Objective To observe the changes of immunological parameters and the effects of intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) in children with idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP),schonlein-Henoch purpura(HSP) and mucocutaneoas lymph node syn-drome(kawasaki disease, KD).Methods T cell subsets and serum immunoglobulins and complements were measured with the flow cytometry and enhanced trubidimetric immunoassay. Routine therapy combined with IVIG. Results CD3+ CD4+ T cells were de-creased in children with ITP accompanied by increased serum IgG;Serum IgA and CD3+ T cells were increased in children with HSP; CD3+ CD8+ T cells were decreased in children with KD. Clinical features were markedly improved after treatment with IVIG. It was noted that the incidence of damage to coronary artery decreased after the use of IVIG. Conclusions T cell subsets, serum immunoglobulins should undergo the clinical routine examinations in ITP,HSP and KD. Early administration of IVIG might be important to improve disease prognosis and shorten its course of treatment in children with three kinds of immunology related diseases.

Objective To research the effects of short-term intensive insulin treatment on regaining the sensitivity of sulfonylureas in diabetes patients. Methods Thirty patients from outpatient and emergency department, including 12 male and 18 female, who took regular-dose sulfonylureas but was high blood glucose level, were selected to suspend the sulfonylureas treatment and were given the BIAsp30 to control the blood glucose level for three months, then they were stopped the BIAsp30 and took the same sulfonylureas used before. Results The average fasting blood glucose(FBG) was(9.4?7.5)mmol/L and the average postprandial 2 h blood glucose(PG2h)(or random blood glucose) was(14.2?7.2)mmol/L in 3 months before stopping the sulfonylureas. The average FBG was(5.7?0.7)mmol/L and PG2h was(7.2?1.4)mmol/L at the beginning of the insulin getting the blood glucose under control. The average FBG was(6.0?0.8)mmol/L and PG2h was (7.8?1.2)mmol/L during the insulin treatment. The average FBG was(6.1?0.6)mmol/L and PG2 h was(7.7?1.3)mmol/L at the end of the insulin treatment. The average FBG was(6.5?0.5)mmol/L and PG2h was(8.1?(0.8))mmol/L when continuing the sulfonylureas treatment in one months. It increased significantly to compare the blood glucose before the treatment of insulin to that after the treatment of insulin(P

Objectives To observe the frequencies of mutations at glycophorin A(GPA)of erythro-cytes in patients with high arsenic coal poisoning(HACP)in comparison with normal controls. Methods The peripheral erythrocytes were isolated and immunolabelled, and were detected by flow cytometry in40patients and18normal adults. Results The mutation frequencies(MF)were(21.23?13.97)?10 -6 for type NN,(33.13?25.72)?10 -6 for type NO,(110.90?63.58)?10 -6 for type MM,and(20.35?21.26)?10 -6 for type MO of erythrocytes in patients with HACP,which were significantly higher than those in normal controls. The mutation frequencies were(31.50?16.13)?10 -6 for type NN,(54.50?38.13)?10 -6 for type NO,(159.33?66.22)?10 -6 for type MM,and(45.16?12.69)?10 -6 for type MO of erythrocytes in tumor group of HACP patients, which were significantly higher than those of non-tumor group of the patients. Conclusions Arsenic poisoning may induce the mutation at the glycophorin-A locus of erythrocytes,sug-gesting that arsenic may be one of potential mutagens.GPA-MF may serve as a parameter for the detection of patients with HACP.

Objective To explore the establishment of a rat model of acute radiation-induced liver injury and sig-nificance of the dynamic changes of TGF-β1 expression. Methods Forty healthy 6-week old male SD rats were randomly divided into model group (n=30) and control group (n=10).The right liver of rats in the model group was given a single dose of 25 Gy 6 MV X-ray irradiation.Histopathological examination using HE staining and transmission electron microsco-py were conducted to observe the liver pathological changes in rats at 3, 5, and 10 days after irradiation, serum TGF-β1 was detected, and relevant indicators of liver function ( ALT, AST, ALP) were determined.Statistical analysis was per-formed using SPSS 17.0 software. Results At 3, 5 and 10 days after irradiation, early pathological changes in the liver cells were observed by electron microscopy, the expression of TGF-β1 was gradually increased with the time prolongation, and significant differences were found between the model group and the control group at different time points (P<0.05). The light microscopic observation of liver tissues did not show significant differences between the control group and model group. The liver ALT, AST, ALP at different time points did not show significant differences between the two groups ( P>0.05).Conclusion Electron microscopy can be used to evaluate the early changes of radiation-induced liver injury, pri-or to the alterations visible by routine light microscopy.TGF-β1 can be used to predict the degree of radiation-induced liver injury, and may be used as a sensitive serum cytokine in predicting the degree of radiation-induced acute liver injury.
