With regard to the nature of meridians, the authors have presented the hypothesis of dual reflex in 1977. This means that acupunture can invoke some effects not only through CNS (long reflex), but through the connection of peripheral nerve terminals to transmit messages (short reflex). In this experiment, rats were anaesthetized by rethane. The superficial peroneal nerve (SPN) and the deep peroneal nerve (DPN) were found out and cut off in order to break off their connection to CNS. With electrical stimulation of SPN, the action potential (AP) on the DPN was recorded at the same time. AP was induced only in a few cases (5.7%). But, after electroacupuncture was reapplied to Zusanli (ST-39) point for 30 rain, we stimulated SPN with electricity. This showed that APs were recorded on DPN in 17 among 27 rats (58.6%). Since some tissues around Zusanli point involve both SPN and DPN, the results suggest that messages are transmitted between nerve terminals under certain condition and that impluses on a nerve stem may stimulate another nerve terminal. This might be the essence of propagated sensation along the channels.

Objective To explore CT and MRI appearances of intracranial germinoma.Methods 19 patients with intracranial germinoma confirmed histologically and radiotherapy were selected as the object of this study.CT and MR findings of germinoma were analysed retrospectively.Results Of 19 cases,the tumors were located at pineal region in 12,the basal ganglia and thalamus in 3 and the sellar in 4.Germinoma of pineal region showed low signal intensity on T1WI,iso or hyper-signal intensity on T2WI,isointensity or slightly hyperintensity on CT with definite margin,the pineal calculus were embedded frequently by tumors.After administration of contrast material,the tumors showed marked and uniformity enhancement.Thickness of pituitary stalk and absence of the hyperintensity of the posterior pituitary on T1WI were found in sellar germinoma.Tumors showed iso-signal intensity on T1WI,but variable signal intensity was exhibited on T2WI.Calcification was absent in all cases,but the solid components of tumors were hyperdense on plain CT,and they were obvious enhancement on contrast-enhanced CT scan.Germinoma located at basal ganglia and thalamus showed diffuse growth,larger volum of tumors,inhomogeneous signal intensity and density with indefinite margin,hemorrhage seen in most of case.After administration of contrast material,the tumors showed patch or chaplet-like enhancement.Conclusion It is possible to make the preoperative diagnosis for intracranial germinoma according to sex,age and CT,MR imaging characteristics.

OBJECTIVE:To compare the efficacy and safety of tamsulosin or nifedipine or racanisodamine in the treatment of lower ureteral calculi. METHODS:160 patients with lower ureteral calculi were randomly divided into group A(40 cases),group B(40 cases),group C(40 cases)and group D(40 cases). All patients drank plenty of water to make daily urine output more than 2 000 ml. Based on it,group A orally received 0.4 mg Tamsulosin hydrochloride sustained release capsule,once a day. Group B orally received 10 mg Nifedipine tablet,3 times a day. Group C orally received 10 mg racanisodamine tablet,3 times a day. Group D received no other drugs except for increasing drinking. The treatment course for all groups was 2 weeks. Clinical efficacy,litha-gogue time,lithagogue size,residual calculi size and the incidence of adverse reactions in all groups were observed. RESULTS:The total effective rate in group A was higher than group C,which was higher than group B and group D,the differences were sta-tistically significant(P<0.05). Lithagogue time in group A was shorter than group B and group C,which was shorter than group D,the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05),while there was no significant difference between group B and group C (P>0.05). Lithagogue size in group A was more than group C,which was more than group B and group D,the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05),while there was no significant difference between group B and group D(P>0.05). Residual cal-culi size in group A was less than group B,which was less than group C and group D,the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). And there were no severe adverse reactions in all groups. CONCLUSIONS:The efficacy of tamsulosin is superior to nifedipine and racanisodamine in the treatment of lower ureteral calculi,while nifedipine and racanisodamine show similar effica-cy,with better safety.

OBJECTIVETo study the effect of Morinda officinalis (MO) extract on cytoxan (CTX) -impaired spermatogenesis of adult male SD rats.

METHODSWe randomly divided 56 adult male SD rats into seven groups of equal number: blank control, CTX model, CTX + NS, CTX + 10 g/kg MO, CTX + 20 g/kg MO, CTX + 30 g/kg MO, and CTX + 40 g/kg MO. We made the models of impaired spermatogenesis in the SD rats by intraperitoneal injection of CTX and treated the animal models by intragastric administration of MO at the concentrations of 10, 20, 30, and 40 g per kg per d, respectively. After two weeks of medication, we observed the changes in the body weight, testicular and epididymal indexes, and microstructure of the testis tissue, measured the mean seminiferous tubule diameter (MSTD) , and obtained testicular biopsy scores (TBS) in different groups, followed by comparative analyses.

RESULTSAfter treatment, the CTX + NS group showed no remarkable differences in the body weight ([234.83 ± 28.77] g) and epididymal index (2.71 ± 0.34) from those of the four CTX + MO groups, but exhibited a significantly lower testicular index ([12.15 ± 1.04] g) than those in the CTX + 20 g/kg MO ([13.71 ± 0.97] g), CTX + 30 g/kg MO, ([13.30 ± 0.29] g), and CTX + 40 g/kg MO group ([13.48 ± 0.51] g) (P < 0.05). Light microscopy revealed obvious pathological changes of the testis tissue in the CTX + NS group and significantly ameliorated structures of the seminiferous tubules in the CTX + MO 10, 20, 30, and 40 g/kg groups, with the MSTD of (204.78 ± 11.03), (216.55 ± 10.93), (218.03 ± 11.23), and (218.59 ± 14.06) μm, respectively, and the TBS of 9.03 ± 0.39, 9.69 ± 0.26, 9.83 ± 0.18, and 9.89 ± 0.11, respectively, all significantly higher than (189.74 ± 8.55) μm and 5.95 ± 1.21 in the CTX + NS group (P < 0.05). The efficacy of MO extract was increased in a concentration-dependent manner.

CONCLUSIONMorinda officinalis extract can repair cytoxan-induced damage to rat spermatogenesis, with may achieve the best effect at the concentrations of 30 and 40 g per kg per d.

Objective To explore the influence of blocking B7/CD28 co-stimulatory pathway by RNA interference on the rejection response in mice heterogeneous heart transplantation and its mecha- nism.Methods siRNA of which sequence specified to CD80 and CD86mRNA was synthesized in vitro respectively and transfected into donor derived myeloid dendritic cells (DCs).The expression levels of CD80 and CD86 mRNA and surface antigen CD80,CD86 were assayed by semi-quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction and flow cytometry before and after CD80siRNA and CD86siRNA transfection.Seven days prior to heterogeneous heart transplantation in mice,DCs modi- fied by siRNA were transfused into recipients intraveneously (DC interference group).At the same time,group of allograft transplantation,cyclosporine A (CsA)-treated (CsA injected subcutaneously postoperatively,5 mg.kg~(-1)?d~(-1)) group,group of isograft transplantation,and non-interference DC group (transfusion of non-interfered DCs pre-transplanting) were assigned.The graft survivals were individually recorded and the graft rejection grading was pathologically evaluated.Interleukin 2 (IL- 2),interferon?(IFN-?),and IL-10 mRNA expression levels in grafts tissue were determined.Results After siRNA transfected into DC,the expression levels of CD80 and CD86 mRNA were down- regulated significantly and the the antigen CD80~+ and CD86~+ reduced from 84%,67% to 35% and 30% respectively.As compared with groups of allograft and non-interference DC,survival of the grafts was significantly longer in DC interference group (P＜0.01),pathological grade of rejection significantly lower (P＜0.01),IL-2 and IFN-?mRNA expression levels lower,and IL-10 mRNA ex- pression levels higher in grafts tissue (P＜0.01).Conclusion Knocking down the molecule B7 expres- sion level in donor-derived myeloid DCs through RNAi,which could block B7/CD28 co-stimulatory pathway,could exhibit inhibitive effect on rejection response in mice heart transplantation.The mechanism might be due to induction of T lymphocyte anergy and Th cell differentiation deviating to T_H2.

Objective To design a handy labor monitor based on ARM hardware structure so that the condition of pregnant women can be reflected more accurately and completely.Methods The host-slave mode was adopted,which was composed of host machine based on ARM and embedded WinCE operating system.The slave machine used the 51 single chip to acquire data.Results This system was convenient and stable,and the interface is friendly.Conclusion The study of this system can be used for reference for the development of related data acquisition machine.[Chinese Medical Equipment Journal,2008,29(2):31-33]

To elucidate the molecular mechanism of resveratrol against leukemia both in vitro and in vivo.

Objective To investigate the accuracy of 64-detector helical CT in assessing stenoses of coronary arteries. Methods 64-detector helical CT angiography was performed in 128 patients with suspected coronary artery disease,and the results were compared with that of invasive coronary angiography. Results Among 128 patients, 1 724 of 1 920 coronary artery segments were assessable (90%). Overall sensitivity for classifying stenoses was 92%, specificity was 94%, positive predictive value was 82%, and negative predictive value was 96%.Conclusion 64-detector helical CT provides a high diagnostic accuracy in assessing coronary artery stenoses.

Methods:Local wireless communication network is set up that around vehicular mobile medical information data center. Uses the eLTE broadband cluster technology as the local LAN carrying, through the deployment of LTE CPE device will be LTE signal into a wi-fi signal, for CPE surrounding wi-fi access equipment. Results:Single cluster station and don't need to cable connection between CPE, communicate through wireless LTE signal. IT equipment for medical use by wireless router or wireless module (department) wireless network access to the nearest tents, thus the whole battlefield rescue center by means of wireless local LAN connectivity was realized. Conclusion:the application of the wireless communication technology, the overall ascension of our medical and health unit in medical treatment activity ability, the cost of laying cable network was minimized.

Objective:To realize the hospital charging interface integration and sharing by using Web Service based system integration technology for resolving the problems the length of the shortcomings of low efficiency of payment and settlement in hospital.Methods: Using a service-oriented (SOA) open and loose coupling architecture, all agreements provide application services for XML-based standards. It can realize the integration of charging and making price and payment accurately, conveniently and quickly.Results: The integration platform based on Web service can apply complex heterogeneous system, support custom adapter connection, reduce the coupling between the module and improve the versatility of system data.Conclusion: The system is safe and reliable, and has a good sharing compatibility features. It can be able to upgrade and functions expansion. The application of integration technology will greatly improve the medical staff's working efficiency, provide convenience of patients, and reduce the hospital operation maintenance cost.
