AIM: To explore the effects of hyperbaric oxygen (HBO) therapy on language function of aphasics and it's mechanisms. METHODS: Forty patients with aphasics after mild and moderate cerebral trauma and stroke were chosen and divided into therapy group (20 patients) and control group (20 patients). All the patients in both groups received routine therapy.Besides routine therapy, patients in therapy group also received HBO therapy. The HBO treatment contained three courses, each lasts for 15 days at an interval of 3 days. The language functions ( including 11 sub - items) were tested with the Apparatus ZM2.1for Diagnosis and Treatmern of Language Disorders (Language Disorders ZM2.1) before and after each course of HBO and be compared between the two groups. RESULTS: The therapeutic effects between the therapy group and the control group: the scores of 10 sub- items are significantly higher than those of the control group after the 2nd course (P<0. 05); After the 3rd course, all 11 sub - items were improved significantly ( P < 0.05). The therapeutic effects before and after each course of the therapy group:the scores of the advanced dictation, voice expression and semantic expression increased significantly after the 1st and the 2nd course ( P < 0.05). CONCLUSIONS: The HBO therapy might facilitate the recovery of the language function of the aphasics by promoting the recovery and the self- reparation of the neurocytes and alleviating the focal ischemia - reperfusion. The result of this effect would facilitate the original recovery velocity and not be focused on some language functions and much more obvious in the 1st and the 2nd course.

Objective To study the clinical rescue for basicranial fracture complicated with massive hemorrhage. Methods The therapies for 20 patients of basicranial fracture complicated with massive hemorrhage treated in our hospital within 3 years were analyzed retrospectively. Results Among 20 patients,16 cases were male,4 cases were female.7 cases were simple anterior basicranial fracture with massive hemorrhage,1 case was the delayed massive hemorrhage in cavernous fistula caused by anterior basicranial fracture,12 cases were anterior and mid basicranial fracture complicated with massive hemorrhage. In consequence,6 cases were secondary cerebrospinal leak,8 cases recovered,8 cases died. Conclusion The basicranial fracture complicated with massive hemorrhage is a very dangerous symptom with high death rate and high disability rate. The patients should be rescued actively.

ObjectiveTo analyze the development mechanism and investigate the more effective therapeutic method of the multiple system organs failure (MSOF) after severe craniocerebral injury.MethodsThe clinical data of 21 MSOF cases after severe craniocerebral injury was analyzed retrospectively.ResultsOf all 21 cases, 2 cured, 7 mended and 12 died with death rate 57% and deformity rate 33.3%.ConclusionTo severe craniocerebral injury, comprehensive, timely and effective therapeutic method is the key to reduce the occurrence of MSOF and the rate of death and deformity.

Objective To investigate the status and needs of professional training in the rehabilitation institutes associated to Shanghai Disabled Persons' Federation. Methods All the rehabilitation institutes associated to Shanghai Disabled Persons' Federation were surveyed with their theme, frequency and targeted participants of training in 2010. The intention of training of rehabilitation personnel were investigated and ranged as importance and urgency. Results There were some trainings in all the rehabilitation institutes, which varied with the property and level of the institutions. The theme of training did not meet the intention of the personnel. Conclusion A preliminary training system for the rehabilitation personnel has been established in Shanghai Disabled Persons' Federation system. It is needed to improve the needs assessment, curriculum, and teaching.
