Objective To investigate the relationship between genetic polymorphism in glutathione S-transferases T1, M1 and P1 and susceptibility to reflux esophagitis. Methods Genomic DNA was isolated from peripheral blood from the patients with reflux esophagitis (n=109), cases with negative endoscopy reflux disease (NERD) (n=97) and controls (n=97). Genes GSTM1 and GSTT1 were detected by multiplex PCR. A A→G polymorphism of codon 104 of the gene GSTP1 was detected using PCR-based restriction fragment length polymorphisms ( PCR-RFLP ) with Alw26I. Results The frequency of variant GSTP1 genotypes (*A/*B and*B/*B) was found to be 40.4% among the patients with reflux esophagitis compared with 24.7% among cases with gastroesophageal reflux without esophagitis and 21.6% among controls (P

OBJECTIVETo compare the clinical efficacy between acupuncture and intravenous administration of lipoic acid and alprostadil for distal symmetric multiple peripheral neuropathy of diabetes mellitus.
METHODSSixty patients were randomly divided into an acupuncture group (31 cases) and a medication group (29 cases). Patients in the two groups received basic treatment to control blood sugar within a safe range. On this basis, patients in the acupuncture group were treated with acupuncture at Geshu (BL 17), Weiwanxiashu (EX-B 3), Ganshu (BL 18), Pishu (BL 20), Shenshu (BL 23), Zusanli (ST 36), Taixi (KI 3), ashi points, etc. Patients in the medication group were treated with intravenous administration of lipoic acid (0.6 g) and alprostadil (10 mg). The treatment was given once a day, 10 days for a course of treatment; there was an interval of 2 days between courses, and totally 3 courses were given. The score of peripheral neuropathy of diabetes mellitus, the change of nerve conduction: velocity and clinical efficacy before and after treatment in the two groups were observed.
RESULTSAfter treatment, the score of peripheral neuropathy was significantly reduced in the two groups (both P < 0.05), which was more significant in the acupuncture group (P < 0.05). After treatment, the sensory nerve conduction velocity (SNCV) and motor nerve conduction velocity (MNCV) of median nerve and common peroneal nerve were significantly increased in the two groups (all P < 0.05). Compared between two groups, the SNCV and MNCV of common peroneal nerve in the acupuncture group were significantly superior to those in the medication group (both P < 0.05); the MNCV of median nerve in the acupuncture group was significantly superior to that in the medication group (P < 0.05); the SNCV of median nerve in the acupuncture group was not significantly different from that in the medication group (P > 0.05). The total effective rate was 83.9% (26/31) in the acupuncture group, which was significantly superior to 62.1% (18/29) in the medication group (P < 0.05).
CONCLUSIONAcupuncture and conventional medication both have satisfied effects for distal symmetric multiple peripheral neuropathy of diabetes mellitus, and acupuncture is superior to medication on improving clinical signs of sensory disorder, reflection disturbance and muscle weakness, nerve conduction and clinical curative effect.

Journal of Medical Postgraduates 2016;29(8):849-852
Objective Non small cell lung cancer( NSCLC) is a common tumor and the blood of NSCLC patients is generally in a state of high coagulation. However, as a predictor of coagulation, few study has been done on the role of D-dimer level in lung cancer. This article aimed to analyze the prognostic value of plasma D-dimer level in patients with advanced NSCLC and its relation with pulmonary embolism Methods The study collected patients with lung cancer treated in Tianjin Chest Hospital from January 1, 2013 to October 31, 2015.The serum levels of D-dimer were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay.Based on different lev-els, the patients were divided into high expression group and normal expression group. The relationship between D-dimer level and the prognosis of lung cancer patients were analyzed by Kaplan-Meier method and Log-rank test univariate analysis.T test was used to ana-lyze the difference of D-dimer between patients with and without pulmonary embolism. Results In all the enrolled subjects,103 ca-ses (73.75%) of plasma D-dimer were normal, while 37 patients (26.25%) were elevated.Survival analysis showed that the patho-logical status, tumor size and D-dimer were independent prognostic factors; and the D-dimer in patients with pulmonary embolism was 5.37 ±1.23 μg/mL, while the patients without pulmonary embolism was 0.43 ±0.73μg/mL, D-dimer in patients with pulmonary embol-ism was high than the patients without pulmonary embolism, showing significant difference (P<0.05). Conclusion Plasma D-dimer is an independent prognostic factor for the prognosis of lung cancer, which is obviously higher in patients with lung cancer and pulmonary embolism than in patients without pulmonary embolism.

Medical Journal of Chinese People's Liberation Army 1981;0(04):-
To summarize the experience of application of the cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) technique in non cardiac surgery in 28 patients, including 22 cases of Budd Chiari syndrome, 2 cases of renal cell carcinoma with cancer cell emboli in the inferior vena cava, 2 cases of tracheal carcinoma, 1 case of intracranial basilar artery aneurysm, and 1 case of leiomyolipoma of the liver with excision and replantation of remaining liver. Different types of CPB were adopted as follows: 10 cases were supplemented by hypothermia and low flow perfusion, 15 cases by deep hypothermia and circulation arrest (DHCA) and 3 cases with vena vena bypass in normothermia, respectively. 2 patients died in early post operative period. It is our opinion that CPB can be used in non cardiac surgery, when it is difficult or almost impossible to carry out with routine surgical technique. The technique can make operations more convenient and safer to perform, even though there are some disadvantages, such as more trauma and higher cost.
