/joint/muscle pain (67.1%, 322/480), followed by digestive tract symptoms and respiratory tract symptoms. Among 446 serum samples, 358 (80.3%) were dengue virus (DENV)-1, 54 (12.1%) were DENV-2, 34 (7.6%) were DENV-3. The main laboratory tests of the patients were leucopenia (65.8%, 316/480), low hematocrit (30.2%, 145/480), thrombocytopenia (48.3%, 232/480), neutropenia (44.8%, 215/480), elevated alanine aminotransferase (ALT) (37.7%, 181/480) and aspartate aminotransferase (AST) (59.4%, 285/480). Treatment mainly adopted symptomatic support treatment and active prevention of complications. The length of stay was (5.8±3.1) days (range 1.0-38.0 days). A total of 461(96.0%) patients were cured or improved.Conclusions:In 2019, the majority of dengue fever patients in Guangdong Province are young adults aged 20 to 49 years old, and the proportion of severe patients is high, with DENV-1 infection as the main type. After symptomatic support treatment and active prevention of complications, most of the dengue fever patients have a good prognosis.
